Chapter 80 LOOSE ENDS
CURTIS POV
The bleak truth was revealed by her words. Because I did not need another blasted mate, I pushed my damn wolf back when I felt him speaking with me. Needless to say, one that was human and exiled from the werewolf kingdom. Resisting the sparks and the tug of the mate bond, I pushed her off gently. Taking the hint, she stepped back with scrutiny.
"We are nothing," I spat out, thinking that she was nothing special. "Do not expect anything of me."
Damn if I was going to let this feline divert me from my already-planned actions or hinder me from carrying them out.
She scoffed with a godawful chuckle, "It's not like I expected a mate either, but here................ are." The emphasis on her words could not hide the contempt.
The brunette returned with a bagged order and handed it to Gail, "Thanks, Gloria." She hands over the money and pays for the meal.
As I finished my meal, Gloria cleared my soiled plate and winked at me. She puts the dish into the sink behind her and wipes her hands into her apron, and returns to flirt with me. "If you are in town for a while, I could show you around."
"Gloria, leave the man alone," Gail scolded sternly.
"What?" She faked innocence, "I'm single and he's single, so what's the harm?"
Another plump blonde waitress attended to the other customers in their booth. She gave coffee to one and cleared the table for the other.
"He's not single," Gail explained, half-sitting on the stool next to me and touching my hand on the counter.
Gloria caught the signal and was surprised, "Oh, it's like that?"
I'm listening to these two women debate passively over me as if they had known me their entire lives. They carried on and I cleared my throat to remind them that I could speak for myself.
"Ladies, I should be going. Take care of yourselves." I left a fifty-dollar note on the counter as I stood from the stool and scurried through the door. The effort was to get away from Gail as quickly as possible and get back to the shabby motel.
As anticipated, footsteps hurried behind me until hands grabbed mine, pulling me to a stop on the roadside. "What the hell, Curtis? We discovered that we are mates and you suddenly scamper off like that?"
Annoyed at the sparks, I yanked my hand from hers. "I did not come here to be tied to anyone."
"Are you on a mission?" She gasped, "Did they send you to spy on me?'
I acted like I was caught red-handed, "Ah, you got me."
She frowned, "I haven't done anything wrong. Life here has been good. I have a small property management business. This area is underdeveloped and I am slowly turning this into a vacation community."
"Then stay here and live it by yourself," I barked, turning completely to face her. "I have unfinished business to take care of."
"Will you come back when you are done?" She inquired, hopeful that I would give us a chance. She fidgeted nervously with her fingers.
This woman was making me feel guilty. I ought to kill her so that she keeps her mouth shut. First, there was Jazmine, and now here's Gail. Two unwanted mates that are nothing but stumbling blocks to separate me from the only woman that I desired.
"What do you think will happen, huh?" I provoked her thoughts because she needed to rationalize the reality, "I'm a wolf and you are human. We are worlds apart." Shaking my head, I continued, "You cannot return to the werewolf regions."
Tears formed in her eyes, "I know, but if you stay here....."
"Supernaturals are forbidden to dwell in human territories." Cutting her speech, I dropped the quick reminder in a faintly scornful tone.
"Then let's appeal to Alpha Vance, he will....."
I roared at the mention of his name. Her words abruptly paused as she studied me. Everything in the atmosphere stood still as the silence ballooned and popped.
"Why are you really here, Curtis?" Narrowing her eyes as her thoughts conjectured "Are you on the run, have you gone rogue?"
"I'm burning off some steam," my voice went flat.
"So there's no mission. You are here without permission." Her assumptions racked up, "What did you do?"
"Stay out f my business," I slammed, grabbing her by shoving her back, "if you know what's good for you."
neck to come:
and then
Just let me walk away. I thought to myself. Gail did not need a jerk like me who was going to use her as I did with Jazmine. The reservations of my heart, every room, and space were for Sianna.
This time, I made it to my room without Gail trailing me. Or so I thought until an hour passed and a small knock caused me to sit up in the bed. Shirtless and only in my boxers, I peeped through the spyhole in the door. With a sigh, I contemplated opening it.
My wolf was haunting me with threats if I chose not to open the door. My aggravation had not quelled since I left the diner. Now Gail stood on the other side of the door. We were both helpless to the mate bond. An exiled woman and a renegade, what an awesome pair we were. This was the joke of the century.
I flung the door open, grabbed her onto my chest, and slammed my lips on hers. I'll do this to appease my wolf because I was positive that Sianna had that Alpha between her legs too.
We separated as our chests rose rapidly in need of oxygen. From the doorway, she gave my shoulder a couple of pushes till I was seated on the end of the bed. Her arrogant demeanor arouses the primal longing for the mate bond. She kneels and begins carefully tracing my waist with her hands before stopping at the edge of my jeans.
My eyes narrowed as I followed her every move. I should stop her, but I lack the motivation to do so. I am a man with needs that must be met. My jeans' button was opened by her fingers working on it, allowing the zip to descend. My cock became harder knowing what she was about to do.
My sturdy member is palmed through my boxers by her hands. Raising my hip a bit, I pushed down my pants, and my boxers followed. My manhood suddenly sprung free. She grabs hold of my manhood and moves her hand in a vertical motion; it feels amazing.
She smiled with delight at getting the precise response she was looking for as pre-cum forms on my tip. Bending her head, she placed her mouth at the tip of my cock. Her mouth slowly encircles the top of my pulsing cock, and then her tongue precisely licks it, causing me to unconsciously moan.
Memories of Sianna doing this to me made it even more pleasurable. But knowing that she was sharing that pleasure with another man made me mad. I grabbed hold of Gail's head, pushing it all the way down so that the tip of my cock struck the back of her throat. Pushing and pulling with tremendous force in a torturous manner, and channeling that anger.
However, it was clear by the moans that came out of her mouth that she preferred it rough. Moving at a breakneck speed, I slammed my cock into her mouth with such intensity that she continually gagged. Everything about our night was aggressive and I never eased up, not even once. I was dumping all my troubles, stress, and desire on this unwanted mate.
Gail was boastful about the fact that I melted into her grip and that she had such control over me last night after I let myself go in her arms. Maybe that's what I was; spineless.
I was sitting on the edge of the bed, lost in my thoughts. Today, I anticipated that call to come in. Gail sat upright with the sheets clinging to her naked body, leaning her back against the wall. Contrary to yesterday when she had been so talkative, she has not said a word since she woke up.
She might as well just leave. Her presence was unappreciated and I had no time to give her. My wolf relaxed and enjoyed his new mate, but that was all that he was ever going to get from this
one.
"You should go now," I said coldly, without looking behind me.
I heard a scoff as she shuffled off the mattress, hugging the sheet to her body and dragging the
hem of it on the floor. "You are a dipshit, Curtis!"
I snickered, "At least now you know that much about me."
With a vicious attitude, she found the pieces of her clothes on the floor. "I need clothes to
wear."
"Do I look like I wear women's clothes to you?" The nerve of this woman.
"Just give me a damn shirt!" She shouted with peremptory.
From my bag, I took a shirt out and threw it in her face. Should I be done with her and just take her life? Leaving her to go freely would make her a loose end. The self-debating was prolonged as I stared coldly at this woman.
She put on the button-front shirt swiftly like she was dying to get away from me. Her mouth
pouted as she fumed with blazing anger. My wolf hated that I was discarding yet another mate. In view of the fact that the mission was proceeding and no one will stand in my way until I saw
Sianna again.
Using her fingers like a comb, she ran them through her light brown hair to untangle the mop- like appearance. So cute, but she was not for me.
"Give me your address," I demanded, tugging her shoulder before she could move forward.
"Why? It's not like I'll see you again." She spat while scuffling to escape my grip.
My clasp tightened around her arm, she flinched from the pain and resorted to using her free
hand to pluck my fingers free. No doubt, as an Alpha's daughter, she was used to having things her way. My defiance was adding to her bad attitude.
"I, Gail Howlers, reject you, Curtis Black as my mate!" She surrendered from the failing
attempt to break free.
My heart constricted and I numbed the pain tearing at my heart from the rejection. Yanking her to face me, "I accept your rejection, Gail Howlers."
I finally let her wriggle free after sinking to the ground as the bond shattered and she was in unspeakable pain. The strength of my wolf decreased and I watched her slowly gather herself
as the pain stopped.
"Hank might have been a rogue criminal but he is on a pedestal when compared to you!" Standing on her saggy legs, our eyes locked and she had more to say, "Go ahead, Curtis." Then
she gave a mocking laugh, "Try to take the werewolf queen and see what Alpha Vance does to
you."
"What did you say?" I retorted. She just could not keep her damn mouth shut.
"You called me Sianna last night. Isn't she the unfinished business that you have?" She asked
boldly.
With that, I swiftly grabbed her by the throat. Both of her hands wrapped around mine as I choked her. The puny effort that she projected could not have stopped me from taking her life. She gagged and gaped for air, but none could pass her windpipe. My hands remained on her neck until the cracking of the bones ceased and her lifeless body dropped to the floor. Peering out the window, I scope the outside because I had to bury her body. In the human areas, the police would need to do an investigation should they find out she was missing. This added pressure to leave this town and get on with my plans.
I found Joe at his usual spot and requested to borrow his car. He had a beat-up chevvy that he loaned me. I wrapped up Gail's deceased body in the red polyester sheet and tossed it in the trunk. Then I drove into a forest area, at the base of the dark mountain, dug her grave, and buried her. As I drove to the motel to give Joe his car and see if I could hitch a ride to the next town, my phone rang and the number belonged to the person that I was anxiously awaiting.
I answered:
Me: Talk to me.
Him: Curtis, are you crazy? What the hell are you trying to drag me into?
The jig was up. He had discovered that I was a rogue now and must also know about me being
on the run.
I sighed. The result of my mission would be determined by my ability to manipulate my friend. He was crucial and I had to steer this conversation properly. Him: You are on our wanted list, Curtis. Associating with you will get me killed.
Me: Malik, I need that money and you are going to bring it to me. You should remember that
you and I have a secret to protect. I'm already a rogue, so I don't have anything to lose should your Alpha suddenly get that information.
Malik: Are you fucking me right now? You are going to go down that road with me?
Me: I wouldn't ask this of you if it wasn't important. I need you, man.
Malik: Damn you, Curtis. If this is about Luna....
Me: No, it's not. I'm stranded. Please, Malik, think about our friendship.
Malik: I don't respond well to threats, Curtis.
I sighed.
Me: Where do we meet, Malik?
(Pause)
Malik: Meet me at the corner of Duke and Tower Street in Cedar City.
Me: Are you talking about Utah?
Malik: Yes. Me: No, it has to be closer.
Malik: Then why don't you pick somewhere?
Me: Behind the old cinema on Mohangony Street in Mason City, Iowa,
Malik: Iowa? Shit!
Me: I can't be near the pack and you know that. Malik? Come alone.
Malik: Fine! I am on my way. I fucking hate you, Curtis.
Me: After today you won't see me again, Malik.
Malik: Good.
He hung up.
I enjoyed a maniac laugh as I set out for Mason City. As soon as I get his blood, I will be on my
way back into Dark Wolverson Pack. Hurry up my dear friend, Malik. You are my ticket.
MIRIAM'S POV
The garden was progressing well. Since there had been little rain, I worried that they would not
emerge. My first harvest after the winter was this one. Being an elemental witch was beneficial, but I do not believe that I should use magic to cultivate ordinary flowers. Our vitality came from nature, so it was crucial to maintain healthy flora surrounding us,
including vibrant plants. Having to plow the field, plant crops, prune, control pests, apply fertilizer, and harvest the crops, caused my poor back to hurt. But this was my favorite pastime. With our German shepherd, Marlena was practicing her water charms at the lake behind our
house. She had gracefully matured and will serve the Alpha well, taking on the responsibilities of the next generation.
The Alpha family is protected by us at all costs, and the best part about it is that they are decent people. We, therefore, had no reservations about giving them and the pack our all. The following two years will mark my retirement, and things look promising. Their bloodline is powerful enough to handle whatever happens. Nevertheless, vigilance was key to maintaining
serenity.
The story of Alpha Valen will be his own, and boy, will it be exciting. He was the pride of the pack right now.
In the past, I managed to avoid Vance as best I could when Sianna coerced me into joining the
ruse. Oh, I'm so relieved that it has ended and the couple is content. It was hard to take a side so I decided to stay out of it. My loyalty was now to both, but Valen's growth and protection superseded everyone else since he was the future King of the Werewolf realm.
I had warned Vance, but he disregarded my advice. Not that my visions allowed me to tell him
more. But when one of his pack members was hurt, what was he supposed to do? I guess it was
a difficult choice to make, though when it came to matters of the heart, love is expected to win. A tiger swallowtail caterpillar was munching on the moonflower's heart-shaped leaf. Kneeling, I used my finger to let it crawl on me. I whispered enchantment and it turned into a
butterfly and flew away.
The plan was to create a lovely bouquet for baby Valen's nursery so that light energy would
flow throughout the room. Using my pruning shear, I crouched to select the flowers for
picking. Then my messenger showed up while I was in the third one.
The bald eagle descended and perched on my right index finger. Peering into her eyes showed
me its journey and the discoveries that were made. My heart ached and only one word escaped
my lips.
"Curtis."
