Chapter 156 2-28-CONFERENCE CALL
\-SIANNA'S POV-
"Can we go home now," Venus hoarsely pleaded with harlequin eyes, sitting up in the hospital bed of the bright sun-filled room. "I could eat some burgers, fries, and a coke." Her gaze flickered from me to her Dad. " I'm starving."
Miriam, Marlena, Vance, Hailey, Mom, and I laughed as she said that. A sigh of relief left me as I looked at my daughter who was back to her old self after receiving the antidote. A lot of love flowed through the room.
It's been two weeks since she has been comatose. Can you imagine how thrilled I was when my mate told me about the antidote to get all of the kripling's blood out of her system? We arranged everything for the next day.
Just the sight of my daughter was enough to clog my throat with tears. Mom's slender hand was warmly in mine as Marlena and Miriam helped Venus awaken from her coma. Vance held my shoulders, standing behind me. Hailey chewed her nails, ruining her manicured fingers.
"We're almost done, princess," Vance stated, nonchalantly. He was more composed than I was. The love shone in his eyes as he observed her unkempt condition and the way that we fussed over her.
On the other hand, I had been a mess of tangled nerves for the past few days. My heart beat uncontrollably as I waited for the dreadful days for her to awaken. Nevertheless, Vance had been a rock for me to rest on while he masked his concerns.
Seeing Venus smiling at us made my whirling mind gradually quell into a peaceful calm as Venus stretched her hands in the air and yawned as though she had awakened from a regular sleep. Her ivory skin tone was well balanced in comparison to the pale white that accompanied the kripling's tainted venom that was killing out her regular blood cells. Mom removed all the tubes and ventilator. She completed the last of her examination and helped Venus to drink some water. Then she stepped back from the bed to stand beside Marlena.
This gave Miriam space to do her bit as Hailey grabbed a chair and placed it beside the bed for the elder witch to sit. Marlena had previously applied her magic for the final healing touches on a molecular level to restore any damage to her cells.
"I don't feel the hot bubbling in my veins anymore," Venus' voice was husky and low. "My child, that's a good sign, but we need to ensure that your life force is normal," Marlena explained.
Miriam touched Venus at the temples, tilted her head back, and looked directly into her eyes to ensure that all the proper work was done. After a minute, Miriam brought down her hands with a warm smile and turned to us, "All is well, Alpha, Luna."
"In that case, she's good to go." Mom cleared her and Vance took a deep breath and signed the discharge forms.
"This is great!" Hailey chirped, and I nodded with teary eyes. She came over to me and gave me an affectionate hug. "I'll tell the others and send some food over to your house. See you later." She took out her phone to send the messages out and left us for a private family moment.
"The cure was successful, sweetie,"
Mom stood at my side in her beige sheath dress with delicate cap sleeves and a modest V-neckline underneath her white lab coat. As usual, the clipboard pinned with Venus' medical chart was in one hand. She lovingly held my hand with the other.
"Her strength will return to her after a good meal," Marlena added as she helped Miriam to her feet. "I'll take Grams home now. You can call me if there's anything else."
"Sure. Thanks." I lowly expressed.
"Thank you, Miriam and Marlena. I feel so much better now." Venus verbalized gratitude to her elders. "My child, we are happy to have you back," Miriam spoke, while Marlena nodded and they departed. Valen and Vaheed were at school. They were going to be joyful that their baby sister was healed and back to normal. Releasing Mom's hand, I wiped my teary eyes and went to sit on the bed, patting down Venus' messy black wavy hair. "Of course, we can go home, honey."
"Let's get you home and feed you quickly." Vance declared, eager to make his little princess happy. He had gotten so quickly to her side that I
hadn't noticed when he made the move. He leaned down and kissed her temple.
Mom went to the overnight duffel bag on the chair by the window and took out a yellow shirt dress for Venus. She handed it to me.
"Dad," Venus looked at him weirdly,
gesturing with her hands that he ought to leave the room and give her some privacy.
"Fine." Vance placed his palms up with a smile. "I'll be on the outside
waiting." He patted down her headtop,
kissed her temple again, and left the three of us alone.
"Venus, I don't want you to overwork
your body. Take it easy for a few days." Mom cautioned, as she brushed her hair to the back.
"I won't Grandma. I'm sure Mom won't let me go anywhere." She quipped as I lowered her feet and put her soft white slippers on.
Mom chuckled. I ignored them by an Once we got her dressed, we went The food was deli omega and ensured that Venus ate to her heart's delight. When her brothers came home, they embraced her in a lingering hug. There was no keeping Devin, Raina, Thaines, and Theo from coming over and the happy bunch hung out. Venus reassured us that she was fine and enjoyed their company in the rec room in the basement. Being the concerned Mom, but much to Venus' annoyance, I checked on her every hour just to ensure that she was alright. "Baby, come here." Vance beckoned me into his arms as we sat on the grey couch on the back porch. He kissed my forehead as I leaned into him. "The
kids are fine. Miriam has never failed us."
""
"I know," I mumbled. Vance was right. "Let's relax and enjoy the evening. He encouraged and kissed the side of my head.
"Hmmm," I hummed, closing my eyes and enjoying the sound of his heartbeat on my eardrums. His scent placated me as his hot breath fanned my forehead. I mellowed into his warmth and tenderness.
This man was my universe. From him came my world which were our children. Forever bonded by unbreakable love, where life went on
for us and love will never end.
"They are things that we could do to distract your mind, baby." With a suggestive tone, he slid a hand up my plum petal and pup Tuscany dress. The sparks lit up my arousal. Lifting my head to gaze into the fervor of his emerald eyes, I told him, "We can't do this here." Although I widened my legs for him to cup my pussy. I moaned out loudly. "Just be quiet, baby." He nibbled my neck, leaving marks as his fingers rubbed my silk underwear, stimulating my clitoris. Of their own volition, my hands went to his crotch and he groaned. I pulled the zip down and slipped my hand inside his pants to firmly grip his erection. Our actions heightened the point of our arousal and this would not be enough to sate our lust. "Oh goddess, I can't," I whispered, the feelings of the tingling sensation got sweeter and I wanted more. I wanted to lose control. "Let's go upstairs." Chuckling, he lifted me bridal-style as he rose from the couch. "Sounds good to me."
Vrrr! Vrrr! Vrrr! We both froze. His phone was vibrating. I grimaced and he scowled.
He lowered my feet to the ground and checked his phone. STCOW came up on the screen and I knew what that meant. His lips thinned and he looked at me apologetically, "I have to take this." "Yeah," I glowered and walked outside
into the garden to water my flowers. It's not that I couldn't stay throughout the call. He didn't keep things from me, but I wasn't in the mood to hear anything that could potentially spoil my day.
\-VANCE'S POV-
The Supernatural Triad Council couldn't have called at the worst time. Yet, it had to be important, so I went directly to my home study and closed
the door. I found my executive swivel chair and sat, leaning back and answering the phone.
"Vance, could you connect with us on a video call?" Ophelia, the witch queen entreated.
Cursing mentally, I sighed and powered up my laptop. Allucard and Roman were online too. A conference call like this most times indicated another fucking problem in the realms.
Whoever said that being a king was easy, obviously lied. Because ruling was never about ordering people around. Being King or Queen meant
securing the welfare of our people in all aspects and ensuring that officers, ministers, and others were doing their jobs and not abusing the system. "Greetings comrades," I hailed, despite my agitated mood.
"Vance," Roman inclined his head with a drink in his hand.
"Wolf King," Allucard terse, wearing his famous smirk. His attitude never got old and neither did the one look
that he sported with his long snow- white hair loosely down. Ophelia cleared her throat and heralded, "We will start with good news for you."
An extra video screen popped up on the live conference of a dark empty cell. The camera shifted around until I saw Allucard's vampire guards holding down an untouched Squiggles in chains with his hands behind him.
"As you can see, we've got the pussycat that you requested," Roman declared, stirring the glass of peach
brandy in his hand. I leaned in to carefully identify the culprit and smiled evilly. "I'll send my Gamma to collect him."
The Vampire King's success in capturing the rogue lion had him gloating. "He wasn't much of a challenge to arrest. Yet you let him get away. How disappointing was that?"
My emeralds flashed black to challenge his deadly garnet-red eyes. I growled, "Let's not forget about your fucking vampire problems." Allucard waved a hand dismissively. " A minor snag that's almost done."
"Gentlemen, please focus on our achievement and let us enjoy the moment." Ophelia chimed to break the tension.
Blayne was back from his vacation with Cleo and would be over the moon to know that he could go and collect the criminal who shot down his fighter jet.
When my home office door opened and clicked, the roses and strawberries hit my nose so I did not have to look up. I pressed the keyboard to zone in on the werelion's wretched face. The scurvy elephant of murderous thoughts blasted its trumpet in my head. I would like to see him grovel before his final breath left him.
"Come," I extended my arm for Sianna to slide into my lap to rejoice with me. I wanted her to see that Squiggles was detained, soon to be dead.
When my arm stayed in the air for some time, I muted the conference and worriedly asked, "Baby, what's wrong?"
