When I woke up, Blayne and Zoe were gone. After brushing my teeth and washing my face, I dug in the suitcase in the closet for a change of clothes.
One thing stood out. There were dresses and skirts in this one. Why? I hated skirts. My dress code was shorts, leggings or pants along with a top. Still, I can't be mad because it's not his fault for not knowing. In time, Blayne will learn this.
Being dismissive of the distasteful attire, I decided to stick to

Advancing to other issues, Hailey had recovered but lost the baby. This was all Blayne shared. I could only imagine her loss. It made me reflect on Zoe. She had lost her parents too. I took her as my own and would be torn if anything happened to her.
When Blayne pointed out that I was an outsider and therefore some things ought to be kept confidential, I felt bad. As much as I was his mate, he would not disclose anything else to me. Once the case was over, he promised to explain at that time. Why should I care then?

A phone rang.
It startled me and I jumped as the glass in my hand jerked upward and the orange juice spilled. Did Blayne leave his phone home? I chewed my waffle and rose from the chair to investigate by following the endless ringtone.
The incoming call brought me to the master bedroom at the night stand on the left side of the king-sized bed. I scooped it up after realizing that I had missed the note that was left under it.

I rolled my eyes, regardless of the flutter in my heart. "You could have mentioned that you bought me a phone."

"There is no need for you to be here." I left the room and went to finish my morning meal. I wouldn't have had a moment to breathe if he had been at home.
"Why? Are you up to something?" He queried impatiently.
"Wasn't Vance on your back to diligently oversee patrol?" I emitted fake concern to avoid him as I sat in the chair around the dining table. "I don't want you getting into trouble with the Alpha."
He fell for it. "It's nice that you worry about me. It's just that I missed you. Last night was wonderful."
It truly was blissful and I blushed at the memory of becoming totally undone beneath him. "Good. Well, I'm not going anywhere. I'll be here when you take Zoe home." I took up the crisp bacon and bit it, chewing.

bookmarked and leaned back in the recliner lounge chair.

"Is everyone doing okay?" First and foremost, their welfare was a

"Yes, but we were worried about you. When we tried to enter the territory, the Gamma refused us entry." Pasco explained with worry consuming his tone. "You did not respond to us when we mind- linked you. We began to think the worst. Sheldon fought with the Gamma and got a few broken bones, but he's healed now." "What?" Blayne kept that from me. I pursed my lips and grimaced.
"Yeah. Sheldon insisted that we went to find you and he was caught by the Gamma." He spoke slowly as though there was more bad news to follow. "He told us that you were fine when he threw Sheldon out but we did not believe him."
"I'm sorry, and you can let everyone know that I'm okay," I reassured him as best as I could. "No one is allowed to enter or leave
the pack grounds until Alpha Vance commands it. But not to worry, I am fine."
"Is there something else that you are not telling us? Why can't you come to see us?" This voice belonged to Sheldon, who failed to understand what complicated the matter. He was intentionally quiet on the link because of what transpired between him and Blayne. He
feared angering me.
There was no use in relating all that transpired when the charges against me were dropped. Therefore, I dismissed the option to divulge and replied, "It's not our business right now. Though I'm
unable to see any of you. Please hold tight until I give a directive on whether to stay or go."
"Aye Chieftain," Pasco acknowledged. "Be safe."
"Okay Chieftain," Sheldon closed his link.
Hours later.......
