Chapter 81 VISITORS
\-VANCE'S POV
(Two weeks since Vance went home).
"What is the prize for this year's winning team?" Alpha Drake inquired as he took his seat in the grand conference room.
"The best kill gets the chance for Elite training and to be promoted to Rank 5, in addition to $ 300,000.00 cash," Alpha Virgil announced, my brother was here.
Alpha Drake of the Obsidian Rose Pack nodded, while Alpha Juan of the White Clovers Pack whistled.
"That's a sweet deal this year," Luna Phoebe of the FireBrick Pack commented.
It was time for the Annual Hunters Parade that will be held at my pack. With Sianna and Valen, I preferred that we remained here than to be in another Alpha's Pack. So we will be hosting the event.
It's been two weeks since I returned home to my enchanting sanctuary. A week ago, we introduced Valen to the pack and held a blessing ceremony for him. A public explanation was given through fabrication to appeal to the pack members as to why they mourned his death and buried an empty casket. The truth could not be told that their Luna was so mad at their Alpha that she put me through an emotional hell. A dose of purgatory.
Blayne was very upset that he and I were being deceived by Sianna and the rest who knew the truth but could not tell us, out of their loyalty to her. He chased after Duke for a beat down, but Cleo appeased his temper.
The blessing ceremony was similar to a christening where the Elders appointed the moon goddess' blessing on Valen so that he grows strong, healthy, and successful in all his endeavors. It was a family and friends occasion in the werewolf world and not something mandatory for all pack members to attend.
Valen was so fat and chubby that I worry he was growing too fast. It fills my heart to have my family. My cock had also healed, so it is back to doing its job, giving it to her as soon as Valen goes to bed for the night. I do have the sweetest revenge planned for Sianna and she will get it when the time is right.
Since Chloe's death, there have been no further occurrences of killings. Things normalized and the pack was safe again. The mountain rogues have been placed in their dwellings until the constructions are completed as promised. Cleo and Blayne work well together and the slope of the land was undergoing site preparation. They completed and finalized the blueprints and landscaping plans. Everyone was happy, and it relaxed me.
My audience was large today as we gathered in the conference room. The Hunters Parade consisted of ten packs competing against each other in a hunt. There was a portion of my land that was reserved for hunting. This was one of the sports to influence cross-pack inter- relations among us. Anyone who has had warrior training may participate, given that their Alpha permits them to join the hunting team. Each team consisted of six individuals. Alphas, Betas, Gammas, and Elites oversaw the ent.
After which, the parade was done through the streets to show their kills as the main attraction. The bigger the animal, the more points were scored. The team with the most points wins, and the member with the biggest catch of that team wins the grand prize. All of this will be broadcasted throughout the werewolf world on our social feed.
Social media had become so important to my realm that I was thinking about having our own satellite for a television network. There were so many things that I truly aimed to do for my people.
It was a lot of work to set up and monitor the entire landscape with cameras but I find that our people enjoyed these competitions. Therefore, people from the other packs had already arrived to help us set up and reinforce the perimeter.
Here we were discussing small details before we went out to the forest to ensure that the setting was okay to proceed.
"My gears are ready and my team will definitely win," Hailey gloated, the typical cheerleader.
Duke narrowed his eyes at her but it was Raj who told her what he wanted to add, "Sweetie, you are not on the team."
"But....." She began to protest, turning sharply to face him. Raj stroked her hand to detain her anger.
"No favors, you did not qualify." Duke finalized. He obviously repudiated her participation. "Because you refused to let me hunt," Hailey pointed out, glaring at both men. She got up and came to sit next to Sianna and Valen who were at my side. Sianna chose not to interfere between the brother and his sister.
"We girls can always have our type of fun without the boys," Cleo mischievously remarked to soothe Hailey but it didn't make the males in the room comfortable.
"Sounds good," Sianna contributed. It was my time to glare at her.
"Maybe one year it could be the females against their mates," Keisha toyed with the idea, averting her eyes away from Duke who glowered.
Her comment stirred up a tide of murmuring among the Lunas and other females in the room. They all agreed on the concept.
"Ladies, these big boys are afraid of true competition," Luna Sarah jested, chuckling at my brother. He opens his mouth to say something but is cut off.
"We like to keep competitions with our mates in the bedroom," Alpha Nyko of the Spartan Silhouette Pack interrupted and kissed his Luna Raya on the cheek.
"Cowards," Cleo coughed, earning a warning look from Blayne.
"Scaredy-cats," Sianna backed her Gamma Female.
"Chickens," Luna Wanda chimed.
"Pussies," Luna Christine chirped.
The men fell into pin-drop silence as we were backed into a corner to man up to the challenge.
"Gentleman, it may be that we have no choice but to prove our dominance," Alpha Cypress of the Cardinal Boulders Pack quaintly admitted.
"Shall we leave it in the hands of the Lunas and their ladies in wait to arrange this event?" Alpha Terryl finally voiced his opinion, "But what about the rest of us who are unmated?"
"You could keep scores," Cleo's feisty response was received with laughter. "Alright," I drew their attention to the current affairs by clearing my throat. "Your teams arrive tomorrow, they can choose to camp on the lands at the mouth of the hunting site or here at the pack house." I peruse the document containing the list of team members. "Alphas, the choice is yours to make."
Twenty omegas walked into the room and stood at the podium. Heads bowed and neatly groomed in uniforms, they waited for the High Luna to place them.
"These are the omegas that are assigned to each pack while you enjoy your visit. They will ensure that you are catered for," Sianna said and introduced each one to the relevant Alphas.
"Each Alpha is responsible for ensuring that your team adheres to the rules and will stand the consequences of breaking them." I gave the reminder.
"You said that the trophy will be different this year?" Virgil inquired.
"The trophy will be a 24-karat gold of a large oversized wolf in the center, surrounded by smaller animals such as a deer, a boar, a cow, and a bear," Blayne explained proudly. It was his idea. He said that it would show that wolves were the dominant species.
"It will be shown at the beginning of the hunt," Duke added.
The Alphas bobbed their heads in approval. Blayne smiled and gave Cleo a wink.
"Well, my pack won last year and we plan on being the champions this year, so don't think that we will back down and go easy on anyone here." Alpha Mark of the Stark Raven Pack bragged, standing up and looking around the room with a smirk.
"Sit down, fuzzy butt," Alpha Anthony of the Midnight Warriors Pack teased, "Your team tied with mine, and the only reason that you took the trophy home, was because I let you have it." "Sore loser," Luna Monique backed her mate, Anthony, and we all laughed.
Alpha Mark shook his head, shrugged, and blew them off with a smug expression, "The results will speak in due time."
The rest of the meeting concentrated on the planned events and adjustments to the schedule. For instance, the ballroom was converted into a dining area where all meals will be served, instead of the pack house dining room. The omegas will be working overtime but will receive incentives as applicable by Sianna. We broke for lunch at 1:30 pm.
Raj and Hailey sat with his former Alpha. They were close friends. As they spoke, I could hear their conversation, not because I was eavesdropping, but because they spoke loud enough in the room.
"Raj, how are things with you?" Alpha Juan welcomed him into an embrace with a pat on the
back.
"Hailey, it is good to see you again." Luna Gena gave her a hug before they sat at the
rectangular table.
"We hope that all is well with you and the pack," Hailey answered back.
"We are good," Raj said, allowing Hailey to talk.
"The pack is great, I have a new Gamma." Alpha Juan told them, "Do you remember my
cousin, Aitken? I promoted him."
"Yeah, he will do a great job," Raj commended.
"I'm sorry for what you experienced at our pack," Luna Gena told Hailey, "I did not know you were suffering so much until they did what they did to Raj, and then you left." "You already apologized and I have swept it under the mat," She smiled and kissed Raj's cheek, "We are happy here." Hailey did not speak to anyone from White Clovers pack after she left and landed on my porch that night.
Alpha Juan and Luna Gena smiled genuinely. I was pleased that things remained good among
them.
I gave my attention to Sianna as she finished talking to Luna Sarah, my sister-in-law. I took Valen from her to give her hands a break. I bounced him on my leg and he chuckled, showing his gums. Sianna began to eat, conversing and not paying us any mind.
Alpha Mark came over from his seat, and bent his back over between Sianna and myself to whisper something in my ear, "Alpha Vance, I will need a minute of your time, if you don't
mind."
Before I could answer, Valen cried out and fussed. His eyes stuck on Alpha Mark as his tears ran down his cheek. "Could you step away from my Luna?" I ordered him.
Once he took two steps back, Valen went silent but keenly watched the intruder. Sianna had turned and rubbed Valen's back but he pouted after that fierce cry and opened his mouth for sounds to emit as if he was complaining to his mother.
"We've got one hell of a possessive pup," I said and the others laughed and smiled.
"I know baby, but mama's right here," Sianna said to Valen in response to his baby sounds, "
Daddy will get the Alpha if he comes near again."
Valen looked at me, I lifted him in the air and kissed his nose.
"Alpha," Blayne spoke over the mind-link, "A visitor is at the border."
"Do I really have to ask you to tell me who it is, Blayne?" I retorted as I played with my son.
"It's Raj's mom, should we allow her in?" He was concerned about Duke and Hailey's feelings
towards their monster-in-law.
I sighed, "Let Duke handle it."
Immediately, he opened the link for Duke to join the conversation.
"I'll go to the border and see what she wants," Duke replied angrily. He stood and Blayne
accompanied him.
"Where are you two off to?" Keisha asked, placing her glass on the table. Cleo was just as eager
to know. "We are going to see how the setting up of the tents is progressing," Duke leaned down and kissed her forehead, "I'll be back soon." They left the room.
My phone vibrated and balancing Valen with one hand, I reached into my shirt pocket and
checked the message from Miriam.
Message:-
Miriam: I am in your office. Let's have a talk, alone.
The urgency was easily detected in her words. Once you get to know Miriam, her words
conveyed meanings behind a particular situation.
"Sianna, my love," I got my mate's attention.
She turned as I handed Valen to her. Happily, he smiled as she took him, hands reaching to
touch her face, his legs flexing in delight.
"I have to get something in my office. I won't be long." Kissing both my mate and son on the
cheek, I straightened my shirt as Alpha Mark stood but I shook my head to indicate that this was not the time to talk. He took back his seat.
Walking to my office across the compound to the pack house, I found a troubled old woman
waiting for me. After entering, I secured the door.
"Miriam, what is troubling you?" The urgency was a hunch that trouble was on our hands
again.
"My dear boy, Curtis is here........in your pack."
