Chapter 38 EXES
Sianna's POV
My blood was ablaze and I was ready to kill. It's not that Gail was his ex, but it was her act of trying to use her sex appeal to sway some compassion from Vance. Then, when I gripped her to teach her a lesson, he held me back and Duke took her ten feet away from me. Does he still love this woman?
"Are you trying to kill me because I'm his ex-girlfriend, Luna?" Gail spat out contemptuously, Duke held one of her arms behind her back tightly. Even though he made sure to apply ample pressure to cause her pain, she still found the gall to mock me. "Then you might as well kill Esme too. She fucked him up to the day before he met you!"
All this time Helios was trying to tell his daughter to shut her mouth. This one was obviously one of the spoilt ones. "Gail, shut the fuck up."
Duke with the palm heel of his hand, pulled her up and stroked her just below her chin, snapping her head back and knocking her out. "That's enough out of you!"
This was sufficient to convict her of having a grudge against the Wolverson Pack.
Frozen, what she said replayed in my head. I chose to compose myself to not show face, but when I recalled the times that he had been alone with Esme at the pack house, I was steaming with fury. If I looked at her, I was going to kill her. I released a fiery exhale. Did he still care for this woman? Too much insecurity began to swim into me.
Seeing that I wasn't going to blow the lid, Vance continued. "Revive her!" Duke would have had to use his high beta command to hijack her mind to force her wolf to revive her. She came to consciousness in ten seconds. Vance went over to her and I repressed my wolf from the desire to hinder Vance from going near her.
He held her by the chin, "Vance," she whispered weakly with a set of fresh tears glazing her eyes. Another disrespect, not using his title, denoted that she was on his level, which no other wolf except me, his Luna, and those he held dear could reference him that way.
His lethal aura filtrated the environment and by now the entire pack would have felt his commanding presence ready to give a death sentence. The pack suddenly went quiet and Helios' breathed nervously thinking that he's about to mourn the loss of his daughter. This was the Vance I knew before he became my mate.
His thunderous voice quaked the grounds. "I, High Alpha Vance Wolverson hereby give out the edict that Gail Howlers is guilty of the crime of treason and theft from the Dark Wolverson Pack and smuggling with the intent to engage war against Wynder Moon Pack without just cause."
"Fuck." Helios uttered vainly. Gail's eyes locked with Vance. She was shaking her head as if to remove him from her mind, but he held her hostage. She couldn't look away if she tried. This was an Alpha's contact lock. She made a series of low, feeble sounds expressive of fear and pain. The veins on her temples bulged and her face flushed red.
Vance continued despite her loud whimpering. "With this verdict I render you, Gail Howlers of the Blood Howlers Pack, wolfless and hereby sever the bond between you and all wolves in existence."
"Ahhhhhhhh!" She screamed, and woeful mournings came from different angles of the pack as they felt the death of her wolf gone with the wind. I pitied her, but more so, her father. She was now a nobody within our world. She'd have to live with the humans with no contact with the werewolf community. If she attempted to cause any trouble later with any wolf, her death would be ordered.
"The Howlers name is no longer associated with you," Vance concluded coldly. His face was dead of all emotions.
Her scream echoed through the air, piteous howls ensued at the loss of their pack member. I empathized with their pain but knew it had to be done. This was worse than death for us wolves. However, peace was essential and it was our duty to enforce that among our specie.
To the two warriors who had apprehended her and brought her in earlier, Vance commanded them, still in his High Alpha mode. "Take her to the nearest human city."
To Alpha Helios, "I don't have to remind you of what will happen to your pack should you retaliate in any form."
With his head bowed to indicate his respect, Helios gave his oath, "I will not have anything further to do with Gail, neither me, my kindred nor this pack will retaliate."
A van parked where the trunks were and our warriors stepped out to load the back with the trunks. With one last look at the Alpha, Vance took my hand in his and walked off to the Benz that had taken us to the pack house. Duke and Esme followed. The warriors disappeared with Gail.
Vance held my hand but his fatal aura was still heavily oozing out. I stroked his chest and his body slowly calmed. He looked at me and smiled. I kissed his cheek. He rested his forehead on mine as Duke drove the car to the helicopter.
When we arrived home, I got to the shower and closed the door. I wanted to know about his relationship with Esme, since Gail was not an issue anymore. When I was done, he went in next. He knew I was not being myself but he said nothing.
After he showered and came out, I was in the bed in my lavender satin pajamas cami shorts set nightwear. My breasts had become rounder and my nipples projected. His eyes kept on them as he made it into bed.
He licked his lips and leaned across to kiss my cheeks. His left hand rubbed my tummy while he slandered my neck with kisses. Tingles ran across my stomach and his sexy voice was turning me on, stirring up a sexual appetite. I didn't need to be turned on right now so I cautiously brushed him away. "Babe."
"Yes, love." He tried to come back to give me more kisses but I brushed him away a second time. He took this moment to find out what was bugging me. "What's wrong, sweetheart?"
"Why do you hang around Esme so much? Are you in love with her?"
He chuckled like I just gave the most humorous joke. "I never thought I'd see my mate so jealous.'
"It's not jealousy. I knew you have fucked her, but I didn't realize that things were so deep between you too. Do you have unresolved feelings for her?" My mind recalled the vile things Curtis had told me in the bunker. It was time to know where I stood with him. Was our relationship real?
He placed a finger on his lips and grimaced. "Esme and I had an intimate agreement until we found our mates. I found you, so she's history."
"Just like that?" I thought about the baby that she miscarried and their prior engagement.
"Yes," He said adamantly, "I never loved her. It's nothing like what we have. It's definitely not the same."
"But she was pregnant, and also your fiancée?" My expression hardened as I asked him firmly. I adjusted the pillow behind my back to sit up comfortably in the bed. He sensed that I was getting annoyed as hell.
Sighing heavily, he rested his head in my lap, turning on his back to be able to look at me. "Esme was......" He ate the rest of his words, seemingly unable to be forthcoming.
"Maybe I should spend two weeks with my parents while you try to figure out what you need to tell me," I pinched his chest with anger.
"No," he quickly said," You aren't leaving me." He got out of my lap and pulled me into his chest.
"Why shouldn't I?" I pounded his chest with my fists for release out of his arms, which was futile. "Aren't you with me because I'm a healer?"
"Oh goddess, no Sianna." He turned his head slightly and looked into my gloomy eyes. "Don't ever think that."
"I can't believe that you could unlove someone overnight. I want to know the truth about you and her. Are you only with me until you get your heir?"
"Where did you get these false notions?"
I blocked my mind so that the image of Curtis wouldn't come back to me. "You can't even be direct about her. What else should I think?"
"Esme and I found comfort in each other. Our arrangement worked and I was thinking of choosing her as my Luna, but I met you right on time before I made that drastic mistake." I held his deep green eyes on mine, searching for any sign of remorse." The pregnancy was a mistake, the conception was induced by drugs that she put in my drink. I couldn't see her as the same person after that. Sex with her became strained."
"She drugged you?" Curtis was right about her being savage, that devious wench.
"Yes," he kissed me on the forehead. Tenderly, he pushed my back on the bed and hovered over me. Taking my lips into his. My back arched forward as his tongue licked a long stripe of my neck and a moan betrayed me. "I love only you, Firecat."
"Are you done spending time with her?" The kisses were distracting me from asking all the questions that I had.
He hugged me with his right hand by letting it slip behind my back and curling around my waist. "She goes on assignments for our pack. She is very good at handling political affairs that stem across the packs. With the team given to her, she also manages to scoop around and bring back information to us. We might be powerful, but I won't be lax. I want my family for generations to come to have the same power and wealth, if not more."
"My wolf hates her." I bit his lip to express my jealousy. Taking it out on him was a good option.
"But you were so friendly with her."
"That's before I knew she got to have your lusciously, long and thick dick that belongs to me." I poked his chest. He held my finger and kissed it. "I thought you loved her dearly."
"I am sorry but no woman will be a problem for you. They know better than to cause a rift between us." I felt no assurance, but as long as no other woman brought it up or exes surfaced, I should be okay. I thought about how I would deal with it if another ex-lover suddenly popped up in our lives again.
"Sianna?" I turned my head to the side to look into his face. "Speaking of exes, why did you reek of Curtis the night of the Luna ceremony?"
I struggled to put the memories together but then it hit. Damn! He can't know. What do I say? "Babe, what did you mean?" "Where did you and Curtis sneak off to when you both left the bunker?" He asked.
Fuck! He knows. He's just seeing if I would tell him or protect Curtis. This is not good. I can't tell him! I am panicking and my heart is beating too fast. I know that he knows that I am keeping something away from him.
"Vance, let's talk about this in the morning." I slid into my sleeping position with my back facing his chest. I covered up to my neck with the sheet and closed my eyes to ignore him.
"I won't be able to sleep until you answer me, and your entire attitude tells me that you might be hiding something. What are you keeping from me, or should I drag Curtis to the dungeons to interrogate him myself?"
I sighed wearily, turned on my back, and looked into his demanding eyes. "Honey, we had a long day and I don't want us talking about sore issues."
"This is your last chance to tell me." He said, hoping to disguise the rising anger that threatened to change the atmosphere.
"Fine," I groaned and let my words collide with each other in my quick speech. "Curtis told me that you placed him as my personal guard while you went to meet the rogues." I watched him in a way to deliberately avoid potential problems, if I could but his eyes darkened. Already he was on the brink of going lethal.
I paused briefly knowing he was going to blow. And I was not going to be able to calm him down. "Please don't deal with this tonight! Please."
His dark eyes remained fixed and unchanged and he said nothing. To me, this was when he was most dangerous, when I couldn't read his thoughts or expressions. Only his fabricated anger struck every nerve in my body through the mate bond.
"Curtis, tried to convince me that he and I could still be together if I went away with him." My words were said slowly this time and Vance's disposition was unaltered.
"How did he touch you?" His deep baritone meant that the border of all tranquility was eroded.
Beyond any doubt, he was going to go after Curtis. Shit! I don't want Curtis hurt.
"He thought that maybe I was with you because I had no choice, so we cleared that misunderstanding up. He is still heartbroken and it takes time to heal." I dug deep to come up with my doe-eyes but failed. His aura was overpowering but I wasn't imitated, just worried that the hours were numbered for Curtis' life.
"How did he touch you, Sianna?" He scratched his head in frustration with his left hand. "I have sent the command to have him picked up and kept in the dungeon till morning. Have you missed out on any crucial details that I would come to know of when I force it out of him?"
"He was forcing me to go with him and I had to use my Luna command for him to stop."
"Is that it?" His razor-sharp eyes locked on me.
I nodded, "Yes, can we go to sleep now?"
He pulled me towards him so that my head would rest on his chest. I knew this was far from the end of it. I closed my eyes and eventually sleep came, thankfully. But when I woke up in the morning, Vance was not in bed or in the house. Damn!
