Chapter 139 2-11 - SLEEP PARALYSIS
\-VALEN'S POV-
Music.
The alluring symphony of the sea invaded my ears like a nightingale's tale; gentle and pleasant on the eardrums and similar to a music box. Sung at a deliberate tempo, the chorus went on and on. Its musical chord lured me into an awakening light.
Dudump. Dudump. Dudump.
Suddenly, my heart pulsed back to life as the softest lips touched mine, parting them. They did not move until air entered my system. Somehow, I was alive and breathing again. Perplexed, spiritless, and paralyzed in the deepest parts of the frigid sea.
My black lids fluttered open. The stinging sea water blurred my vision. I felt this slippery person pressing against me even though I could not see. A hand was knotted in my black dancing strands and the other rested on the broadness of my right shoulder.
When my lips got their freedom, I thought this person would help me get to the surface. Instead, my drenched brain realized I was being guided lower to the bottom of the chilling sea.
Why am I here?
Fingers touched my eyes. My vision cleared and the beauty before me stopped my heart. Stunned, I exhaled through my nose and bubbles emerged. Her welcoming smile held something disturbing in it with menacing mulberry eyes that trapped your soul into them.
It was her.
A beautiful mystery of the sea. The one who kept me alive. And none other than the ruthless mermaid who rained terror in my dreams. For a moment, I gazed, immersing myself in her gleaming seductive orbs.
Whereas, the song that she released pacified the brewing disorientation that lingered in my head and I was mesmerized. Unable to look anywhere else from the picturesque background of the swarm of jellyfish doing graceful ballet behind her as they open and close their bells in their luminescent hues of pink and yellow to scoot away.
The small glistening scales on her outer arms matched the same prepossessing aquamarine ones on her curved tail. Except for the orange clam shells that encased each of her rounded breasts, her top half was bare. Snow-white tufts of hair moved fluidly to the tune of an underwater current. The sodium water, I realized, altered the dual blend of her deep grey to teal blue hair.
Questions formed in my head that could not be verbalized. The enveloping sea water hindered any interaction. Opening my pursed lips would allow the intrusive water to get into my mouth to suffocate me once more. Victimized, I could only stare at her like a hawk. The frustration and stress manifested a dull throbbing in my temples, leading to shortness of breath.
I wanted answers from her. At least, she owed me that much. The paralysis held me calm on the outside, but internally, I was a raging storm. What the fuck was her intention? In this pelagic environment, her delicate touch and enchanting smile that could make a man buckle to his knees were all a fake paradise.
The siren's call prolonged with a sensual melody, teasing and toying with my brain. My wolf and guardians were absent and unreachable. Making me a pathetic human and not the formidable werewolf prince that I was.
Powerless and distressed, I had to get out of the sea. Never once in my dreamland had she ever been benevolent. My tingling fingers fought to move. Where the hell was she taking me, anyway? And why was I consistently weak before her? Why does she always become my bitter end?
Perennial paralysis.
A continual source of serenity was presumably located inside her deceptive eyes, blending with the astounding diversity of aquatic life and coral lining the ocean floor. Three dolphins minded their own business and glided by. Conversely, the curious aggregation of parrotfishes drew near to investigate, but only to swim away so fast as though something had scared them.
Eventually, my feet landed on the dark-colored rocks of seabed amidst the luxuriant thicket of yellow staghorn reefs and the variety of small colorful fishes that swam away from our intruding presence. Following this, her right fingers spider-danced on my firm chest before she drew tiny shapes over my heart. Noticeably, they spelled the word "cursed."
Fuck! I knew what that implied.
The vanished smile wiped any form of beautiful goodness from her face and only pure evil ugliness was left in the contours. She downturned her kissable lips in contempt. Those vile purple eyes held no sympathy as her elongated claws plunged deep into my heart.
Stifling an agonizing cry, I coughed out blood that diluted the water, contaminating it with a light redness which dispelled as it spread. My tendons clenched as I contorted with pain and every fiber in me
tensed.
I had to endure the wretched affliction or take in water because the oxygen that she lent me was almost depleted as a result of the constriction of my lungs. Drowning was inevitable.
The anguished, broken voice in my head yelled, why do you harm me? What have I ever done to you? Get me out of this fucking
nautical prison!
Without stopping, she rung her fingers inside my poorly functioned
organ as though she was unlocking a combination to a vault going two times to the left and three times to the right and repeating. I grunted repetitiously.
Afterward, she raked her claws south, pealing flesh and leaving long bloody lines of marred lacerations that would not heal. I gagged as blood gushed out of me while the water got past my throat. The seawater helped her in tormenting me as it severely stung and intensified the deep wound's blistering. This was excruciating beyond description. Paralyzed, I watched as she robbed me of my life. I had been saved by this beauty who shared air with me, only for her to take it back from me.
She was my worst enemy. I swear to the moon goddess that I will track down this half-fish bitch and make her bleed. Because of the sleepless nights that she deprived me of, and for all the pain and suffering that she mentally put me through, I won't stop until I cut
her fucking head off.
The hour of death arrived.
This time, I died with an ominous pair of mulberry eyes glaring directly into my animus, green orbs and a cruel mouth that shaped the words: "I don't ever want to see you again in any lifetime."
Blackness.........
\-VANCE'S POV-
"Alpha, we have an intruder in the pack."
Marlena, the pack witch, poked her voice into my head. She had opened up a telekinetic channel for communication.
"Where?" Instantly I sensed the impending peril of someone who did not belong in the pack. It was 2:07 am. The violator must have a
death wish.
I gently raised Sianna's head from my arm and placed it down on her
pillow, careful not to wake her. Quietly, I snuck out of bed and went directly to my closet to don a black jeans and T-shirt in the darkness. My wolf's intrinsic eyesight assisted in the portly blackness, thus equipping my emerald eyes with enhanced night vision. Using only my fingers, I raked my shoulder-length black strands slick back in a quick ponytail.
"There is a brooding energy at the ritual temple. I...." Marlene trailed off. I knew she was working her powers while reporting to me." Someone is here for the Coyolxäuhqui stone of the moon goddess." "Shit." Immediately, I opened a conferencing mind-link that adjoined to the witch's telekinesis. "Fellas, we've got company. Head
to the temple now."
Blayne's dull voice chipped in, "On my way."
Duke yawned and replied inaudibly, "Who the fuck is this bold?"
"Marlena, how many are they and what species?" I zipped down the stairs and out the door at my highest speed.
It was obvious that they weren't rogues or shifters. This burglar had
to be a magical being such as a fairy, fae, witch, or something else. To get past our security systems and protocol to reach this far meant that he or she was not to be underestimated.
"I detect only one person of warlock blood. I've already teleported
and I'm holding him off until you get there." Marlene actioned, her voice strained over the mental link.
In the meantime, Blayne ordered the elites and warriors into an
attack formation to lie low. Duke reached out to Raj to join us.
"Sianna, be on the alert." Waking her up with my voice projections in
her head, I quickly enlightened her of the situation. "We have a yellow code threat."
"Alright, I'll mind-link the pack and be on the lookout. Be careful,
baby." She returned, with urgency. "The kids and I will be at the pack house."
When we got to the temple of our ritual house, yellow and blue lights flickered through the dark stained windows. The bronze gilded front door was blasted open as we entered.
In the grand hall, Marlene performed hand signals, summoning and manipulating her energy into a blue sphere of fireballs, and sent them towards the darkly cloaked silhouette that dodged and return similar attacks that resulted in small explosions on the walls. Brick chunks cracked and dropped to the ground.
Blayne, Duke, and I had to avoid the yellow lightning bolts that came
directly at us. The enemy had a lightning charge in his right hand and the bolts fanned out to attack us simultaneously. We dived in separate directions in an effort to evade danger. His left hand emitted a dark smoky matter that he sailed after Marlena. Because she stood in front of the altar to guard the Coyolxauhqui stone against being confiscated, he was hell-bent on getting her out
of the way.
I morphed into my massive super-size black wolf and roared. The effect of which lifted him off the floor and sent him thudding loudly against the wall behind him. Our eardrums felt like it was going to pop from the screeching he blared.
Being lithe, he reflexively flicked himself over and landed on his feet in a crouching position with his right palm flat on the floor to support himself. Switching his eyes from us to Marlena, he knew that he would not achieve his goal today, though it did not daunt his
determination.
The enemy levitated in the air with a ball of yellow transparent light encompassing his body. Duke and Blayne attacked in wolf form. Arrow-like lights ambushed them from getting close to him as they continued their toil.
Raj finally appeared on the scene, shirtless and in brown boxers. Reacting on impulse, he shifted and attempted to jump on the enemy from the back. While I transformed into my nude human form and bit my right wrist to allow my blood to drip on the divine circle that
was carved into the floor for rituals.
My blood ran along the outline of the divine circle which activated with a crimson-red glow. The temple walls and floor reflected veiny red lines flowing up to the pinnacle of the ceiling. Marlena maintained her guarding stance at the altar. Then Duke's
dark sandy blonde wolf, Blayne's coffee brown wolf, and Raj's oxblood wolf lunged at the shadow in a frenzied manner while avoiding the laser beams of magic that the enemy fired.
A strong fury boiled in my blood and the temple became heavy with my bulbous lethal aura. Prolonging this fight was not only desecrating the ritual house, but it would inevitably destroy it.
"Stand down boys," I commanded, in order for my aura not to affect
them. I extended my claws and slashed in the air. Four red blade-like diagonal lines emerged and sharply gusted at the enemy.
He discharged a shield that Marlena countered and dispelled so that my supernatural blades slashed through his cloak and into his flesh. It pinned him eight feet high on the veiny red wall that burned him.
The black cloak unveiled as he thrashed to get away and his true appearance was displayed.
The foe's red serpentine eyes flamed with hatred. The three black tendrils at his mouth area flapped in the air when his screeches echoed with brutality. His callused knotty fingers clawed at his burning brown mossy hair and his buffalo neck swiveled his charcoal
face towards me as his swine nose wrinkled, exhaling scratchy breaths.
Black blood which smelled like faecal matter spewed out of his carob
pod-like chest, abdomen, and feet. His left shoulder was amputated from his body, and his arm leaked heavily inky blood. Smoke evaporated from him.
He coughed up blood, choking. The fucking bastard was badly hit.
Served him right for thinking that he could invade my pack and leave
with his rotten stinking life. Marlena outstretched her right arm like an eagle's claw and descended him to the floor. His life was slowly depleting. "Who are you?" I strolled over to his body, stooping to harshly his chin between my thumb and index fingers. "Why are you trying to steal my Coyolxauhqui stone?"
