Chapter 101 BONUS CHAP. 11 - HOUSEBOUND II
\-CLEO'S POV
The throbbing of my head awakened me. Then I became painfully aware of the strange surroundings as well as deep, regular breathing somewhere nearby. Turning toward the sound, I groaned because the slight movement made the headache worse. By the time I glimpsed him sprawled in the gray leather armchair to the left of the room door, my eyelids were already fluttering.
For a moment, he smiled at me with his handsome face entrancing me. His long brown fringes ruffled messily from his forehead. The tight-fitted black shirt he wore with the number 23 on it was
rumpled with the middle ripped open like he was in a fight with
someone.
Stupidly, I started to return the smile due to the butterflies that churned in my stomach. Then, as recollections of the situation came to light, I frowned. My face contorted into the wickedest sight.
The son-of-a-bitch abducted me and brought me to his house. That's right. He knocked me out with the classical chop spot on the neck. My temper emerged to a minimal level because my wolf was ecstatically happy. His smell was intoxicating and my wolf was purring like a spoilt kitty.
"Does the Alpha know that you kidnapped me and dragged me here?" I teetered between anger and contempt, effectively stopping whatever he was about to say.
The surrounding was a master bedroom with a color scheme of gray and sage green. Glass window walls to the left that overlooked the quiet neighborhood gave natural light to the ninety square feet of space from the scintillating sun, that led out to a stacked balcony of aluminum rails with more glass. The walls were decorated with posters of cars and guitars except for the one with a large plasma TV that hung seven feet high.
I sat in a dark grey luxurious crystal button-tufted upholstered king- sized bed that had matching night tables at the side. All the furniture matched in color. Further to his left was a closet. Another door that broke from the featured wall behind the bedhead was the ensuite. A large dresser with a single mirror was right in front of the bed and instead of hanging light fixture in the ceiling, I discovered a large rectangular mirror that elongated over the bed.
How typical! I bet he had brought a lot of she-wolves into this room and had fun with that mirror. Pervert! He was one of those guys who saw women as sex objects. And after the grisly past that I had with the Alpha's abusive son, who took advantage of me because I was a young and helpless omega, I vowed never to be that weak again.
I found strength in myself and developed a sturdy resolve in my individualism. Conversely, this brute wanted me to submit to him. Never!
The mountains could no longer be my home and moving here gave this man additional ways to interfere with my life. I had to think of my people. I sighed. The terrible truth was that he was never going to leave me alone. There was no peace for me at Dark Wolverson Pack with a hounding Gamma as my mate.
In the mirror, I glimpse my train-wrecked self. My blond bob appeared more like a knotted mop than strands. At least, I was in my clothes, but barefooted. It seemed that he did not touch me while I was unconscious.
Silently, he observed me as I surveyed the area.
There were no traffic noises. The place was surprisingly quiet and it felt homely despite the man cave that it was.
"I'm sorry. I thought this would be a better place to stay instead of the dungeon." He said and I glowered. "I didn't like you being in there." When I did not rebut, he went on to note, "I only want the best for you."
I scoffed, "And that's you?"
"Come on. Don't be like that." He leaned forward in the chair. " Despite what you think or feel for me, I care about you, Cleo. I can't deny how I feel and it's tormenting me." He palms his head in his hands, then casts his eyes on me. "I'm so aroused by your anger and strength to the point where my cock feels like it's going to blow up." With fierce raunchy eyes, he added, "I want you, woman."
The headache generated much disinclination to pursue the argument. I rubbed my temples. His hefty hand literally knocked the daylights out of me.
"Please lie down," he urged gently. "The headache will fade soon."
Ignoring him, I voiced, "When do I go back to Regant? You know the mountains where I am from?" He frowned so I blasted, which only flared the headache. "I was acquitted of charges and it's against the law to hold me hostage."
Rising from the armchair, he crossed the floor to sit on the edge of the bed. I moved back to get far away from him.
"All other laws are superseded by national security," he wittingly replied matter-of-factly.
"National security?" I lashed and dropped my pitch quickly. Shouting at this hard-headed man hurt too much.
He continued in the same tone, "You are a vital person in this case. Whoever the perpetrator is, they want to use you to achieve their rotten goals. If you were found guilty, Vance would have executed you. But since you are innocent, we cannot afford to have you in the way of our plans."
"Even so, you are abusing your authority." I cried. "How dare you!"
With a shrug, he insisted, "Everyone knows that you hate me. No one would think that you'd be here. And I'm within my right to protect my innocent mate."
"I have not accepted you." I glared at him as the heat rose behind my smouldering eyes.
"That's not what you said a few nights ago." A dirty smile tugged on his lips.
Humiliation.
He had to resort to reminding me of how embarrassing my behavior was during the heat. Worst of all, to know that I'll keep experiencing it as long as he was my mate. Urgh!
"Think of Zoe." He rose from the bed and gazed at me. "She misses
you and I promised her that I'd take her to you." He used his hands to refer to his apartment. "She'll enjoy being here with you. Just tell me what you need and I'll go shopping. Besides, Luna Sianna or
Keisha will help."
"You thought of everything, didn't you?" I spat with hatred. He was overbearing and controlling when making decisions for me. Dismally, I've got to put up with him until my people are settled here. The sad reality was, this despicable dogmatic Gamma was never going to let me slip away. I was in his clutches and he was aware of it.
I pursed my lips as ideas rolled over in my head.
I needed a plan.
I should reject him.
His wolf must have sensed my thoughts because he growled, disapprovingly and emitted a flaming aphrodisiac need that filled the room. Stupid mate bond!
My heart panged with a greater sadness and my headache got worse.
I lay down to rest my head on the pillow that waft his scent up my nostrils. The absorption made the pain bearable.
He walked and stopped in the doorway, talking to me sideways. "The fridge and cupboards are filled with food. I realize that you hate medication but there's a bottle of painkillers on the night table to your left." Then his eyes softened with loving kindness, and my insides mushed with warmth. I turned my head away. "Just so you know, I have elite guards watching my place, so if you try to run away, I'll know." He pointed a warning finger at me. "And if you do that, I'll tie you up to my bed forever."
Those words aroused me. Being tied up with him drilling my insides
flashed across my mental sight. This was a danger zone. It was one thing to be in the same territory as him when at least I could create distance between us. But it was another thing to be in his home, lying in his bed and battling conflicting emotions.
"I have rounds to do but I'll be back with Zoe." He promised and left.
Why do I hate this man again? I was beginning to forget. Oh right, he's a man whore who wants to control my life. Yeah, when hell freezes over.
