22. Immortals and their Mates

"The entire city and its vampires are preparing for the Masquerade Nicholas, do not disappoint me," Lord Damien addressed him who gave him a curt nod his palms forming fists on his sides.

"You are dismissed, give my best regards to Riley, she's the best choice you could make. I am really glad you decided to drop the entire mate thing unlike the dog formed brother of yours," He spoke, his tone trimming down to full of disgust as he referred to Christian. Nicholas knew he had to keep his anger at bay, a little flinch and his father would catch that there was something that they were hiding.

"I was wondering if he could enter the territory just for the evening, it would be good to have him on such an important day," Nicholas tried to bargain, he wanted to give this a try again, to see if his father's heart had finally softened up a bit. It had been over four centuries now, wasn't that enough of hatred.

The Lord's eyes immediately shot up, glaring at Nicholas, even the mere suggestion had managed to anger him more than he wanted to show.

"No Nicholas. He isn't. He's an abomination, his entire race is. We are greater, pure and not some freaking animal. This city is build for nobel creatures like us, letting him come here would pollute that and I cannot allow that. I expect you to do the same, remember you both do not share the same father. You are better. Tell me you understand," Damien finished his statement, his eyes spitting fire of hatred towards Christian and his species. Nicholas stood there, his eyes lowered, not out of fear or respect but to control his own urge to pounce upon his father and end him and his stupid ideologies for once.

But that cannot be done. His father is immortal, he cannot die. Not even with the regular stakes that are used to kill vampires nor by beheading. Nicholas had already tried that using expert killers but it wouldn't work.

"I understand, my Lord," Nicholas spoke, his eyes for once meeting Damien's, all the previous emotions now masked as he gave him a little bow before leaving the throne room.

He felt angered, the feeling of ripping his soul out of his body resurrecting as he stood outside. He was the only thing standing between him and Christian truly being happy, he always has.

And he wanted to change it.

The first would be a fresh start with Immery.

"If you don't mind can I ask you something?" Immery questioned Christian softly as they walked across the dirt path, their feet bare soaking in the warmth of the soil.

"Lily dropped me off your mother's journal today, she had asked her to do it before passing away. But the journal ended so abruptly so I wondered if you had any answers," Immery asked casually as she slipped her hand against Christian's, letting them touch slightly at their sides.

"She and my father, Daniel met with an accident shortly after she had given birth to me and Nick, unfortunately that's the only information that was given to us," Christian agonized in a wobbly voice, the thoughts of his past always haunted him even when he tried to hide them under a smile.

Immery's hand that was just touching Christian's now slipped against them, fitting into the gaps of his fingers perfectly before she gave a small squeeze. Immery did not remember her actual family much, but it was similar, an accident and then nothing.

She simply landed in that house who called them her relatives but never treated her like one. She could swear that she saw the dreams of her parents sometimes and another young girl...she liked to think that was her sibling.

"But I see the journal has found its rightful owner. I had tried to get it so many times from Lily, even used my Alpha advantages on her but she did not compel," Christian teased earning a giggle from Immery. He was actually glad she was here, listening him rather than questioning and wanting to know more. He would tell her ofcourse but not just right now.

There was this invisible string of understanding between them like a simple intimacy of near touch, that they both could feel each time they were looking into each others eyes, holding hands or just being around.

"So ready for a ride ?" Christian asked as he let go of her hand and started stripping, he had already wasted too many pieces of clothing in his life, this one

Immery took a step back as she gazed at him, sure she had seen him bare before but not in broad sunlight, she did not want to ogle but it was impossible to not let her eyes wander down his peaky abs, the tightened muscles of his stomach and the down below.

Christian definately did not miss her eyes that were spying his body, nor how her lips slightly parted or how she He wanted to stay like that, being the art that Immery was admiring intensely but he did want to let Alec stretch his legs a little, he was practically screaming for him to transform in his mind.

"Make yourself comfortable on my back once I transform, take a firm grip around my neck," Christian spoke softly as Immery's trance broke and she bobbed her head constantly at him to avoid the embarrassment.

Christian quickly transformed with a loud animalistic groan, tearing his lower garments into shreds. Immery looked at the majestic wolf that now stood in front of her, she moved forward, patting the grey-black fur earning a rough purr before climbing on his back.

Immery smiled widely as Alec started to strode through the forest, gaining pace while Immery hold on to him tightly, she did notice a deep cut around his neck, the same chain sitting against the flesh, wounding the skin.

She decided to ask him later about it, all she wanted to do now was bask in the wilderness with him.

"I didn't think you were the type to lose your sanity for a girl. But its been twice now so maybe I was wrong," Christian smirked as he spoke the words, Nicholas immediately gave him a sharp discouraging look.

"I didn't either. Now I don't know what to say or do when I enter the house and face her," Nicholas sighed as he ran his fingers through his hair, in a desperate attempt to find out a solution.

One hand he was supposedly getting married to Riley and on the other he didn't want to let go of Immery. It's to only keep her alive, he assures himself but he knows its not true. Everytime he looks at her he notices how her red hair bounces on her shoulder, carving her face perfectly, her big doe eyes staring into his, her lips softly parting as she spoke or when she laughed care freely at one of Christian's lame jokes.

He wanted to be the reason for that silly smile of hers too, and he knew he had to work for it. Immery though still timid had a strong personality which was starting to show. It would only get solidified once she turned into a vaewolf.

"Just talk okay. It always helps. Also the Masquerade huh ? Riley filled me in once I returned back after running some errands," Christian enquired while Nicholas nodded.

"I tried to persuade him to let you come, fake or real its a big deal for the family," Nicholas said not trying to hide the sorrow in his voice.

"You know that I would literally get fried like a rooster if I even try to enter the territory," Christian tried to brush it off with a chuckle as he pointed at the chain around his neck, but all that came out was a sad sob, he knew he was better at hiding than this but sometimes you just want to let it out.

"You can't die remember? You are an immortal !" Nicholas remarked at his words. He hated even the glimpse of the chain, it was the only thing that prevented his brother from entering his own city, the city that once bloomed with the love and respect between the vampire and werewolf communities.

The Wonderhoods were not just any royal family, they were the descendants of the first Vampire and Werewolf, created by the magical spell of the greatest witch of all times Rowana, belonging from Liam's coven. They were immortals, but they lacked the ability to reproduce this made Rowana bless a nobel human bloodline with the ability to bear their kids, by forming the mate bond between the three, a highly spiritual and intimate ceremony.

The book of Blood was then formed, the proper guidelines of the process and prophecy well mentioned.

The three of them once merged attained the ability to reproduce, thus continuing both the species. The kids when old enough to carry forward the duties went in search of their mates and once found performed the ceremony taking place of their parents, who would no longer be immortals rather weak to the methods of death specific to their own species.

"That doesn't mean that he can't try, trust me the process hurts too. You will get the feeling when you become one too," Christian answered, rubbing the sore spot on his neck.

Christian had turned into an immortal once Daniel passed taking away his ability to reproduce while Nicholas would stay a regular royal prince until the mating ceremony is over.

"The Masquerade is in four days and I want to take Immery there and not Riley. I mean she would be there for the faking bit of it but I want it to be her, wanna help ?" Nicholas asked shifting the topic, he wanted to take her to the palace. It was dangerous but he wanted her to see where she belonged.

"I can help with that," they heard a voice when Christian was about to answer.
