15. Warmth And Cold.
"We are getting married," Riley announced, standing a yard away from Immery and Nicholas. The passersby stopping to hear but quickly walking away as they noticed those green stones shining in under the sun rays.
Immery's eyes widened as she heard her, Nicholas turning his face away from Immery to her, cursing her under his breath.
"Really Riley? Why did you have to ruin this?" Nicholas asked, his voice tired. He wanted to explain the situation to Immery before revealing about his plan.
"What? I just said what you would in like another two hours cause you can't just stop beating around the bush!" Riley answers back, her hands on her hip as the two of them stared at her.
"You can say me a Thank You," Riley told with a wide grin before stomping away from them even before Nicholas could catch hold of her.
"You are marrying..her ?" Immery questioned, mostly to herself. She did not know how marriage or anything worked for a vampire. The thought that a wife and a mate might be different things in their life struck her, but it sank her heart a little.
"No. Of course not Immery. Riley is just crazy. It's a fake marriage...I mean not even a marriage just a cover-up for...us," Nicholas spoke, hastily and panicked. He was not the one to panic around girls, rather known to be able to easily charm his way through them but this girl was different. She was a human and he had never interacted with one about anything remotely emotional or romantic. The vampire emotions were different from a human. They had a more heightened emotional spectrum. Hurt really hurts and love really makes you feel alive. In all ways.
"So there was no other way? No other plan better than this ?" Immery asked, her voice low as she tried to understand the situation.
"I know this isn't the cleverest plan but this the only thing that can keep you safe from the Lord till you can be turned. I don't know what he can do but Chris and even Riley says that he isn't safe for you," Nicholas spoke, his mind hazed with all the happenings. Being the prince he had never really seen a villainous side of his father except when he had thrown Christian out and would not let Nicholas go to him, play with him or meet him. Nicholas knew that unlike when he was young he can fight for people that he cares but to go against a Vampire Lord even with royal blood in himself was the worst.
"Okayy.."
"Immery I know this is too much to take. You deserve to not be okay with this arrangement, but talk to me about it? Don't hold back things to yourself when your face clearly reads that you have a lot of questions," Nicholas spoke, relaxing back onto the side of the bench, swirling his tongue around his fangs and gums to ignore the uncomfortable itch that he was getting.
"Did...you guys like you and Riley have a..uh.," Immery started speaking, her words fumbling before she stopped her face flustered to ask it.
"Have a history together? Yes. She was my best friend since I was very young. I fell for her, she did not. It was a long time back," Nicholas spoke, the memories of them together playing his mind like a flashback. Them running through the lawn of the palace, holding each other's hand to spending the nights in each other's arms.
"Anyone hungry here ?" Nicholas and Immery turned their faces away tearing out of their respective thoughts towards Christian who was standing with his hand caressing his stomach.
"You locked up her and went away ?" Nicholas spoke, his voice pissed while Christian shrugged.
"What did you want me to do? Leave the door open so that she could come out and get herself killed by some lurking shifter ?" Christian questioned back, glaring at Nicholas. He knew locking her up wasn't right, she wasn't a prisoner but he cared more about her safety. In no way was a human safe in the world of werewolves where even a little smell of fresh human flesh could drive them crazy.
"Do you think locking her up in that room was any better ?" Nicholas asked, his voice calm while a deep grumble aroused from Christian's chest, his eyes turning red frightening Immery.
"And what were you doing about it? Faking a relationship in front of the piece of shit ?" Christian's voice rose, the air around vibrating under his Alpha voice it having a compelling power.
"Hey hey you both can fight later. Let's get some food into him first or he might kill me of hunger," Immery spoke immediately coming between the brothers, while they both stared at her and then each other a smile appearing on their lips.
"At least someone is smart here," Christian spoke as his eyes went back to normal before he took Immery's hand and started dragging her along with himself. Nicholas did not budge as he saw them walking off, Immery glancing back at him.
"Follow on Nick, I have got blood bags with me," Christian spoke, pulling out one of them and waving it to Nicholas who glanced at it, his jaws hardening before he stormed away towards it to snatch it from Christian.
"Hey that was your drink for lunch," Christian complained making a sad face as he watched Nicholas snatching the packet of blood from him and instantly gulping it down.
"You just randomly carry...bags of blood with you ?" Immery questioned as she looked at Nicholas gulping the remains of the smooth red liquid down, his skin gaining up a little colour.
"Well yeah..you know these blood suckers are like little puppies, just like puppies come running for treats they do the same for blood," Christian answered with a little smirk while looking at his brother emptying that packet and running his tongue over his fangs before a satisfied sigh left his mouth.
"So the blood lust is quite on isn't it ?" Christian questioned as they kept walking, out from the pack house area down towards the city.
"Mmhh yeah...it only gets worst from now on until the blood moon," Nicholas answered, his mind going off to the glass of human blood in the palace. He closed his eyes for a moment to shake him off the temptation, he knew it wouldn't end right. It never did.
Immery peered her face out looking at the brother's in a questioning way making Christian signal Nicholas to explain the situation to her.
"The blood moon is near Immery. The blood moon is something that happens twice a year, something that brings out the feral sides of us, vampires. The blood lust, cravings mixed with our extremely heightened emotions and strengths makes us lose control over ourselves ultimately forcing us to crave human blood till we give in," Nicholas spoke in one breath. The instances from all the previous blood moons playing in his mind, the guilt trapping him in again.
"Should I be scared ?" Immery asked innocently, any word remotely
"Well no, since the last few years I and Chris have figured out how to control it," Nicholas spoke as he gave out a nervous laugh about it while Christian looked him dead in the eye.
"Now's not the time to tell her," Nicholas quickly mind linked him to which Christian nodded.
"So we are here, where do you think we should hit up ?" Christian asked as they stood, Christian and Nicholas's hoodies pulled up to hide their faces.
"Immery can choose, I am fine with any place as long as I can get the rest of those blood packets," Nicholas answered while Christian nodded and put out three options to Immery who looked confused watching the various places all around her. The city looking even more busy and beautiful in the daylight than at night.
"That cat cafeee !" Immery squealed once she noticed a small little cafe, a
"A cat cafe? Why would you want to go there ?" Christian snickered at Immery's odd choice out of the three choices that they gave her - "A good blood cafe, a hot strip club or a stupid cat cafe"
"What? Cat's are cute," Immery remarked making a face at the two men beside her. She had always loved cats, she would often sneak off to feed little scraps off her already scarce food to some stray cats back in her house.
"Well their blood does taste good," Nicholas answered, swirling his tongue around his fang while Immery's eyes widened in disgust as a response.
"I agree, they do taste good," Christian remarked with a smirk knowing how it was all pissing off Immery.
"You guys are disgusting. I am going home!" Immery remarked as she turned back only to have Nicholas catch her by her wrist and turn her towards him.
"We were just pulling your leg Immery, we can surely go to that cafe if you want," Nicholas spoke, looking into her eyes while Christian's hand snaked around Immery's waist at the same time, making Immery,'s breath hitch feeling both of their breath fanning over her, the mixture of the chilly cold touch on her and wrist and the warmth around her waist.
Nicholas left her wrist to let his hand slide around the other side of her waist, both the brothers holding her there, together making Immery blush, as they lead her into the cafe together, little kittens sitting on the window pawing each other.
