10. The Hybrid
"Eliza, their mother was a hybrid and you are also a hybrid, Immery," Riley said that aloud, earning a loud gasp from Immery. She was just gradually accepting the news that she was a mate to a Vampire Prince and an Alpha Werewolf when Riley told her that she is a hybrid.
A hybrid? How was that possible, Immery thought as she wrapped her hands around her body. She knew that she was a human, she never felt anything unnatural about herself.
She did not even know what a hybrid meant. How they looked. Or anything. But it felt nerve cracking to her.
"Go easy on her Riley," Christian told Riley, looking towards Immery with concerned eyes, he did not clearly understand the human brain but he did know and could feel that it was affecting her.
"Do you really think she has it in her ?" Nicholas asked Riley, who nodded at him. She did feel that forbidden energy in Immery, sitting and hiding deep inside her, bubbling to wake up.
"I don't want to scare you away or something Immery. You have time, we all have time but it is the truth. You are destined and chosen to become the next Vaewolf," Riley addressed Immery who listened to her, their face serious due to the gravity of the situation. Nicholas ran a hand through his hair trying to examine the situation.
"Vaewolf ?" Immery asked, curiosity getting the best of her. She hardly understood what werewolves are and now she was hearing about another supernatural entity that was apparently going to be her.
"Vaewolf's are hybrids that are part vampire's and part werewolves. They are very strong, well much much more than any of us," Riley told Immery while the brothers also listened carefully.
"But the good news for you three is that nothing at all will happen if the mate bond doesn't develop," Riley told with a little excitement in her voice as she looked over to Nicholas, she wanted him to mirror her expression. To not want to mate Immery and rather choose her over Immery.
But to her disappointment both the brothers intensely looked at Immery at this, while she went back and forth looking at them. Riley knew that her worst fears were becoming true, they did start stitch that forbidden bond amongst themselves which would open the door to another dimension.
Immery felt the heat rising to her cheeks as she felt both Christian and Nicholas staring at her.
"You three have time till Immery's eighteenth birthday. Only on that day, the mating can happen," Riley spoke quickly with a cough to gain back their attention before hurriedly getting up.
"And when is that ?" Nicholas turned towards Immery as he asked the question. Immery stared back at Nicholas for a while, confused and trying to remember the date.
"17th September..." she whispered out. Her birthdays weren't really a special day for her, it wouldn't bring her gifts or cakes rather whippings and canning if the other house members remembered, beating into her how unfortunate her birth was.
"So we have around three months to figure things out ?" Nicholas questioned while Riley nodded, the fact that he was trying to figure things out was definitely hurting her.
"That's a lonnggg time to figure out a lot of things," Christian said as he stood up, it was getting dark as the sun had already set. All their talks, introductions took longer than they had intended.
"So I guess we should go now ?" Riley asked directing the question towards Nicholas who nodded.
"Take care of her Chris," Nicholas mind linked her as he too stood up along with Immery.
Christian nodded at him before Riley went and gave Immery a little hug, which first took her by surprise but she reciprocated it back much to the brother's satisfaction. Riley was the only friend that the brothers had since childhood. Nicholas and Christian's were twins, but with a gap of around an hour. In vampire years Nicholas and Christian have an age gap of a year.
Both Riley and Nicholas started walking to return back to the palace when Nicholas stopped. He did not know why but he did not want to leave Immery and go. He knew taking her would risk her life while staying away from her was making him weirdly sad. He still knew mostly nothing about her, yet he felt like being pulled towards her.
"Well, that's what the mate bond does to you," Riley commented as she saw how Nicholas was continuously turning back and fighting the urge to go back to Immery.
"Maybe it is."

"The day went way too hectic than I thought it would be," Christian said while Immery nodded. She was still looking in the direction in which Nicholas went, feeling a little sad that he did not speak to her before leaving.
"Missing him already ?" Christian question in a mischievous tone while raising an eyebrow to which Immery bobbed her head sideways.
"Hungry ?" Christian asked Immery as he looked down at his watch. It was definitely late but they could still do some kinds of stuff before going back to the pack house.
"Very.." Immery answered holding her stomach. While all the new pieces of information were emotionally draining, her stomach would love some good food. She was not necessarily as hungry as Christian for she was habituated to not eat for long intervals.
"Good. Let's go to the city then," Christian replied with a smile while Immery looked at him confused.
"What? Did I grow two horns ?"
"No, but aren't you like the Alpha? Isn't that similar to like a King or something ?" Immery asked, unsure of the title.
"Well, I am very much the Alpha and your interpretation is almost correct. I am like a King, but I wouldn't prefer that title. In werewolves we have power differences, the Alpha ranks the highest in that hierarchy but don't believe that all Alpha's are smart, some are dumb as fuck," Christian explained as he started leading her out of the forest area.
"So you mix with the normal citizens ?" Immery asked while Christian nodded.
"I do, but yes for safety purposes, I have all exclusive entries and protection. And for the appearance, this helps," Christian spoke as he pulled on the hoodie above this head, and taking out the mask from his pocket to wear it.
"It does," Immery replied. They continued walking out of the forest following the pathway in silence.
"It will take around thirty minutes if we keep walking at human speed. And I am freaking hungry. Let me carry you ?" Christian said holding his stomach as he rested against the bark of a tree, he was feeling the inch in his canines now, and if he wouldn't get meat fast he would tear that off some living source.
"Uh...Yes ?" Immery replied, not really knowing what he was meaning by that.
Christian nodded and went close to Immery, placing a hand around her back and below her hip before carrying her up in his arms.
In place of using his enhanced speed, he immediately dropped her down on the ground making her give out a loud squeal as she fell on her bum.
"Ow..what happ-"
"Shh," Christian cut her. The itch in his gums was now intensified, his canines growing inside his mouth, which he was failing to hide from Immery who looked at him, the change causing a fear to build inside her.
"I can't hold it back Christian. You need to feed now. The hold. The pain. End it," Alec spoke at the back of his mind, trying to take control of Christian. But Christian was fighting it. Fighting the transformation. He did not want Immery to see him in his wolf form. Not now. Not like this.
"Hey hey, are you fine.." Immery got up from the ground seeing Christian struggle, his face sleek with sweat, as his entire body trembled.
"Stay away," Christian barked out at Immery who was trying to get near Christian. He knew he had to hunt, he needed the meat to gain back his sanity but doing that in front of Immery who already looked scared worried him.
"But why..you are hurting Christian," Immery said out loud, taking his name for the first time as it calmed Christian down for a moment as he heavily breathed out.
"I am...you need to get out of here Immery. Run..away. Away from me, fast," Christian replied, shuttering as the pain was intensifying. The only smell filling his entire self was that of Immery's fresh meaty smell. He could feel those veins and arteries throbbing inside her, making him want to taste it.
"But-"
"Run..Immery," Christian commanded. His voice deathly grave. He was losing the fight to his feral side.
Immery looked into his eyes, before nodding and started running. She did not know the way out but trusted him to not really harm her.
Christian tried to calm himself down, forgetting that Werewolves loved a good chase, hunting was their favorite. Before Christian could try to smell some other animals in the forest, he felt himself running, being dragged towards the direction Immery ran, before he grabbed her and threw her on the ground. His canines bared at her.
"You smell fresh, little girl. Let me get a taste of you," Christian said with a smirk, his voice ghostly grave. He bared his canines at her, before leaning himself down as Immery gave out a loud scream.
