Chapter 35 You Won't Win This Time.

Naida
“No, no no, and no! It's a very big no from me. How can you leave our mate for him?" My word asked, battling with me. Despite the fact that he had broken off from the kiss, and given me a little intel on what we needed to do, I still couldn't get the kiss off my mind.

"What do you mean no? He's good looking, and he cares so much. Did you see the way he kissed me? Luciver isn't to be trusted. He might be our mate, or maybe we were meant to be, but then you can't make it seem like we are bound forever.”

I exhaled, walking back to the pack house. “You didn't see his eyes. The emotions he used when talking to me, and the way he stared at me. There was just something about him that I didn't understand.

“Really? You think so?" I asked, and there was already a lot on my plate. I didn't really think there was a need to explain all that was already going on.

“Maybe you're worrying too much, or maybe it's just you being unhappy. He used to be our crush, remember? He helped us back then."

She growled. “Back then, but not now. He's not to be trusted. Don't you see the maniac look in his eyes? That gaze. I can't miss it. There's definitely something about it that I couldn't miss out. I just want you to look.”

I rolled my eyes over her silly allegations. She was saying all this because he was being too possessive of me.

"Maybe you should focus first, try to get to know Luciver. He seems like a good person, and seems like someone who's calm as well.”

"Really?” I tried to question her. It seemed she hadn't really understood me.

I exhaled, but she reminded me of something else. "Have you forgotten about the lady you saw him with? Did you bother asking him anything? Did you tell him all about your little encounter at the door?"

I shrugged my shoulders. “Probably just his friend. I don't think he has someone here. He's in love with me, and maybe I should accept this love. It's better than trusting Luciver don't know what his plans are, and not to tell me I didn't confirm. I tried all my best to do all I could, but it was failing me."

No words were said, and I got confused. I wished there was a way to make things easier than usual, but it seemed so stuck already.

“Do you know how else to be able to get rid of all these? You need time to rest. I understand that there's a lot involved, and–”

I shook my head. “There's no time. Luciver is the one who came into the picture with ill intentions. The only thing I can do right now is make sure that things are in order. I will have to do what he has asked me to do."

I didn't bother about it. I tried my best to smile as much as I could but I was dying inside.

By the time I got to the pack house, I noticed it was overly quiet. I tried my best to sneak in, but Luciver caught me immediately I got into the hallway.

" I've been waiting for you. Where the hell did you go?” he asked with raised brows, and I was tense. I tried to feel free, but my nerves shrunk on their own. It felt like my bone was being shattered into so many little pieces I couldn't even figure out on my own.

“You have to be able to make sense of all these, I'm sure. I know you can….”

He raised a brow. " Are you talking back to me, or are you explaining?”

This was time to unleash what I had been hiding inside for a long time, maybe it's time to use his word against him.

“Last time I checked. I'm not a prisoner here, so why do you think I would want to do something like that, hmm?"

I didn't say a thing all I knew was that there was a lot involved. He was always getting mad, I was sure, but the way he calmed was something I didn't understand.

“You're not a prisoner, but I'm worried about your safety. You have to stay indoors.”

" Safety? More like you're guarding your sacrifice, and you don't want me to leave in peace. Well, I am not going to let you do that!” I yelled, and luckily it was all on my head. I dared not be so eager to discuss the issue.

“I feel you should pay more attention to details, and make it more intense. I know you have a lot in your head, but if he doesn't care about you, he wouldn't want to know about your whereabouts.”

My work was immediately blocked. Yes, that was it. I wasn't going to let anything like that happen. I was showing to make sure everything fell in place.

"Well I don't need anyone protecting or taking care of me. I believe I am old enough to make decisions on my own, don't you think?”

He sighed, nodding. "Yes you are but you're still mine, and I don't want anything to happen to you, not even a scratch. It would cost me a lot.”

I rolled my eyes, feeling disgust. The way he pretended to care despite being nonchalant. All this was part of his plan to reel me in, and the more I thought about it, the more confused I was.

“Please you don't have to be like this. I know you care, but then don't. I don't need someone watching after me. I'm not a kid.”

There was nothing else to be said, so I walked out. Closing my eyes for a split second as I thanked the moongoddess. She had given me the courage to handle the situation which was really funny.

“You won't win this time. Luciver. I won't allow it.’
