Chapter 125: Western master
Chapter 125: Western master
Cara pov
I froze. The weight of her words pressed down on me like a heavy stone. “The Master?” I echoed, my voice trembling slightly. “Who…" Who is he?”
Julia stepped back, her eyes darkening as she began to pace. “He’s the Alpha who rules the western part of Ellorin,” she explained. “A powerful being, descended from Fenrir himself, the one who fought the Special Child centuries ago.”
My breath caught in my throat. Fenrir. The name alone sent chills down my spine. I had heard the legends, the stories of the great battle that had shaped the history of werewolves and Cupbearers alike. Fenrir, king of the werewolves and the special child, had fought a mysterious battle that till today nobody knows who won.
“He’s not just an Alpha, Cara,” Julia continued. “He’s something far more dangerous. The bloodline of Fenrir carries with it immense power, power that has been passed down through the generations. And this Master… he’s the culmination of that power. He’s cunning, ruthless, and unrelenting. For years, he has sought to bring the Cupbearers under his control. And now, that the news of the pureblood has spread, he’s after you.”
“Me?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Julia nodded, her expression grim. “He wants you as his bride, Cara. To him, you’re more than just a Cupbearer, you’re the key to solidifying his rule. With you by his side, he believes he can command not just the werewolves but the Cupbearers as well. He sees you as a prize, a weapon to be wielded.”
Her words sent a shiver down my spine. All my confusion was getting cleared. That spiky warrior, he had talked about taking me to be his master's bride. At that point, I didn't know what he was talking about, but now, everything made perfect sense now. And with it came the real truth behind everything.
No wonder, the council was divided. The spiky warrior has a strong backing.
That means, The people that attacked the mafian wolf pack. Rage filled my body. Alpha Black had been working with the western district people. Just to get fame and money.
Brian had been strong and relentless throughout the war. If not that he was injured, just coming back from coma, he would have defeated the four alphas that had attacked his pack. But he had sacrificed himself for his pack.
As his Luna, it's left for me to make sure his sacrifice is not in vain. Thinking about this increased my determination. “I don’t care what he wants,” I said, my voice firm. “Brian needs me. I won’t let this Master or anyone else stop me from protecting him.”
Julia’s eyes flared with anger. “You’re not thinking clearly!” she snapped. “You’re letting your emotions cloud your judgment. Do you even realize what you’re up against? This isn’t some petty rogue you can outwit or overpower. This is a being who could destroy you with a single command.”
“I don’t care!” I shot back, my voice rising. “Brian is my mate, Julia. I love him. And if he’s in danger, then I have to do something. I can’t just sit here and do nothing!”
Julia sighed, her grip tightening on my arms. “Even if it was, you need to focus on the present. You can’t let distractions like this cloud your training. You are the backbone of the cupbearers.”
“I can’t stay,” I said, stepping away from her. My heart was racing, and the pain in my chest still lingered, though it had dulled. “If Brian’s in danger or… if something’s wrong, I need to go.”
“Cara,” Julia said, her voice sharp with warning. “You can’t leave now. You’re not ready. Whatever you think you heard, it doesn’t change the fact that you’re vulnerable. If you go back out there, you’re putting yourself at risk and everyone else who tries to protect you.”
“I have a pack rosalin, the mafian wolf pack. They didn’t die out. Brian sacrificed himself to save everyone. They require a Luna.” I turned to her, my resolve hardening. “I can’t ignore this, Rosalin. it was Brian, who housed you and gave you power in Ellorin. if he’s in trouble… I can’t just stay here and do nothing and so should you.”
Her eyes narrowed, and for a moment, I thought she might physically stop me. But then she sighed, her shoulders slumping slightly. “You’re stubborn, just like the rest of your bloodline,” she muttered. “Fine. If you’re set on this, I won’t stop you. But don’t expect me to agree with it.”
I stared at her, her meaning sinking inside my head. “I will need all the help I will need. Those that betrayed us, we need to pay them back ten folds”.
Julia’s expression softened, and for a moment, I thought she might let me go without further argument. But then she spoke again, her voice low and filled with pain.
“You remind me of her,” she said quietly.
“Who?” I asked, taken aback by the sudden shift in her tone.
“The Special Child’s mate,” Julia said, her gaze distant as though she was looking into the past. The story goes that, “She loved him fiercely, just as you love Brian. She did everything she could, for him, after there was no trace of him. just as you’re willing to do. She ran after the deserted cupbearers helping them settle down, therefore forming the community of cupbearers there is.
Her words gave me pause, but only for a moment. “I’m not her,” I said firmly. “And Brian is not the Special Child. I won’t let history repeat itself.”
Julia shook her head, a sad smile tugging at her lips. “You are in the right direction Cara, the zeal to help is still burning in your heart, unlike us old foxes that are selfish.”
I stepped forward, my resolve unwavering. Even in her speech. “What are you saying in essence?”.
Rosalin sighed sadly, she seemed to have grown older in just a few minutes, “we the entire cupbearers will not associate with your campaign to bring down the master”.
Her words sounded cold and distant. Like the verdict of the devil.
“You’ve trained me for this, Julia,” I said. “You’ve prepared me to face whatever that is coming. And now it’s time for me to use what I’ve learned. This is the time to come out and fight for our survival. You said the special child stood alone, that was why he failed. But I won't stand alone.”
Julia sighed, her shoulders slumping in defeat. “You’re as stubborn as they come,” she muttered. “but I am speaking from my experience. We the cupbearers have seen our share of bloodshed, I won't sacrifice this peac for war again. But know this, Cara, if you face the Master, it won’t just be your life at stake. It’ll be the fate of everyone who stands with you.”
“I understand,” I said, fighting the feeling of disappointment that pooled in my stomach.
Julia stepped closer, placing a hand on my shoulder. “Promise me one thing,” she said, her voice soft.
“What?”
“Promise me you’ll be careful,” she said. “And if you find yourself not being able to do anything, promise me you’ll run.”
“I promise,” I said, even as my mind screamed the truth: I would face whatever came my way, no matter the cost.
Julia’s gaze lingered on me for a moment longer before she stepped back. “Then go,” she said. “And may the spirits guide you.”
I didn’t hesitate. I turned and walked away, my heart heavy with the weight of what lay ahead.
“You’re making a mistake, Cara. She said, her tone cold. “ And if you die out there, know that thousands of lifes will be damned just because of your foolishness.”
Her words stung, but I didn’t let them sway me.
I gritted my teeth. My mind was made up. I turned away from her, the pain in my chest now a distant echo as I prepared to leave the community.
