75:Athena’s downfall?
Draped in a blue velvet mermaid gown with a white fur shawl around the neck, Athena walked down the hallway, Melekwe walking a few feet behind her. Her head was held high. Today was a special day. A day she never dreamt of and, most of all, the happiest day for Alaris.

Her heart thumped in her chest, and she kept exhaling. Her mind flashed back to the night she escaped. She had believed nothing was out here for her until she ran into the dragon. A feral beast mourning the loss of his beloved. She thought she was going to die. Vengeance was the only thing on her mind, and then he became smitten with her. Not wanting to let her go. The elders showed up and married her to him in the most gruesome way and then discarded her when he regained his sanity. He called her FELYNDRA, and to this day, she never asked him why he called her that. Although rumours said she looked like her except for the colour of hair and eyes, there were no photos of FELYNDRA to satisfy her curiosity.

Like a miracle, she moved from being an ugly cursed omega to becoming a queen. Not just an ordinary queen but a dragon queen, the first of her kind.

What else could she have asked for? She wields more power than anyone could think of. The thought of Anna burning lightened her heartbeat, and her lips parted in a brief smile. She doesn’t forgive, and that is little of the things she planned to do to the witch who buried her alive. As for Ladya, her life is already miserable, and once she wears the queen's crown, she will kick her out of the palace, along with the other concubines who were almost invincible.

“My lady, I forgot one of the bangles. I will quickly get them for you.” Melekwe’s words drew her out of her thoughts, and when I turned around, she was already leaping in the direction they came from.

She sighed and touched her hair, which was neatly pinned upward in a braided bun with diamond accessories adorning it.

“This is heavy,” she mumbled and removed her hand. Who knows, her intrusive thoughts might win, and she may end up pulling out all of the pins while she waits.

“What is a noble woman doing all alone in the hallway?” A familiar voice cut through the air, pulling at something in her chest. She gulped and tilted her head. Did she hear wrong? The owner of the voice was not supposed to be there. There was no way he could be there.

She turned around slowly, and her eyes landed on those eyes. Those eyes that tortured her all night as he forced and pushed himself into her. The eyes that looked at her and saw her not worthy of becoming a Luna. The motherfucker, her arch enemy, KADEN LAWSON.

Although his scent is concealed and he could pass as a human, his wig was horrible. The waiter's uniform looked ugly on him, and no matter how much he tried to hide his identity, he did a poor job hiding his real voice. How could she forget his scornful voice?

She saw his lips part and close. He was as shocked as she was, or perhaps he was more shocked because he wouldn’t close that ugly wide mouth of his.

“Athena?” Her name slipped out of his mouth, laced by shock and surprise.

“It’s truly you!” He exclaimed and stepped forward. He inhaled her sweet smell. It was indeed her. When he saw her, he thought she was just a guest at the coronation, but her peculiar scent drew him, and the fragment of the bond that was shattered long ago pulled him to her.

“Who are you?” She asked, her voice firm, holding his gaze, and she saw his lips parted again.

His brows furrowed at how domineering, confident and beautiful she looked. Most of all, she had this strange, powerful presence looming over her; it was as if someone was watching her or perhaps both of them.

“It’s me …” He paused, as if realising something, and shook his head. He wanted to mention his but stopped himself. He was there for a reason. He couldn’t afford to destroy his plans now.

“You smell like a wolf,” Athena said, sniffing the air while her heart raced in her chest in panic. If Kaden is here, then it must be for a reason. He wouldn’t take the risk of sneaking into the dragon’s place in the guise of a human. Whatever his reason might be, it made her stomach twist.

“You stink of wolf. “Aren’t you a werewolf?” He asked, and her breath hitched in her throat. Has he come to ruin her coronation? What is his plan?

Meanwhile, on the other part of the corridor, Ladya, who was passing by, saw the two figures talking. One look at the woman, and she knew who it was: her rival.

She squinted one of her eyes as she tried to figure out who the man was. He couldn’t be an ordinary waiter. Something felt off about him and their conversation; it felt suspicious.

“Aren’t you the runaway mate of Alpha Kaden? The one they called the 'ugly cursed omega'?

Ladya placed her palms over her mouth and hid behind a pillar, face clouded with shock.

“Athena Singingbird?” The waiter added, and Ladya’s palms uncovered her mouth.

“Kaden, I know it’s you, and trust me, you won’t walk out of here. I am no longer the Athena Singingbird you know. I am something bigger than that. It’s a shame to see an alpha reduce himself to a waiter at his ex’s coronation ceremony.” Athena said with no remorse, leaving both Kaden and Ladya stunned.

Ladya peeked from behind the pillar and saw Athena walking away towards the throne hall, while the waiter, whose name is Kaden, stood there, not taking his eyes off her back.

“All my sleepless nights and sneaking were not in vain. I knew she had always smelt funny,” Ladya muttered in satisfaction.

“What will happen if the elders find out the woman they are about to crown is a wolf?” Her eyes lit up as the words left her mouth. She could already imagine what would happen.

“Athena Singingbird, your downfall is here.” She grinned from ear to ear like the maniac that she was.
