Chapter 93 ~Tonight, an Alpha dies~
(Fiona's POV)
I felt a sharp, biting pain where the dagger pressed down on my belly. I closed my eyes to brace myself for my death.
“Goodbye, bitch.” Cassia hissed through her teeth.
A single tear slid down my face.
The first thing I heard was the door being flung ajar.
Then, I felt a sudden gust of wind and before I could process what was happening, Cassia tumbled several feet away from me and landed on the ground with a loud thud.
I snapped my eyes open, and I saw that it wasn't wind but a large gray wolf that had knocked Cassia across the room, knocking her unconscious in one blow.
The grey wolf towered above me.
“Who are you?” I asked, frightened. I had never seen this wolf before.
I watched in anticipation as it transformed into Silvia, Xander's mom.
My jaw slackened in shock.
“Way to acknowledge your savior.” She muttered dryly.
“I'm sorry, I was just in shock. Thank you.”
She was the last person I was expecting to see here. And I wouldn't have expected her to save me when I was so sure she hated me.
“Save your thanks. No one even knows if we're coming out of this alive.” Silvia's eyes darted around looking for something.
I tried to ignore pain clawing through my body as I sat up on the ground.
She seemed to have seen what she was looking for. She picked up a thick rope lying on the ground and used it to tie up Cassia, who was still unconscious, in the corner.
The silence in the room was growing awkward, and I needed something to distract myself from the screams outside.
“So, how did you know about this… The attack? ” I asked Silvia.
She was still fastening the ropes. “Loki is my son, of course, I know of all his foolish plans.”
“Why did you save me?” This was the question really boggling my mind.
This time, Silvia ignored my question. She dragged Cassia's unconscious body to one of the lockers and locked it.
Her eyes flickered over to where I was briefly. “So, you're pregnant?”
I nodded.
Her eyes trailed down the trickle of blood that had now dried on my legs and stained my dress a deeper shade of red.
Silently, she found a napkin and cleaned me up. “You should get that checked later. And be strong, what's going on outside this room… is pure chaos.”
I heard a sudden shrill sound.
“What's that?” Silvia asked.
It took me some time to realise it was my ringtone.
I retrieved my phone from my purse. I thought I'd lost it.
I unlocked it to see several messages from the mover and missed calls from my dad.
When I looked up at Silvia, I could see her staring at me awkwardly.
“I need to see Xander.” I said to her, “He's in danger.”
“You were just bleeding. I suggest you hide here and rest. And pray that no warrior wolves finds you here.”
“I insist.”
An unreadable look crossed Silvia's features. “You really do love him, don't you?”
I looked down at my phone screen, and then back at Silvia.
What was I even thinking?
I smashed the phone against the ground, and it shattered into pieces.
“Yes. Yes, I love him.” I took one look at Cassia's dagger, forgotten in the corner. It was glinting brightly. A thought crossed my mind. “Is… Is that Silver?”
Silvia raised the weapon and winced in pain. “Yes, it is. Then why didn't it burn you?”
I shrugged. Because I was wolfless.

(Xander's POV)
They surrounded me from all corners. Loki, Beckett, the warrior werewolves. I felt like a caged animal.
Thankfully, some warriors from Silvereign were already here and were fighting the Ashridge warriors. Although, it was almost pointless because Ashridge warriors had almost wiped out the entire population of NorthVale High Seniors.
A wave of hatred went through me.
The chains were getting tighter, suffocating me.
Calvin couldn't help as he was also surrounded and trying to fend off six Ashridge warrior wolves.
I guess I had to do this alone.
‘Theon’
My wolf stirred. ‘Let's end this.’
That was the only thing I had to say.
I braced myself as Theon growled loudly, my muscles powered up and with my last might, I strained against the chains, till they broke under pressure.
They all looked surprised.
I managed to drag the sharp knife out of my chest. I was in so much pain, but I braced myself for a fight.
‘Oh little brother,’ Loki taunted. ‘How brave. You never cease to surprise me.
I wasn't falling for his antics. Not anymore.
“You cunt!” I hissed through my teeth. “If what you want is a fight, you'll get it from me.”
Beckett cackled through the mindlink.
The warrior wolves were advancing towards me in attack.
Beckett stopped them. “Step back.”
Then to me, he said. “Let's do this once and for all, and let the best Alpha win. Although, like I said, tonight, you die.”
My voice was cold when I said, “Only one person is coming out alive from this fight. It won't be you.”
This seemed to rile Beckett because he advanced to me in a gallop and bared his fangs as he attacked.
I ducked at the last minute, but made sure to slash through his fur with my sharp claws.
Three marks appeared on his back, welting with blood.
This seemed to get him furious as he charged at me and attempted to knock me down.
I ducked again and he crashed to the ground with a heavy impact. He groaned in pain.
“My turn,” I smirked.
I advanced towards him and gave him a heavy blow with my paws. I sank my fangs deep into his neck.
I could hear him panting from exhaustion as he tried to wriggle free from my attack.
Finally, he squirmed out from under me. Unexpectedly, I felt his claws slash across my face, narrowly missing my eyes, sending me reeling backwards. Blood stained my vision.
I braced my fall, regaining momentum, and then we charged at each other.
Soon we were locked in each other's hold, our muscles rippling as we tried to overpower each other. It felt like a tug of war that felt like it would last forever.
Just when it seemed I was gaining the upper hand, unexpectedly, Loki joined in the fight.
Now it was two against one.
I fought with all my strength as the two charged at me in a double attack, their claws ready, their fangs bared.
I tried not to be deterred but before long, I was growing exhausted and drenched with blood. But so were they.
I took Loki down with a final blow. He lay unconscious on the ground. I was left only with Beckett.
Just when I was about to take out Beckett, he shifted to his human form and did the unexpected. He took a sword from one of the warriors and charged at me with it.
It happened in a flash. I had no time to duck.
“Xander!” I could hear Fiona scream.
Then a soft whosh passed my ear.
I froze for a moment.
Like a dart hitting a dartboard, a dagger landed, burying itself in Beckett’s chest.
He screamed as it burned through his flesh.
That was when I realised it was Silver.
The spot turned a deathly black, spreading till it covered him up. He screamed shrilly, that was the last sound before he crumpled on the ground, a black heap.
Dead.
The warriors from Ashridge who saw their Alpha lying dead all froze.
Loki who had just regained consciousness stared at the heap, not moving, not talking.
Silence fell over the room.
Fiona, who'd thrown the fatal blow, stood still. Her face looked numb, scared and at the same time relieved.
Without wasting time, I charged at Loki, but I was blocked by my mother.
She stood between us, shielding him.
My eyes burned in fury.
“Run!” She screamed at Loki. Still standing between us. “Loki, run! RUN!”
Loki bared his teeth, and with one last hiss, he ran away.
The remaining Ashridge warriors, sensing defeat, followed suit.
Now, with the attackers gone, a cold, deathly silence fell over the school gym.
The few students left alive were tending to their deep wounds, whimpering in pain, while the majority lay on the ground, unmoving, lifeless.
I looked for Fiona and saw her beside the corpse of Beckett.
She was crouched down, staring at it in disbelief, with her face ashen and numb.
