Chapter 28 ~10 things I like about you~
(Xander's POV)
It's been two days since the cab drove off with Fiona, and since then she hasn't spoken with me. Matter of fact, I haven't seen her around the house; it was almost like she was completely avoiding me.
I called Yara to my quarters this evening.
“Alpha Xander,” Yara walked in, looking alarmed. “Is there a problem?”
“Why do you ask?”
She laughed a little. “Because you rarely ever call me to your room.”
Wow. I had expected Fiona to tell her everything, but apparently, she hadn’t.
“Sit.”
Yara sat down.
“Dakota is back.”
Yara knew Dakota. I'm pretty sure, like everyone, she too probably liked her.
“Oh, that's nice. It's been a long time since I saw her last.”
“Yes, but we had dinner with her, Myself and Fiona and for some reason, I think Fiona is angry with me or just hates Dakota.”
Yara looked puzzled. “That's odd. Should I ask her?”
“No,” I don't think that's a good idea. “I'm just confused, like… did I do something wrong? She didn't even stay for that long..I mean Dakota.”
Yara nodded. “But why did Fiona agree to the dinner if she didn't like Dakota?”
“Well, it wasn't like she ‘agreed’ per se. We just met her at the restaurant, and I invited her over to join us.”
“Wait… you both were on a date, and Dakota walked in and you asked her to join in?” Yara laughed. “Oh, I see now.”
“See what?” I was puzzled.
“Listen, women are wired differently. You might have seen it as a harmless date with your childhood friend, but to Fiona,” she waved her hands, trying to collect her speech. “Okay. Let's just say Fiona probably wanted that alone time with you.”
I nodded, even though I still didn't understand.
“Plus, you and Dakota give off black cat and golden retriever vibes. I'm sure you were all lovey dovey without knowing it.”
Damn. “What do I do now?”
Yara tapped her chin for a while. “I think I have an idea.”
I watched Fiona walk out as I stood by the mustang in the driveway.
I sucked in a breath at how beautiful she was looking.
She wore a tight fitting black gown that clung to her curves. She must have curled her hair or something, because it looked very luscious. She smelt divine.
Even Theon was going crazy. “Wow.”
She glanced at me, unsmiling. “Lucky I'm not in my pyjamas.”
I don't know how Yara was able to convince her to follow me, but I had a plan to make it up to her.
“You'd have looked just as good in your pyjamas.” I said, opening the door for her.
She shrugged, clearly unimpressed. “Well, let's get going. I need to be back in time. School's tomorrow.”
We drove for an hour before I pulled up at the venue. Casa Miá luxury resort.
I had booked the whole resort just for us. I hope this will impress her.
The gates of the resort unfolded, everywhere empty, everywhere beautiful.
The scent of a thousand exotic flowers hit our noses first. The swimming pool was huge, the glasshouse was massive and beautiful; it looked out of this world.
When I pulled up and turned off the ignition, Fiona's mouth fell open at the space.
I came out to help her out of the car; she closed her mouth as soon as our eyes met.
“Come on,” I coerced.
She scrunched her nose. “I hope your ‘childhood best friend’ is not in one room in this resort.”
I shook my head.
“Really?” She shrugged and smirked. “Maybe Nova is here too. You know she coulda been here to heal from her parents' divorce.”
“Of course not!” I laughed, throwing my head back.
“It's just us.”
“Just us.”
The server arrived rolling the trolley of flowers. It was a ‘small’ flower bouquet.
Fiona nearly fell down when she saw the bouquet. “Xander, what is this?"
The server answered. “It's a thousand exotic flowers, handpicked from our flower garden to make this beautiful and massive bouquet.”
“Xander! What am I supposed to do with this?”
“Come on in.” I dragged her hands into the resort.
After looking around for some time, the pool, the beautiful rooms with a view and other places, I started my apology.
“Well, we have all day to ourselves, and tonight we'll be in the pool, with an exclusive food platter, alone.”
She said nothing.
“I apologize for everything. I'm not even going to make any excuses or say anything more stupid. I just want you to have fun today.”
She smiled. Great! Smile is good.
“Let's go.”
“To where?” she asked.
“You'll see.” I dragged her to the grand ballroom.
‘Light me up’ by Ingrid Michaelson was playing in the background.
She gasped at the ambience of the hall, then gasped as if just realising. “My song!”
Yes, I noticed her playlist from my car stereo.
We danced for a bit and she was finally her free and happy self again. It's time.
This time, ‘Lift me from the ground’ by San holo was playing. We danced in slow circles, and she placed her head on my chest. “I have something to tell you.”
“What's that?” She looked up at me.
“Ten things I like about you.” I hope this works.
“What?” she asked, laughing.
“Just listen,” I started. “Number one, your smile lights up the room.”
She laughed.
“Two, your hair smells of strawberries.” I kissed her hair for emphasis. “Three, I love that look when you're so focused. It makes you so hot.”
“Oh, yeah.”
“Number four, your lips are so soft and kissable. Five, you're so smart.” I smiled at her. “Six, you're the kindest person ever. Seven, you're loyal.”
Her eyes were warming up now.
“Eight, I love it when you defend yourself. It feels like you're some badass lawyer. Nine, I love it when you're jealous.”
She laughed at this, but I could tell that she wanted to cry. Her eyes lit up.
“Ten, everything about you, Fiona Hepburn, is just perfect.”
“ Oh, Xander.”
She pulled me in and we kissed in a feverish, passion filled kiss.
She pulled away, breathless. “Where's that pool, again?”
I looked at her, my eyes darkening. She winked.
Suffice it to say, I had my first ‘sex on the beach’.
