Chapter 12 ~Luna troubles~

Chapter 12 ~Luna troubles~
Xander's POV

I stared at Vivienne, and she fidgeted under my unflinching gaze.

“Who the fuck do you actually think you are?” I spat out angrily.

She moved back fearfully. “I'm not the one who told her, Alpha.”

She must think I was born seven fucking minutes ago.

“Oh yeah… told her what then?” I stared at her as she paled. “No, tell me. Because I sure as hell didn't mention telling anybody anything.”

She lowers her gaze. “I'm sorry, Alpha Xander.”

“Just get out.” I sigh as she walks off. The only reason I'm letting this slide is because she's Loki's mate.

I stood by Fiona's door until I no longer heard her sniffles. I left when she finally fell asleep.

Somehow, I too was able to fall into an uneasy sleep myself. Maybe it was the guilt, but I knew Fiona was too good to be hurt the way I hurt her. I promised myself to make it up to her, somehow.

I was still in the shower when Calvin mindlinked me with the most depressing news.

Alpha Xander, your mom is in the villa waiting for you.

What the fuck did she want this early morning?

Did she tell you why she's here? I ask.

After some seconds, Calvin's reply came. Well, she said she wants to see the Luna, Fiona

I'll be done shortly

I canceled school today because of yesterday’s stress, and now a new stress in the form of my mother had been delivered to my doorstep.Just great.

I walk down the stairs to meet my mother in the living room. I can already smell the alcohol on her breath from here. The only thing I have to thank this woman for is my looks.

“Alexander!” she exclaimed, giving me a light hug.

“Hey mum.” I awkwardly chuckle.

“Or should I call you Alpha Xander?” She regards me. “My! When did you grow this big?”

Yeah, you would’ve noticed if you hadn’t actually abandoned me in childhood.

“To what do we owe this visit?”

"A little birdie told me you got a ‘Luna'." She said, sarcastically making air quotes.

"By ‘little birdie’, you mean Loki?"

She brushed my questions aside. “I want to see her.”

“She's resting. She had quite a day yesterday from the ceremony.” There was no way I was bringing Fiona to meet her.

“It's not a request, son.” By now, my mother had put her false smiles away. “You know, when I became Luna, immediately after my ceremony, I assumed all my responsibilities. I just hope you haven't brought a weakling as Luna.”

“And yet, you left.” My father walked in from the doors assisted by his cane, tagging alongside him was Loki. “Silvia, you and I both know you were a shitty Luna, so don't start with that.”

I sigh. Of course, the two ‘lovebirds’.

“Oh shut up Edgar, If I made a shitty Luna, you made an even worse Alpha, heck your 21-year-old son makes a better Alpha than you did all your life.” My mother bit back.

I was already regretting not going to school rather than witnessing this.

Whatever catastrophic comeback my father was planning to haul at her got interrupted when Fiona walked in.

I gasped at how enthralling she looked in a floral gown, her red hair was left down, flowing beautifully.

My mom regarded Fiona from her toes to her head and scoffed. She gave me a look that said, ‘This is the best you could do?’

“She doesn't look strong enough to bear healthy pups.” She whispered so that only I heard it.

“My darling, you must be Fiona.” She moved closer to her and hugged her.

Fiona smiled sweetly. “Yes, I am. I'm sorry I don't recal…”

“No, that's fine. You haven't met me. I'm Silvia. I'm Xander's mother.”

“Oh.” Fiona glanced at me. “I didn't know.”

“Have you started training? You know, being Luna is no small feat.” My mother began. Fiona looked at her. “And let it not be true what I hear… that you're from Ashridge pack! Nothing good ever comes from the Ashridge pack.”

Fiona’s cheeks colored red in embarrassment.

“Why don't you tell her you were a rogue before I picked you up from the gutters!” My father grunted, walking out with his stick. “Bunch of m…”

Well, what can I say? The old man beat me to it.

It was my mother's turn to be embarrassed now. I smirked at the look on her face. UNO reverse card!

My mother muttered something and walked off afterwards.

Loki, who was sitting down enjoying every bit of the squabble, burst out laughing. He stood up from the sofa and stretched himself.

Fiona was looking straight at me like, ‘Is this the way they all are?’

“Tension!” Loki huffs and turns to Fiona. “Our beautiful Luna. I hope you’re having a great time. Once again, welcome to the Silvereign pack.”

He laughed and walked off, leaving just me and Fiona.

Scratch that. She walked off, too. I almost forgot she was mad at me.

I was at Calvin's house. We were going through some things as regards the pack.

“So,” Calvin said, glancing at me. “You know you still haven't explained the whole Nova to Fiona thing.”

I almost grunted in exasperation. But he was right. He was my Beta, after all, so he deserved to know.

“The day I went to Nova's house to give her the contract, I actually met her fucking some guy from the school's basketball team.” I shrugged. Calvin didn't attend Northvale High, in fact, he was almost done with college.

Calvin's mouth fell open in surprise.

He got himself quickly, though. “Really, man? So what… you're just using Fiona as revenge?”

I sighed. If only. “I actually wanted to, but I think I'm kinda falling for her, plus… Theon says she's my mate, so…”

Calvin nodded in understanding.

“But I think I might have fucked up.”

“Wh- why?” Calvin sat up.

“Somehow, Vivienne told her, the gods know what, and now she's mad at me because she thinks I'm using her.”

“Listen, there's no relationship without ups and downs. None, ever. I'm sure she'll come around, though.”

“Yeah…” I smirk. “But you are Yara, though. You make the perfect couple.”

“Well…” Calvin shrugs. Then his face turns serious, like he just remembered something. “You know, earlier today, I received an insight that the Nightfang pack is planning an attack on us.”

I sat up quickly, my alpha mode kicking in. “Reason being?”

“I'm not sure, but I think it has something to do with the bond. Maybe they are threatened because they feel our pack is getting stronger.”

Calvin was right, I expected it. Our rival packs would go crazy at the thought of us finding a Luna.

The only thing we could do now was prepare and wait.
