Chapter 10 ~Meeting the Silvereign pack~
(Fiona's POV)
Xander's dad’s question hung in the air. I was no genius, but I don't think he liked me.
“That doesn't matter, dad.” Xander spoke. The two men glared at each other and, for a moment, I thought they were going to claw at each other's throats.
The man walked out with a walking cane. “Meet me in my office.” He commanded before leaving the room to no one in particular.
Beta Calvin and Yara walked out after him. Xander squeezed my palms and we mindlinked.
I'm coming now. Try to settle in.
Sure thing. You said I wouldn't like them; they don't seem so bad.
'Except your dad'. But I didn't say that, of course out loud.
If you say so
He walked away, leaving me with the other members of the pack.
The way their faces switched from smiles to scowls immediately after Xander left had me shook. They all looked mean, and here I was in the middle, like a sacrificial lamb.
One man walked up to me. He had long jet black hair and a dark, intense aura, and a crooked smile on his face. “I'm Loki, your brother-in-law. Apologies on Xander's behalf. He seemed to have forgotten to introduce us all. Matter-of-fact, he seems to forget a lot these days.”
Snickers went around the room, and I stood, confused, in the middle.
“I'll do the honors. These are our uncles, Cyrus and Julius, council elders. You've met Calvin and Yara. And my father Edgar Grayson who made me gamma- of all things.” He chuckled bitterly.
A lanky looking female with bright red lipstick walked up to him and pecked him on his cheeks. I looked away.
“And this is Vivienne, my lover.”
She had a mean-girl aura around her.
I greeted them all and introduced myself. “I'm Luna Fiona.”
Vivienne chuckled and muttered, ‘yeah right’
One of the Uncles, Cyrus, who was sitting on the sofa, spoke. “Welcome our new Luna. You haven't told us your legacy.”
I shifted uncomfortably. I decided it was best to just be open and honest. “I don't know my real father, but I was told he's powerful. I turned last year and my stepdad took me to Ashridge pack, that was where I trained.”
The room went quiet. Vivienne snorted a laugh. Loki looked like he was about to as well.
The two elders exchanged meaningful looks. “This one won't be a problem then.” Cyrus said to Julius.
They all walked out, leaving me alone in the sitting room. Loki turned to me. “Once again, welcome to Silvereign pack. You'll surely have a hell of a time, Luna.”
Before they left, I caught Vivienne's statement. “Nova is better Luna material.”
What the hell had I gotten myself into?
We spent the rest of the day preparing for the bonding ceremony tomorrow. Apparently, in the Silvereign pack, a big ceremony was held when the Alpha chooses his mate.
That wasn't how it was done in Ashridge, but what could I say? It's probably because Silvereign had more of a reputation.
I wore myself out settling into the pack. I intentionally did so to distract myself from the unpleasant meeting earlier today with the pack members.
It reminded me of my time at Ashridge. It took me back to the mockery, sneers, and jests. I just hoped it would be better here. Even if it wasn't, I'd stay till I got what I needed to cure my mom.
Xander knocked on my door. Yeah, I had a big ass room to myself.
“Come in.” I knew it was him because I had already gotten used to his scent.
“Hey.” He walked in and sat on my bed. I hadn't seen him since he went to his dad's office; I guess they had been busy.
He looked exhausted, so I killed the urge to ask him what he and his dad had discussed.
I decided to give him a massage. He looked a lot better as I massaged his shoulders.
“Well, I hope you're ready for our bonding ceremony tomorrow.” Xander said, as he turned to look at me. “It's kind of a big deal to the pack.”
“I'm slightly nervous, but I'm cool with it.” I stared at him. His eyes looked so beautiful from up close. I told him so.
His gaze softened. “You're one to talk. Do you know just how beautiful you are?” His thumb brushed the corners of my mouth, trembling ever so slightly as he did.
I took a deep breath at the intimate gesture.
“You're going to ruin me.”
“Then let me.” I don't know what came over me, but I leaned in and kissed his lips passionately.
He kissed me back, drawing me closer by my flimsy nightwear. His eyes looked alive under the chandelier lights.
“Do you want to do this?” He asked, his voice a little above a whisper.
I put my hands under his shirt, my palms flattened on his abs. My eyes communicated what my mouth couldn't. “I want you. Now. All of you.”
His eyes shone with feral desire. It was not like what I had with Beckett. With Xander, every touch, every look, every sound was a promise that this was the beginning of something out of the ordinary.
My moans were getting intense as his hands slid down my body like he was memorizing my curves, his tongue traced maps of places only we knew.
I savored every bit of him as he ground against the ache between my thighs in deliberate thrusts. The only thing between us was heat and desire.
