Chapter 61 - The End
Natasha's POV
5 years later. . .
"Don't be scared. There's nothing to be scared of riding an airplane. You wouldn't even know we're up in the sky."
"But, that's scary, Daddy!"
I frowned as I glared at Valerian.
I remember him telling me those exact words 5 years ago and me getting even more scared of the plane ride.
"Come here, baby. Mommy will hold you so you will not be scared anymore," I said as I grabbed my daughter from her father.
My daughter pursed her lips. "But, I'm really scared, Mommy."
"I know, I know, baby. But I'm here, Daddy is here too, we will protect you," I reassured her as I hugged her small body, fragile body.
"Darling, I think we should not force her, I can drive us to the place," Valerian chimed in.
I shook my head. "The car drive will take over 10 hours, she will have a hard time."
But, we should not force her, love," Valerian reasoned out.
"We are not forcing her, we're teaching her to be brave." I turned to my daughter. "Right, baby? You want to be brave, right?"
My daughter immediately nodded her head enthusiastically. "Yes, mommy! I want to be brave just like you! Daddy said you are so brave, Mommy. I want to be just like you!"
I can't help but smile at what my daughter just said. I turned to her father and smiled at him. "You and everything you tell to our daughter."
"What? I'm only telling her the truth." Valerian shrugged his shoulders, acting so innocent.
"Mommy," my daughter called. I immediately turned to her.
"What is it, baby?" I asked.
"I think I'm not scared anymore, mommy."
My smile grew wider. "Really, baby? That's my girl."
"Daddy said, I'm brave just like you, so I'm not scared anymore."
I smiled genuinely at Valerian as I held his hand.
I remember this exact scene 5 years ago.
Me being scared of plane rides and Valerian gave me assurance but still ended up driving a car ride for hours because I was not able to face my fears.
I promised myself to teach my daughter how to face her fears so that other people would not take advantage of her, use her, or fool her.
As long as I live, I will make sure that no one will harm her or take her away from us. I will do whatever it takes.
"You are one brave bean, Elyna." Valerian smiled at our daughter and caressed her cheeks.
It was already 5 years ago.
Valerian and I now have a really cute and beautiful toddler named Sayna Elyse Fenrir.
She is so beautiful just like her aunts.
"It's funny how our daughter got all your charm and look and all she got from me is my fear of plane ride." I chuckled.
"oh, darling." Valerian chuckled too. "Elyna got your beauty, love. You two are so beautiful."
"Daddy! Daddy!" Ely suddenly exclaimed wanting to be carried by her father.
Valerian quickly carried Ely and sat her on his lap. "Are you excited, baby?"
Ely nodded enthusiastically. "I am, Daddy!"
"Good morning, Mr. and Mrs. Fenrir, good morning, baby Elyna. This is your captain speaking. Welcome aboard this flight. It is currently 6 in the morning. Our flight time today will be 4 hours and 30 minutes and our estimated time of arrival in Athens, Greece is 10:30 AM, local time. We are currently taxiing to the runway and will be taking off shortly. Thank you."
"Yay! We're going to Greece!" Ely exclaimed loudly and enthusiastically.
I laughed but almost got teary-eyed because I remember the time 5 years ago when I was also so excited to go to Greece with her father.
I remember it all too well.
"I love you," Valerian whispered to me as soon as he finished settling down Ely to her seat.
"I love you, too," I replied wholeheartedly.
Five years ago my whole life turned upside down. I've lost people who are dear to me-- Valerian and I both lost someone who was so dear to us. The pain was indescribable, it was so hard to deal with. The pain was so great that we felt like we would never ever be able to move on and to be honest speaking, I felt like I still haven't moved on from their deaths, I just learned a way to deal with grief.
Some days I feel like I'm completely already fine and some days the pain still hits full force. But, it's okay. Grief is something that you should not put an expiration date on. Grief is hard to deal with, it does not go away, ever. You just grow around it.
I face every day with hope.
5 years ago my life turned upside down, for all the years that I lived my life, turns out, I didn't even know myself. I felt like the pain could kill me at that time, but I found a new reason to continue living. Sayna Elyse came into our life to give us new purpose, she made me strong, and she made me want to continue living when I felt like I was giving up.
After that dark and hard night of war between vampires and werewolves that Acanthus waged, everything changed.
I discovered that I was truly a vampire but the black magic that they did to me to turn me into a werewolf was irreversible. I was not a werewolf, I was a vampire--no, I was a hybrid. And now, Valerian and I have a daughter who is both werewolf and vampire-- a hybrid, and she is strong, so hella strong.
Despite everything that happened, I continued to be strong, I now have a brand new life with brand new people surrounding me.
Valerian and I managed to have a truce between vampires and werewolves. It was easy, war was not what they wanted, and werewolves were only driven by anger because they did not know what else to do because their mind was poisoned by Acanthus.
We have made peace between the vampires and werewolves and we are now living peacefully with each other.
After the truce was made, they built the Fenrir town again and werewolves moved there.
I was beyond happy.
Valerian and I were beyond happy knowing the fact that after hundreds of years, we were able to make werewolves and vampires be one with each other.
I was now my pack's alpha and other werewolves looked up to me for bringing peace into our kind. They were longing for peace between their moral foe for hundreds of years and now we have made it.
Five years later, I can say that all the pain was worth it. Everything was worth it.
"See, it's not so bad after all, you are being so brave, baby." I smiled at my daughter, Ely after the plane took off and we were already up in the sky.
"I am, mommy. Brave just like you!" Ely smiled at me so widely.
"That's right, mi vida. Brave just like mommy." Valerian kissed Ely's on her forehead.
I smiled upon hearing Valerian's pet name for Ely. He calls her mi vida which translates to my life.
Ely is our life. She gave us a new purpose. She gave us life.
Ely suddenly pouted, getting sad.
I quickly creased my forehead, getting worried. "What happened, baby? Something hurt, Ely? What's wrong?"
"Nothing hurts, mommy," she answered in her sad little voice. "I'm just thinking about Aunt Elyse and Aunt Sayna. I wish they were here with us to go to Greece."
My heart sank at what my daughter said.
I looked at Valerian.
Our eyes met.
A hint of sadness was visible in his eyes.
My other friend, Draven killed my best friend for the wrong reasons and Acanthus killed Elyse and it felt like we died with them too.
Valerian and I made sure to keep their spirits by telling things about them to our daughter. She deserves to know her aunts. They deserve to be known by our daughter.
"How I wish too, baby. But I'm sure your aunts are happy wherever they are," I said to Ely trying to contain my tears by putting on a smile.
"They are, mi vida. They are looking over you and are happy. They surely love you so much," Valerian added as she held Ely's tiny hand to give her comfort.
"I love them too! And I love you Daddy, and I love you Mommy!" she exclaimed all happily, gone was the sadness on her face earlier.
"We love you too," Valerian and I said in unison.
Valerian looked at me straight into my eyes. "I love you," he whispered.
"I love you, too, Valerian Fenrir. You devil," I replied with a huge smile on my face.
The End.
