Chapter 54 - Last Day in Fairytale

Natasha's POV

I took a deep breath as I stared at the ceiling.

Valerian is lying down beside me and he is quiet.

We have both been quiet since we got back to our villa from the restaurant.

He managed to calm me down and stopped me from crying earlier at the restaurant by promising me a lot of things like he would fix everything for me and I believe him. I genuinely believed that he would do that.

I started to trust Valerian unknowingly and I'm glad that I do.

We had a quiet and peaceful dinner and when we got to our villa, no one said anything.

I was quiet so was Valerian.

A lot of thoughts running through my head and Valerian seemed like he was thinking deeply about something too.

"How are you feeling?" he suddenly asked beside me.

"Good," I answered. My voice came out hoarse because of all the crying that I had done earlier.

Embarrassment started to form in me upon realizing what I had done earlier.

I refused to believe that I broke down in front of him and it was even in public but then again, I'm thankful that I did because if I did not, I will forever have these unsaid words and fear in my heart.

I'm somehow reassured knowing that Valerian knew about what I feel and my worries-- even though I haven't clearly told him what I truly feel for him. One step at a time.

"You should get some rest, darling."

I just nodded and did not say anything anymore.

I closed my eyes and tried to sleep.

My heart feels heavy and light at the same time.

All I know right now is that I am hoping that Valerian will be truly real in his words and that he will not disappoint me because I trust him.

I put my trust in him.

It was already bright outside when I woke up.

I looked at the wall clock and saw that it was already 10:30 in the morning.

"Good morning, love." I heard Valerian speak beside me.

I turned to face him. He was reading a book.

"You haven't gotten up yet?" I asked.

He shook his head. "I was waiting for you to wake up."

I bit my lower lip.

"You must have been so bored," I spoke in a low voice.

"Staring at your beauty will never ever bore me."

I could not help but smile at Valerian's voice so I quickly moved towards him and buried my face at his neck.

He immediately caressed my hair.

"Can we go to the beach today?" I requested.

I woke up feeling light today and I want to enjoy the day.

Whatever happened last night, stays at last night.

"Of course, darling."

I grinned.

"But, I have bad news."

My smile immediately faded away upon hearing about what Valerian said.

"We have to go home, darling."

I bit my lower lip.

I can't deny that I really don't want to go home especially right now but of course, I just can't decide for myself. I have to follow what Valerian wanted to do.

"I have some things to fix back at home. They need me there."

"Okay," I said.

I can feel the heaviness that is starting to form in my chest but like I said I just can't decide for myself. I have to obey.

"Don't worry, we will do everything that you want to do today. And I promise you that we will go on a vacation again."

"Promise?"

My throat was drying up and I had to cough.

Oh gosh, why am I suddenly getting so emotional easily?

What the heck, this is not me.

"I promise. You can choose the country that you want us to go to next time," he reassured.

I smiled at the comfort of his words.

"When are we leaving?" I asked.

"Tonight," he replied. "We need to leave tonight since we are driving back home."

"Can I have one last favor?" I requested.

"Anything."

"I want to ride your private jet," I told Valerian.

"Are you sure?"

"Mhm."

Since this will be our last day here, I want to finally experience riding Valerian's private jet at least once in a lifetime because as much as I love to hear that we will be going on a vacation next time, I'm not a hundred percent certain that there will be next time.

I want to experience everything right now.

"Alright, then. I will inform our pilot, darling."

I nodded.

"Then, let's make the most out of this day," I said as I sat up on the bed. "I want to spend the whole day at the beach."

"You got it, love."

~*~

Valerian and I quickly got ready for the beach.

I wore a white two-piece swimsuit and covered it with a light yellow green crochet beach cover-up.

The weather is perfect for us especially for Valerian because it's not too sunny and too bright outside. I know Valerian can tolerate the sunlight and it does not affect him anymore but I also don't want him to be uncomfortable because I was the one who requested to be out on the beach.

As we rested on the beach chair, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a bunch of girls in front of us lying on their own beach chairs without any fabric on the top part of their bodies. They are literally half-naked.

I looked at Valerian at my side and I could not tell if he was looking at them because he was wearing dark sunglasses.

He suddenly turned to me sideways.

He must have noticed that I was staring at him.

"What is it?" he asked.

I didn't answer him, instead, I stood up from the beach chair and took off my swimsuit cover-up.

But when I was about to take off my top too, Valerian quickly stood up from his seat too and stopped.

"Whoa, whoa, what do you think you are doing, Natasha?" Valerian looked at me sternly. His voice is full of authority.

"What? Every woman here does not wear any bra," I retorted.

"And so? That does not you have to get naked too," he firmly said. "Men will surely gawk at you and I don't want that. Trust me, you don't want to do something that I don't want."

I rolled my eyes at him.

"Why do you want to get naked huh, darling?"

I did not answer because I, myself don't know the reason why.

What was I even thinking?

It's just that when I saw a bunch of girls half naked and thought of the possibility that Valerian may be staring at them snapped something inside me. And the fact that they are turning their heads to stare at Valerian who is half naked lying on the beach chair pissed me off.

"Is that what you want to do, Natasha?" he asked again.

"Men don't even care about who is showing their boobs here," I reasoned.

"Oh, trust me, they will be looking at you and again, I don't want that," Valerian said, his voice and tone hard.

"Why? How do you know that? Because you are looking at other girls too?"

Valerian's forehead creased as he stared at me but he suddenly broke into a fit of laughter.

"What are you laughing at?" I asked, annoyance visible in my tone.

"I'm not looking at anyone else here but you, Natasha." Valerian reached for my hand and held it. He looked at me with much amusement in his eyes. "And I know that men will be staring at you if you take off your top because you are a goddess, darling. They will stare and I personally don't want anyone staring at what is mine."

I pursed my lips.

"Oh, you are annoying!" I playfully hit Valerian's chest but he caught my hands as he laughed.

"Let's get in the water to cool you down before you do anything that will make me kill someone here."

I rolled my eyes. "Devil."

Valerian held my hand as he dragged me to the water.

We dipped into the water and I almost shivered because of how cold it was.

"Oh gosh," I sharply gasped.

I quickly swam toward Valerian and clung my arms around his neck.

He hugged me and I immediately felt comforted by the warmth of his body.

"I would not believe it if you told me a vampire and werewolf are swimming here right now," I joked.

"I could not even believe a lot of things about me doing human things sometimes." Valerian chuckled. "But something that is even harder for me to believe is that you are jealous. I didn't get the vibes that you will be the jealous type, baby."

My mouth gaped with surprise because of what he just said. "What? I'm not jealous, Valerian!"

"Are you sure, darling?" He teased. "I saw you wanting to claw the eyes out of the girls staring at me earlier."

"Oh, you devil!" I exclaimed as I moved away from him.

I splashed the water towards Valerian's direction and my eyes widened when he did the same.

"Oh, you did not!" I yelled as I forcefully splashed the water in his direction again.

Valerian did the same once again and I could tell that I couldn't win against him because of how much water he could throw in my direction but I did not stop.

Valerian and I splashed water on each other again and again until I felt like I was almost dying from so much laughter and running away from him.

We played and played in the water all day that we didn't notice the sun was already setting.

It was already late in the afternoon and almost evening.

Heaviness started to form in my chest as I clung my arms to his neck.

We're still in the water, staring at the sun that is slowly getting down behind the ocean.

"I don't think I'm ready to leave yet," I truthfully told him.

"I don't think I am too, darling." Valerian sighed. "But we need to go home. I need to go home because my people need me."

I heaved a deep sigh in hopes for the heaviness in my heart to go away. "I understand."

"Don't be sad, we will go on a vacation again, okay?" Valerian said as he caressed my face and planted a kiss on my forehead. "I promise you that so you have nothing to be sad and worry about."

"And besides, you don't miss our home? Don't you miss our city? How about Elyse?" he added.

"Well, you're right. I already miss Elyse and everything that you have mentioned but it's just that. . ." I trailed off.

"What is it, Natasha? Tell me."

"What if. . ." I stared straight into Valerian's eyes. "What if things will change between us once we get home? What if whatever this is that we have in here is all just the place talking?"

"Oh, darling." He cupped my face. "Nothing will change, I assure you that. Everything will remain the same once we leave Greece and once we get home. You have nothing to worry about."

"Really?" I sucked on my lower lip.

"I promise you that. I told you that my treatment of you will never be inconsistent again. I stand by my words so please do not worry, baby."

The corners of my lips rose and formed into a genuine smile.

Every single word that's coming out of Valerian's mouth gives me much comfort and is enough to take my worries away.

"Alright then, let's go home," I said, smiling.

Valerian and I fixed all of our things the moment we got back to our villa from the beach.

We both slid into comfortable clothes and packed everything into our suitcases again, getting ready to leave.

As we tidied up everything, Valerian's phone rang.

He picked up. "Hello? Yes, okay. Thank you."

He turned to me after ending the call.

"The jet is here," he said.

I nodded as I got myself ready to face my fear of the plane and my fear of going home again.
