Chapter 44 - Welcome to Greece
Natasha's POV
Days went by so fast that the next thing I knew, I was already packing for my and Valerian's trip to Greece.
Actually, I don't know what to expect since it's Valerian's business trip, if you think about it, it's not really a vacation but I'm keeping my hopes up that I will still get to explore because Valerian told me that we are going to Santorini. I saw how beautiful Santorini is in the magazines and I can't deny that I've dreamed of going there-- and now, I can't believe it's going to happen. All because of the devil, Valerian Fenrir.
"Ooh, you should pack this pretty dress. It will be perfect for brunch in Santorini." Elyse handed me a white beautiful sundress. She's right, I feel like I'll be so beautiful walking around a pretty restaurant in the city.
Elyse volunteered to help me pack the moment she learned that I was going with Valerian for a business trip.
She was more than excited for me and Valerian.
She's so so so excited that I asked her to come with us because it will be fun exploring Greece with her but she refused. She said it's finally the time and chance for me and Valerian; I didn't know what she meant by that until now.
"Ooh, and this too." Elyse handed me a long black sexy elegant dress.
She bought this one for me but I never got the chance the place to wear it to.
I creased my forehead because the dress looked like it was meant to be worn for a party. It's similar to the one I wore to the masquerade ball when I first met Valerian. Gosh, that was a disaster, I don't even want to think about it.
"This? For what?" I asked.
Elyse rolled her eyes dramatically. "Duh! You're going to Greece-- you're going to Santorini, Nat! You never know, okay? It's better to be prepared."
The crease on my forehead grew wider because I really didn't know what Elyse was talking about.
She broke into a fit of laughter. "Oh my gosh! Are you that innocent?!"
I pursed my lips. "I have no idea what you're talking about," I shamelessly admitted.
"I know you and my brother are going to get married but who knows, maybe he will propose to you again if he sees you in this pretty this," she explained. "OMG! She might marry you right there at the place at the moment. I'm so excited!"
I bit my lips. "You think?"
Oh gosh, I can't believe I'm actually believing what Elyse is saying to me right now.

My packing took the entire day because I wasn't just packing but talking and sharing stories with Elyse too.
She's so talkative that I get talkative too; she can do that to anyone she's with. It's like his superpower.
"Bye-bye." Elyse waved at me as she entered her car.
I waved back at her, smiling. "You take care."
"Drive safe," Valerian, who is beside me, said.
He just got home and that was the cue Elyse needed to leave because it indicates that we just spent the entire day in my room picking out clothes.
"Hungry?" Valerian asked as he glanced at me sideways.
"You know I don't get hungry," I remarked.
"You ready for our flight tomorrow?" Valerian asked we went back inside the house.
I can't help but smile at his question. "I am. Elyse helped me out today."
"Good."
"How about you? Did you pack already?" I questioned because I didn't see him get anything ready for the trip.
Valerian nodded. "My secretary got everything I need ready."
I pursed my lips.
So, that means this is just really a business trip.
Why did he ask me to come with him? It's not like I know anything about his business or company.
"You okay?" Valerian suddenly asked.
I didn't realize that I already looked like sulking. I can't even control my facial expression these days.
"Yeah. . ." I answered.
Valerian didn't say anything anymore.
I hate it.
Oh gosh.
“Why did you ask me to come with you?” I questioned, not being able to stop myself from doing so.
Valerian stopped and faced me. “You don’t want to come with me. . .?”
“I do-- I mean, it’s nice to go to another country.” I heaved a sigh. “But it’s a business trip. What am I going to do there? Be your secretary?”
“Be my wife.”
“Wha--” I was completely taken aback by what Valerian just said.
It was quick.
Too quick.
If you’re going to calculate it, it’s like his answer was already formed inside his mind for so long and he was just waiting for the right moment to say it.
I couldn’t say anything.
I couldn’t think of anything.
“We will explore the country as much as you like,” Valerian said when a few moments had passed and I still didn’t say anything.
I heaved a deep sigh and composed myself.
“What did you mean?” I questioned.
“About what?” he asked back.
“What you just said,” I told him, in a serious tone.
Valerian just stared at me for what felt like an eternity without saying a single word and without answering my question.
"Yeah, no, don't answer-- never mind that," I said.
I don't know if Valerian has any plan to answer what I asked him but there's also something inside me that doesn't want to know what exactly he meant by what he said.
My mind is clouded with what ifs.
What if he really meant that? What do I do? What will happen now? What will happen to my mission?
And what if he didn't mean that and was just messing with me? What do I do? Why do I feel something heavy in my chest if I think about it?
"You should get some rest. We have an early flight to catch tomorrow," Valerian said.
I nodded at him before I turned my back on him and went upstairs.
The moment I closed the door of my room, I heaved a deep sigh.
This is getting complicated.
I know that time when I tried to end Valerian's life I wasn't a match for him despite of all my training because he was way too powerful but I can't seem to comprehend now why I agreed to this pretending set-up. Was there any other way at that time?
Gosh, this is not the time to blame myself. I shouldn't.
I had no choice at that time and I had to do what I had to do. For my father.
"Oh, Natasha. What did you get yourself into?" I whispered to myself as I lay down in my bed.
My mind started wandering to the possible things that would happen in Greece.
It's my first out of the country and I will be with someone I never thought of doing one of my first times with.
Would it to awkward?
Oh gosh, I hope not.
Shit, why am I overthinking things so much?
Why would it be awkward?
Unimaginable things already happened between me and Valerian.
Suddenly, flashbacks of me and Valerian doing the 'thing' started flashing inside my mind.
"Oh goodness!" I exclaimed frustratedly as I slumped my hand to my forehead in frustration and in the hopes of getting those images out of my mind.
I feel like a sinner.
Valerian makes me feel like a sinner.
I blew a breath.
I will enjoy this little getaway.
Things will fall right into their places.
~*~
I woke up in the dawn of night.
I rubbed my eyes to clear my vision as I stared at the ceiling.
This is the day.
Oh gosh.
I am going to Greece!
I quickly stood up and ran to the bathroom.
In only a matter of minutes, I managed to clean myself and put on new clean, and comfortable clothes.
I only did light makeup up just like what Elyse taught me and I'm ready to go.
That was the fastest getting ready I have ever done in my whole life.
I'm shamefully so excited.
I wonder if Valerian is already ready too.
Without wasting any more time, I quickly went out of my room and half-ran to Valerian's room.
I knocked three times and stood there outside his door, waiting impatiently.
A few seconds passed and I knocked again.
Is he asleep?
The door opened revealing Valerian with his forehead creased.
"Are you okay? What happened?" he asked repeatedly.
I also creased my forehead in confusion because of his reaction.
"Huh?" was all I managed to say.
"You were knocking repeatedly like there was an emergency, Natasha."
"Oh. . ." I took a step back, wanting to just disappear because of embarrassment.
He must think I am so excited to go with him. . . well, I am.
I cleared my throat. "Well, you said that our flight is early in the morning."
"Well, not this early in the morning, Natasha."
"Oh. . ."
Valerian looked at me with amusement slipping through the corners of his mouth.
Oh gosh.
"Give me a minute," he said as he pulled his phone out of his pocket and dialed someone.
"Good morning," Valerian greeted. "Kindly prepare the jet. Yes, now-- right away. Thank you."
He ended the call and then looked at me again.
"I'll just get ready." Valerian turned his back on me and went back into his room again.
Prepare the jet? Like a private jet?
Oh gosh.
I shouldn't be this surprised to find out that Valerian owns a whole private jet.
Goodness. I just can't believe it.
It's still also hard to believe that in a few hours, Greece will be welcoming me.
