Chapter 116 Building Memories
Chapter 116 Building Memories
Rune POV.
I wake disoriented. Morning light streams through windows. Logan is already awake. Sitting beside the bed. Watching me.
"How much?" I ask. Voice hoarse.
He knows what I'm asking.
"Almost everything before age twelve. You remember facts—that you had parents, that you were Omega, that you lived somewhere. But specifics are gone."
I try to remember my mother's face.
Nothing. Just blank space where her features should be.
Her voice?
Gone.
The cottage?
Blank.
My first shift?
Nothing.
My chest constricts. Can't breathe. Sobs tear from my throat. Deep. Wrenching. Shake my entire body.
Logan immediately pulls me close. Holds tight.
"I'm here. I've got you."
"Who am I without my past?" I sob against his chest.
"You're Rune. My mate. The Luna. The Oracle. The woman who sacrificed her own memories to save an innocent. That doesn't change."
"But I don't remember my mother. Can't remember her face, her voice, anything. She's just... gone."
Logan's arms tighten around me. "I know. I'm so fucking sorry."
He holds me through the grief. Not trying to fix it. Just being present. His hand strokes through my hair. His other arm tight around my waist.
The mate bond is warm. Steady. Grounding.
Eventually the violent sobbing eases to quiet tears. Logan continues holding me.
"I need you." I whisper finally. Pull back to look at him.
Logan's expression shifts. "Rune—"
"I need to feel something other than loss. Need to feel alive. Real. Here. Please."
His ice-blue eyes search mine. "Are you sure?"
"I'm sure." Already reaching for him. "I need you. Now."
Logan kisses me. His mouth claims mine desperately. Tongue pushes past my lips. One hand fists in my hair.
I respond with equal hunger. Bite his lower lip. Pull him closer.
He tears at my nightgown. Rips it down the middle. Fabric shreds. I pull at his clothes. Need him touching me. Confirming I'm real. I exist. I'm here.
"You're here." Logan growls against my mouth. Hands everywhere. "You're real. You're mine."
His mouth moves to my neck. Bites hard enough to leave marks. I gasp. Arch into him.
"Yes. Yours. Prove it."
Logan's eyes flash dark. He strips quickly. Then covers my body with his.
"This moment." He says. Voice rough. "Right now. Remember this."
He enters me in one hard thrust. I cry out at the stretch. The fullness.
"Look at me." Logan commands. Starts to move. "Watch my face. Remember what I look like when I'm inside you."
I force my eyes open. Meet his. Ice blue burning. Jaw clenched. Expression intense.
"Your hair spread on the pillow." He narrates. Hips snap against mine. "Silver catching the light. Your eyes locked on mine—so fucking beautiful."
He changes angle. Hits deeper. I moan.
"How you gasp when I touch you here." He demonstrates. "How you tighten around me when I do this—"
Another shift. I'm seeing stars.
"How you say my name." Logan growls. Moving faster now. Harder.
"Logan." I gasp.
"Again."
"Logan—"
"Louder."
"Logan!" I cry out as he hits that perfect spot inside me.
"That's it. Let me hear you. Let me feel you."
He's building new memories deliberately. Narrating every detail so I can hold onto this.
"I'll be your memory." Logan vows. Still pounding into me. "Every time you lose something—I'll fill the space with us. With this."
His hand slides between us. Fingers find my clit. Rub tight circles.
"Come for me. Let me feel you come around my cock."
The combination pushes me over. I come hard. Screaming his name. Body arching off the bed.
Logan follows immediately. Roars as he empties inside me. The mate bond flares brilliant gold.
He collapses onto me. Both gasping. But he doesn't pull out. Stays buried deep.
"Not done." He says after a moment. Already hardening again inside me.
"Logan—"
"I said I'm not done. We're building memories. Plural."
He fucks me again. Slower this time but no less intense. Then again. Changing positions so I'm on my hands and knees. Him behind me.
"Watch in the mirror." He orders.
I see us reflected. Him taking me from behind. My face flushed. Both lost in sensation.
"Remember this. How we look together. How we fit."
We come together again. Both crying out.
Finally, after the fourth round, we collapse together. Sweaty. Satisfied. Completely spent.
Logan pulls me against him. Both still catching our breath.
The grief is still there. The loss still aches.
But wrapped in his arms. Body still humming.
It's bearable.
"Tell me something about my mother." I request quietly.
Logan hesitates. "I never met her. She died before I knew you existed."
The words sting.
"Tell me about yours then."
"My mother was fierce. Luna before my father died. She taught me that strength isn't just physical—it's emotional, mental. The ability to keep going when everything's falling apart."
"She sounds amazing."
"She was. She would have loved you."
I trace his face with my fingers. Memorizing features my Oracle power already stole once.
"I love you."
"I love you. Every version of you. With memories or without. You're mine, and I'm yours."
Through the bond: his absolute certainty.
I may not remember my mother's face.
But I remember his.
I remember this. His hands on my body. His voice in my ear. His love surrounding me.
And maybe that's enough.
"This morning Lilith dies." Logan says quietly. "Today we interrogate Freya about Viktor. We have forty-one days until the blood moon."
"Forty-one days."
"To prepare. To train. To strengthen our bond so Viktor can't corrupt it."
"Then we'd better get started." I pull him down for another kiss.
He responds immediately. Already hardening against my thigh.
"Building memories?"
"Building memories."
And we do. Again and again. Until the grief fades to background noise and all that exists is us.
Together.
Always together.
