Sixty Three
Sixty Three
Anya
I reconsidered packing a bag but then I needed a place to put the things I needed. I loaded the bag up with my essentials, most especially food. In case I came across my brothers and they were starving. I needed something that would be enough for the three of us until we returned here.
I went into my drawer and took out three blankets. I wasn’t packing for just me so everything I packed I took in threes.
There was a knock on the door and I ignored it. It had to be someone who came to gloat. I thought as I kept on packing my bags.
The knock came several more times before it got on my nerves and I went ahead to open the door ready to lash out at whosoever was behind it.
“Theon?” Since I heard he got his wolf and returned to the territory we haven’t come across each other. The bastard was still as smug as ever.
“What?” I growled, taking a defensive pose. He was not to be trusted just like his father. The both were the same.
“Come on now is that how to say hello to your cousin?” Cousin my ass.
“The fuck do you want?” I asked, disregarding his comment about us being cousins. We were nothing to each other.
“Well, I wanted to tell you that I am coming with you” I didn’t notice the bag in his hands until he tapped it twice. I looked up at him with a very confused frown on my face.
“Your father doesn’t want to hide anymore” he chuckled. Pushed the door open and waltzed inside my room like he built it for me.
“My father knows nothing about this”
“Yeah right” I closed the door. Not because I wasn’t wary of him but because I knew if he was here to kill me he couldn’t do it inside my room. Three guards were stationed outside my door. Too many witnesses.
On alert, I walked around him, towards my drawer, and continued packing. I said no further words to Theon.
“I know what my father did”
“Hmm,” I continued with my things.
He walked up to me and paused in front of my bed. “I am coming with you”
“Why?” I asked, taking a pause.
He smirked and I rolled my eyes. “Cause I want to watch you suffer. I mean it’s fun watching you struggle”
“You’re a bastard, you know that Theon. This is why Kade never liked you”
“Wrong. He hates me because of my father. But who cares? I am not doing this for them. I kind of like our Luna. We are best friends”
I tilted my head back and laughed. Stomach-churning kind of laughter. Tears filled my eyes as I made fun of Theon. He had always been delusional. He could never tell what was real and not.
“Don’t be stupid. Best friends? As if” I pushed past him and continued with my packing.
I went into the deepest part of my drawer and pulled out all the different sizes of daggers that I owned. I won all of these in a contest. Defeated so many men. They said it’s because I was a healer. That was why I was able to recover quickly. Lies. I didn’t even know how to use my powers then. They were just scared of a girl kicking their asses.
“I don’t care what you think. I just believe my father is crossing the line. It wasn’t supposed to go this far”
I paused holding the dagger in my hand. His eyes were glued to it. Watchful. Calculative. I wasn’t going to hurt him, at least not yet.
“What do you know” he smiled knowing fully well he got my attention.
“I tell you but you promise to take me along”
“Why?” He definitely had a motive and I was going to find out.
“Like I said. I like Lyla” hmmm.
Theon was everything but never stupid. That was what scared me.
“Sure. I can’t stop you anyway. Now speak. What do you know?”
“Anna” I stilled. Of course he would know about Anna. He was there that night. The night Kade saw her.
“Not enough” I turned away but his next words stopped me.
“Lyra is alive. But I am not so sure about your brothers because Anna wants them dead. She will kill you too”
“How do you know this?”
“We can talk on the road. If you’re done packing let’s go. We are losing daylight.” He was right. It was mid-afternoon and soon the sun would set.
“Does your father know you have decided to accompany me?”
“Accompany you? He thinks I am going to kill you. That’s what he wants me to do anyway,” my heart began to pound loudly in my chest but I didn’t show him fear.
“Don't worry. I don’t need any extra reason for your brothers to hate me” Something in the way he said it made me want to believe him but no. His family was known to be nothing but liars. I would never trust the spawn of my uncle. Never.
