FIFTY THREE

FIFTY THREE
Lyra

“I’ll kill you. I’d kill all of you!” I growled.

Something animalistic tugged at my strings. My heart raced faster than it ever did. I felt my blood flow through my veins. I was agitated. I hated this. I need to get out.

“Please,” I pleaded. Resulting in begging. I wasn’t above it if it gets me what I want.

‘They won’t listen,’ Ria said, brushing minds with me. She could feel my nervousness as I could feel hers.

“They’d kill them. She would kill them, and I can’t do anything to stop it.” Falling to my knees, I covered my face with my hands and let my tears fall. I hated feeling helpless.

“Do something, Ria,” I cried, hitting my chest. Breathing became difficult as I forced myself to calm down.

‘I can’t. I haven’t awakened fully. My powers are restricted’ her voice in my head sounded sad.

She was also torn apart by what was happening. They were my mates as much as they were hers. And the only reason she was this calm is that she wasn’t fully whole. I could feel her anger bursting through my veins, but she sounded calm.

The lives of my mates were at risk, and all I could do was cry. “Open the damn doors, and I might spare you. You know what I am, don’t you?” I said to the guards.

They didn’t look too strong. I could take them out. I just needed to channel that energy. The one I used when Camille and Lucy attacked me that day. It was all Ria’s power. Power that I could feel in my veins. I just didn’t know how to bring it forth. I couldn’t access it, and she didn’t know how either.

It’s like I had to be in some state of mind. What state of mind can I ever be in that would be worse and more demanding than this?

“I am sorry, but orders are orders,” one of them said. That one I’ve been meaning to gut open. He infuriated me with his replies.

“If I manage to get out, I’m killing you first,” I snarled. I meant it, and he knows.

“Your only saving grace is this door.” One that I had been tugging at the hinges for a long time.

I couldn’t help but wonder who they built this room for. For the hinges on the door to be unbreakable.

I began to pace the room, unsure of what to do. I haven’t heard any sound or growls. Everywhere was peaceful. How long? Until the worst comes, I have to focus on getting out of here.

The windows all had the same lock on them. Shit. After what seemed to be an endless search, I lay down on the floor. My knees pressed against my chest as I listened to the sound of the wind blowing through the window.

One minute. Two. I remained there. Only getting up when I heard a female's voice.

“Sorry to have kept you waiting. Your lunch is here,” she said, holding a tray. I glared at her to turn her down, but I stopped. This was perfect.

“Can you bring it inside. I can’t get up.” Please fall for it.

“No. She’s dangerous at this point .” The guards cautioned, and I frowned.

I sat up, giving the lady my saddest look. “Why would you say that? I’m the one locked up, and you’re saying I’m dangerous?” I said playing the victim card, even though all I wanted to do was snatch her wrist and twist it until it bled out. Shit, where were these thoughts coming from?.

“Open the gates,” her voice portrayed authority. She looked like she had power.

“Who are you?” I asked after seeing the hesitation on the guard's faces.

“Just a server. Let me get the food to her. She hasn’t eaten since dawn,” very good. I could use this opportunity.

“Ishada will have our heads if we let you in.” The quiet guard finally speaks.

“She’s feral now”

“Wouldn’t you be if you thought your mate was in danger? It’s a normal reaction. It’s not like you’d leave the door open. I just want to drop the food and leave,” oh wow. Who was this woman? She was reasonable. Maybe I could reason with her.

“No,” the guard said, and I didn’t understand what came over me. I snapped. Red clouded my sight as I lunged at the gates, and in one movement, the door came off its hinges. The guards' faces morphed. I could smell fear. I didn’t even notice I had shifted until I had grabbed the guard holding him caged with my claws.

I will forever be marveled at the size of Ria. Teeth’s baring. The lady screamed, and the other guard ran away.

“Youu,” I growled. I wanted to tear his face apart.

“Please don’t. I was only acting according to orders. Don’t hurt me,” I was going to hurt him. And I was going to hurt him badly, but before I could strike him, I heard a loud howl from afar. Two howls. My fingers shook.

That was familiar. Too familiar, Ria howled. ‘’Mates,’ they were here. Immediately, I let the guard go as I rushed towards the sound. Kade. Kael. They came for me. They were here. I need to see them.

I dashed through the buildings, knocking down whatever was in my path without a single care. Heard a few screams, but I didn’t care. I didn’t pay attention. My one goal. Get to my mates.

I smelled them before I saw them. They were alone, why? Well, not fully alone because Anna and a few other guards have them cornered. Blood. The smell of blood filled my nostrils. They were hurt. Who dared to hurt them?

Without thinking, I step in front of them, baring my teeth at Anna. She. She tried to hurt what’s mine. I’d never forgive her. She could tell what I was thinking because something flickered through her eyes.

“Move,” she said, glaring at me.

“You’d have to kill me first”
