ALICIA'S POV
I ran as fast as my legs could carry, “help!” I yelled but there was no one there to save me. Not a single soul.
“Catch her! Don't let her get away! Kill her.” The commander barked behind me but I didn't stop, I kept running deep inside the forest.
Torns tearing deep into my foot, and coarse shrub branches brushing against my skin. Sweat and tears streaming down my face like an open ocean but I didn't dare to stop running, for fear of the unknown.
At the end of the road, I sighted a tunnel and without thinking twice, I dashed into it for protection, breathing heavily, shivering as the weather had become colder and praying silently that they don't trail behind me.
I stay in my hiding spot for what seemed like hours and finally when I felt the coast was clear, I came out only to make eye contact with one of the men who wanted to kill me.
“There she is!” He yelled.
I felt my legs paralyzed and unable to move as they gather around me, each of them holding a dagger in their hands. I begged to be spared but instead their leader raised his dagger to end my existence and at that moment, I pry my eyes open, jolting up awake in my bed. I was sweating like I had just seen a monster and my entire cloth was drenched as I struggled to normalize my breathing level.
“She's awake.” My maid cried, her loud scream deafening my ears and I growled as the scream threatened to tear apart my brain.
The migraine had intensified and I growled yet again in pain, what was happening?
It was then I realised it was just a dream. I was actually in my room.
Just then my door flings open and the triplets rush towards me.
“Are you okay? They asked almost in unison.
“Yes, now please can you lower your tone?” I asked, my hand placed against my forehead and I shut my eyes in pains.
“What's wrong with you head?” Arnold asked.
“Migraines?” Adrian asked as well.
“Should we get the doctor?” Alex added and at this moment it felt like my head was going to burst. Why was everyone talking at the same time!
“I think it's best she's left to rest.” My maid protested. All three brothers drifted their attention from me and fixed them on her. They starred as though she had just committed an abominable crime.
“Actually, that's exactly what I need.” I managed to say.
“We can stay mute and watch you rest.” Arnold offered and the other brothers rolled their eyes. “Seriously? She needs privacy and medication.” Adrian explains.
“And food.” I chipped in, watching as they all held themselves from laughing.
Did I say anything funny? I ask myself. I'm literally starving to death!
The triplets soon leave my room and Jenna, my maid prepared a warm bath for me after which I eat, took my medication and lay back in bed to rest but I remembered Finn!
Oh my gosh! I knew he would be worried sick about me. I dialed his number numerous times but it was switched off, well at least I tried to reach out.
I lay back in bed, lost in thoughts and after sometime, I slipped out of consciousness yet again.
~
When I opened my eyes again, it was already evening. Now, I felt much stronger and the headache had reduced. I looked around but there was no one nearby, not even Jenna.
Clearing my face, I stepped out of the room and downstairs into the sitting room but I'm stopped on my track when I peeped and saw the triplets, all of them wearing a serious look in front of a computer system.
I was curious, I wanted to know what they were doing but just then I heard Alpha Richard's voice and I retracted my steps.
Video call…
Maybe I should join them, who knows my mum might be there as well.
But judging from their looks I knew they were discussing something important and so I decided to listen.
As I listened to what Alpha Richard had to say, I understood that the symbol inscribed on the wall of the school premises belonged to a rival pack that had long been exiled. Alpha Richard in his young age alongside his father had defeated the pack years ago. That inscription only meant one thing, that they were back, but for what purpose?
I also hear them talk about a pendant and it's symbol hint at a deeper history tied to Richard’s past and someone else. I didn't get to hear it clearly.
Alpha Richard asked the boys to go in search of the rogues that had attacked the school but Alex went ahead to stay they were all dead.
I gasped in disbelief, did he kill them?
Then he began to narrate that he had someone follow them but before he could get to them, someone already did and all he could see were dead bodies of the rogues lying on the floor.
For the next few minutes I could barely hear anything as I tried to picture the scenario Alex had just painted in my head.
The video call soon dismissed and I should be running off to my room but I stayed, I don't know why but it did.
I heard Alex telling his brothers something and I listened.
“I've not been myself since the scene last night.” He started.
“We understand you.” Arnold said, punching Alex slightly on his shoulder.
“I know but there's more.” He states.
“What happened?” Adrian asked.
“I had seen a person there, amongst the lifeless bodies, he had feisty eyes like a killer and…” he paused. Staring at my direction but I'm quick enough to hide before he catches a glimpse of me.
“And what?” They brothers asked.
“He was wearing Brianna necklace. The one I had gotten for her birthday.
I'm confused for a while and try to process the whole information at once that I didn't know when I accidentally pushed the door and bumb! There were the triplets,
standing Infront of me, there hands in their pocket as Alex asked,
“How long have you been here?”
