Together as one

Eliza's POV

"Kill us?" I sneered. "You have no power to do such a thing. I know my mates are here. I can feel them." I wagged a finger at Yelda and saw the flicker of uncertainty cross her withered face. She looked at me and threw her head back, laughing loudly, causing her stupid followers to step back in confusion. I saw the way that they exchanged looks and hesitated.

"I am the white wolf; I am the royal Princess. You have no say over me. My father is the king." I continued to spout, finding my confidence flush over me.

"That is right. She is the Princess, the white wolf, and our mate. We are hers." Four familiar voices shouted in unison, and I smiled, knowing my mates were with me. I did not need to look behind me to see that I was fully backed up. I felt Jasmine howl in the back of my mind. I held my hands and closed my eyes tightly as my mates stood beside me and joined hands.

We formed a circle of strength, an unbreakable bond tethered by love and loyalty. My heart raced, not with fear but with a fierce determination. The air buzzed with an electric energy, charged by our unity, as I opened my eyes to meet Yelda's gaze. Her laughter faltered, replaced with a flicker of apprehension.

"Your father may be king, but what is a throne to the spirit of the wild?" she snarled, her bravado slipping. "You stand before me, a mere child playing at royalty."

Mates or not, I could hear the doubt in her voice. Perhaps she hadn't expected me to rally my strength, to draw upon the power within and around me. I turned to my mates—Rylan, Rio, Enzo and Ed—each one radiating warmth and support, anchoring me as I prepared to unleash the force that coursed through my veins.

"We are not just the royal lineage," I declared, my voice steady and resolute. We are the embodiment of the white wolf's legacy—the protectors of our realm—and I will not bow to you." With every syllable, my connection to my mates deepens, amplifying my resolve.

Yelda stepped closer, her followers still uncertain and hangdog behind her. "You think your bond can protect you? Love is a fragile thing, a mere illusion in this world of dark ambitions."

"It's your perception that's fragile," I shot back, fueled by Jasmine's fierce spirit roaring within me. "You don't understand what we have. You'll never understand the strength of a pack united by love and purpose."

With that, I took a deep breath, drawing on my inner strength and letting the energy of the moonlight fill me. I could feel the presence of all the ancestors who had come before me, guiding me. The pulse of magic swirled around us, a spectacular force ready to be unleashed.

"Join me," my voice soared, and I felt my mates channelling their power through our clasped hands. "Let us show her the truth of our legacy!"

In an instant, I felt the earth beneath us tremble, responding to our collective call. Energy radiated from our hands, a brilliant light illuminating the dimness surrounding us, forming a barrier against Yelda's dark intentions. Her smile faltered as the ground beneath her shifted, echoing the strength of the white wolf lineage.

"Together!" I shouted, "We can awaken the spirit of the wild!"

The light intensified, swirling like a ferocious storm as if the very nature around us recognized its rightful guardians. My heart thrummed with adrenaline, with the relentless spirit of the white wolf igniting within me. I stood firm, emboldened by the unwavering love of my mates beside me, ready to face whatever darkness threatened to engulf us.

Yelda stepped back, her eyes wide, as she grappled with the power we unleashed. The prayers of our ancestors rumbled in the air, a chorus that sent a shiver down my spine. Today, the royal Princess would not fall; I would rise as the leader I was meant to be, the true embodiment of the white wolf. And together, we would fight for our realm, home, and each other.

As the pulse of energy radiated from our joined hands, I could feel it transforming into a tangible force—a wave of light that surged forward, illuminating the darkness around Yelda and her followers. The ground beneath us vibrated with an ancient power as if the very earth recognized the white wolf's call and our pack's unity.

Yelda's expression twisted with fury and dread as the light enveloped her, reducing the shadows that clung to her like a shroud. "You think this is enough to intimidate me?" she hissed, her defiance shaky. "You are a fool if you believe you can carve your name alongside the ancients!"

Without hesitation, I channelled my strength further, drawing from the core of my being and the unwavering bond I shared with my mates. "We are not just names," I retorted, my voice steady and echoing with conviction. "We are a force, and we will reclaim what is ours!"

With one fierce cry, I felt Jasmine stir, her fierce spirit igniting my own. "Release it!" I yelled, urging my mates to summon their strength as well. In that moment, we became a storm—an unstoppable force merging with the power of the ancestors, the very essence of the wild around us.

The light burst forth in a blinding radiance, coalescing into shimmering tendrils that snaked toward Yelda. I could see her struggling against it, her followers wavering in loyalty as confusion washed over them. Doubt flickered in their eyes, and I seized the moment.

"Look at her!" I cried, my voice cutting through the chaos. "Look at the darkness she brings! She thrives on fear and division. This is your opportunity—stand with us, let go of the shadows!"

Several of Yelda's followers hesitated, the doubt now clear on their faces. They looked from me to their once-beloved leader, who was now ensnared in the light, her form shifting as the ancient magic wrestled with her dark aura.

Suddenly, a brave soul from the back stepped forward, hesitantly lowering his weapon. "We deserve better than this!" he shouted, unleashing a wave of murmurs. "We deserve to stand in the light!"

"I told you not to be swayed by her lies!" Yelda's voice rose dangerously high, but the strength of her command faltered. One by one, others began to step forward, dropping their weapons, their expressions transforming from fear to resolve.

"Yes!" I shouted, heartened by their shift. "Join us! Together, we can reclaim our freedom. Together, we can unite as one pack!"

The energy between my mates and I surged even stronger, igniting a fervour amongst the defectors. It felt like the air thickened with hope, bringing more souls forward each moment until half of Yelda's followers had forsaken her. As they rallied to our side, the tide turned, and I felt the pack's strength grow exponentially, swirling like a tempest around us.

"Fools!" Yelda spat, her eyes wild with fury. "You've betrayed your kind!"

"Your kind?" I countered, stepping forward, the energy pulsing through me like a heartbeat. "This is not your kind. This is not who we are meant to be—a fractured group under the weight of your darkness. "We are wolves of the wild, born to thrive in the light!"

Her face twisted in disbelief, and I felt the magic strike deeper at that moment of distraction. The light coiled around her, illuminating her in a vivid glow before it began to consume the shadows she had wielded for so long.

"No!" she screeched, the desperation in her voice echoing through the clearing. The followers pooled around me, emboldened by my words, and with one synchronized shout, we channelled our energy forward, willing the light to engulf her.

In an explosion of luminescence, the darkness that had long twisted Yelda faded into the ether with a furious wail, and the clearing fell silent. I held my breath, feeling the tumultuous power dissipate like smoke on the wind.

The followers who had gathered beside me looked around, confusion slowly morphing into elation and relief as they realized the weight of the darkness had been lifted.

"We did it," I whispered, feeling the warmth of my mates surrounding me. Every muscle in my body ached as if I had just run miles, but it was a satisfying exhaustion. "Together."
