Chapter 92 War Is Coming
Fiona’s POV.
I watch as Micah slams the file down in anger. It's midnight, and he hasn't come to bed. Ever since we came back from the sanatorium, he has been in his office, attending calls and trying to understand the situation. I lean against the doorframe and take in the tense angle of his shoulders.
"What is it, love?" I ask him softly, concern etched across my face.
He shakes his head, frustration clear in his expression.
"My sources tell me; Jeremy has betrayed the pack. They are living there, Fiona. And from what I know of him, he has probably already told them about all the points they can attack at Alastair. The Warpaw Kingdom has been breathing down our necks for ages, looking for any weakness to exploit. This is a gold mine for them. They are ruthless, and if they attack, not a single child is safe in Alastair."
Micah pinches the bridge of his nose, a sign of the immense pressure he's under.
"War is coming, Fiona, and we need to be ready for it."
I slowly walk into the room and make my way to where he is sitting behind his desk. In another second, I am straddling him. I wore his shirt to bed, and it rides up my thigh.
Micah wraps his hands around my thigh to hold me in place. I lower my head against his and breathe him in. Gently, I rub his shoulders, trying to massage away the knots. He closes his eyes and sighs, both relieved to have me there and still tense about the thoughts going on in his head.
I raise my other hand and tangle it in his hair.
"You will figure it out, Micah. You always do. You are the king of this kingdom, and you'll protect your people. I know it because I know you, and I know it because I am going to be with you every step of the way. We will protect Alastair because it's our home. We will protect it because it's our daughter's home too."
Micah raises his hand and firmly grips the back of my neck. He nods once, twice, and then, when he opens his eyes to look at me with those gorgeous ice-blue eyes, I know my husband is going to make the enemy pay.

The next morning, Micah is all action. Small figurines of soldiers are scattered across the detailed map of Alastair, and he studies the terrain as though he knows it like the back of his hand.
Jeremy aligning with Jason is worrisome, but whatever information Jeremy possesses, I am convinced that Micah knows it better.
Introducing me to a man named Havier is his first move. Havier, a massively built man with dirty blonde hair cascading down to his shoulders, looks intimidating at first glance. Yet, as I observe him, I realize it's merely a facade.
His cheeks are round with a tinge of color, revealing a youthful demeanor.
"Havier is one of our best fighters. He is going to stay here to protect you and Amelia." He tells me.
“I need to go talk to the soldiers. They haven’t seen war in a long time and I need to prepare them for it.” He whispers to me and I nod tightly.
Then Micah bends out and kisses Amelia's cheek.
“Daddy is heading out, darling girl. Don’t worry your mother too much.” He tells her playfully and she quickly throws her arms around his neck once before running over to Havier and talking his ear off.
Micah smiles before shaking his head and turning to me.
"Take care of yourself, sweetheart," he says, and kisses me with such bruising intensity that I almost don’t let him leave.
When I turn back, I find a hulking Havier sitting at the kitchen table, allowing Amelia to braid his hair. He grins sheepishly as my eyes meet his.
"Mama, Havier is just like a teddy bear!" Amelia exclaims happily, and I shake my head at her antics.
"You really shouldn't let her do that," I tell Havier, but he just shrugs. "Kids are my weakness. My wife and I are going to have a baby soon, and I just hope she can be as adorable as your daughter."
My heart warms at his words. "How old are you?" I inquire, and he mumbles out “18”. Almost a child, just as I suspected.
"I found my mate, and we decided not to waste time and marry. She is my biggest love after my sword," he shares proudly, and I smile at the genuine affection in his voice.
The mention of his wife prompts me to glance towards the door, through which my husband just walked out.
"I hope everything is alright," I think.
Please God, keep him safe.
I can’t help but send out a quick prayer.

Third POV
Little by little, news of war spreads through the kingdom. The werewolves in Alastair are on edge, their anxious glances flickering towards the Lycan prince amidst them. Micah stands before his army, addressing them with a calm demeanor that belies the storm brewing within.
"My fellow warriors," Micah begins, his voice carrying across the assembled soldiers. "Today, we face a formidable foe, but I stand here not just as your prince but as one of you. Our kingdom, our home, is under threat. It's not just a war for territory; it's a war for our families, our children, and our future."
He paces before them, his eyes meeting those of each soldier, instilling a sense of unity. "We have faced challenges before, and we have emerged stronger. This war is no different. We have something they can never comprehend – the strength that comes from unity and love. Today, we fight not just for ourselves but for the generations that will follow."
Micah's words resonate, and a murmur of determination ripples through the ranks. He continues, "We know this land. We know its every crevice, every hidden path. Our fortress is not just made of stone; it's forged in the bravery of each one of you. They may have their tricks, but they will never break our spirit."
With that, he gives them direction, tells them of orders only the army of Alastair knows.
And yet, as night falls and Warpaw’s army infiltrates, things don’t seem to go as planned.
The Alastair Kingdom has always been strategically placed, a military fortress with a terrain surrounded by mountains on all sides, save for one opening. This geography has proven advantageous in countless battles, rendering it easy to defend and challenging to attack. Warpaw Kingdom has attempted invasions before, each thwarted by the natural defenses of the Alastair landscape.
However, this time, the tables are turned.
Thanks to Jeremy's knowledge, the invaders target the one tunnel that allows Warpaw's army to infiltrate. Utilizing Fiona’s body scent perfumes as a weapon, they launch a deadly assault. The Alastair soldiers, momentarily disoriented, struggle to distinguish friend from foe.
It’s chaos.
It’s madness.
And, the odds are not in the favor of Alastair.
