Chapter 83 Witch and werewolf

Chapter 83 Witch and werewolf
“What’s wrong with her?” Casimir asked as the doctor treated Leia, who lay unconscious on the bed.

The doctor shook his head slightly, half-closing his eyes as he took her pulse. Casimir noticed the man’s hesitation and began to grow impatient.

“Speak!” He barked, causing the doctor to flinch and drop Leia’s hand.

“Forgive me, Alpha, but I can’t say precisely what’s wrong. I was told she drowned, but that alone wouldn’t cause her body to pale like this. It looks more like a disease than exhaustion,” the doctor divulged.

“A disease?” Casimir asked, his gaze dropping to Leia.

“Yes, but I did not detect any specific one. Perhaps if I run a few more tests, I may be able to find the cause,” the doctor answered, deepening Casimir’s worry.

“Is she in danger?” He inquired.

“No. She is fine internally, it’s just her body undergoing changes physically,” the doctor replied, glancing at the Alpha as he swallowed in fear. He knew he could not fool Casimir for long, but until he was certain his suspicion was correct, he would not disclose it. If it turned out to be a simple allergy or genetic issue, an incorrect diagnosis could cost him his life. Moreover, he could barely sense Luna’s wolf, there was no way it was what he thought. There has been no record of such in ages, and the probability of that being the case was nearly impossible.

“Do everything you can, and do not leave her side even for a second,” Casimir warned, staring daggers at the doctor.

“Absolutely, Alpha,” the doctor answered.

“Let me treat your wound too, Alpha?” The doctor urged, but he was met with silence.

“I will send my men to check on you at intervals,” Casimir said before walking out of the room.

Once he was gone, the doctor collapsed to the floor, catching his breath. Turning his gaze back to Leia, he frowned, hoping it was a natural cause and had nothing to do with what he feared. That was the only way she could survive in this dangerous world.

…

Three days later.

“What do you think his dislikes are?” Aria eagerly asked, sitting in a way that showed just how invested she was in the conversation. She leaned forward, palms facing up as she listened.

“I have known that blockhead for over a decade, and I am not proud to say I don’t know a single thing he dislikes,” Rhea answered, resting her chin on her hand and squinting as she stared up in thought.

“Not even one?” Aria asked, raising her index finger and snapping Rhea’s attention back to her.

“If you like him that much, why not just tell him? Most men care only about fucking seventy percent of the time. Don’t waste your energy doing cute things for him,” Rhea suggested, standing and walking over to the couch where Aria sat.

“I am going to fuck him once I am sure he’s my type,” Aria blurted, causing Rhea to scoff and shake her head, taken aback by Aria’s honesty. She had only meant to encourage her; she hadn’t known Aria was that blunt.

“How did you end up with a friend like her?” Rhea asked, turning to face Leia and resting a hand on the back of the couch, genuinely curious.

Busting into laughter, Aria exclaimed, “Ahh!” Then continued, “She was always the bold one, until she wasn’t. She taught me how to get back at people. She taught me how to put people in their places. I learned almost every bad behavior from her, including different bed positions. And then one night, she stopped being that girl I knew.”

Rhea’s eyes widened as she dropped her gaze to Leia, disbelief written all over her face.

“Her?” She exclaimed, raising her brows at Aria and pointing toward the unconscious Leia on the bed.

They were inside a room where Leia lay motionless, surrounded by two nurses tending carefully to her.

“I know what you are thinking, but you would have liked her 8 years ago. The day her parents chose her sister as their successor even though the elder sister should have been chosen, she changed. She became withdrawn, stopped playing like she used to, and began acting more like a proper lady,” Aria divulged with a sigh, her gaze shifting between Leia and Rhea.

“I have always wondered, how the hell did she end up with a douchebag like Andrien?” Rhea asked, rolling her eyes.

“That bastard!” Aria yelled, grinding her teeth in anger.

The nurses turned to stare at her in confusion until she quickly said, “Sorry, sorry,” apologizing in a low voice, prompting them to turn away.

“It was a very unfortunate night… or maybe it was day. I can’t remember clearly. She saved him from dying and brought him home. The bastard seduced her and somehow made her fall for him. Against everyone’s advice, she insisted on marrying him,” Aria explained, causing Rhea to mouth an ooh as understanding finally dawned on her. She had often wondered why Casimir refused to reveal how Andrien had been saved back then, now she knew. Leia might be implicated for saving Andrien’s life back then though he was now a free man.

If the council ever found out it was Leia who saved him, the rumors would be ruthless and uncontrollable.

“Did she ever know why he was on the verge of dying?” Rhea inquired, and Aria shook her head.

“Not once did she ask him. I told her repeatedly to ask him, but she kept saying she would wait until he told her himself. He never did,” Aria answered.

“What about her parents? Did they agree to the marriage?” Rhea asked.

Aria scoffed. “Don’t even get me started on those wicked people. They opposed the marriage so fiercely they threatened her inheritance. Leia gave up everything that was hers just to marry him. And now, those same parents have married their daughter to him. I swear, if i could, I will kill them myself but I won’t let Leia miss that opportunity,” she finished with a giggle that brought a small smile to Rhea’s face.

“I can’t believe that a weakling managed to break a family apart. Almost makes me jealous of him,” Rhea commented, shaking her head.

“He was only the catalyst. Leia’s parents always favored her younger sister. Everyone thought it was because Isabella was black-haired, unlike Leia, until we later discovered Leia wasn’t their daughter at all. I remember that day…she was so heartbroken she refused to believe the parents she spent her entire life trying to impress weren’t hers,” Aria said, sighing between her words.

“Then who are her real parents?” Rhea asked.

“We don’t know. All they said was that she was born from an affair between a witch and a werewolf.”
