Chapter 94 Insecure

Chapter 94 Insecure
“Alpha.” A voice called from outside the door, breaking the tension between them and prompting Leia to avert her gaze first, grateful for the interruption. Heaven knew what would have happened right there if it hadn’t come.
Hesitantly, Casimir released her hands and got down from the bed, making his way toward the door.
When he opened it, Lucien’s angry face appeared as he reported, “We need to leave this hotel now. It’s an ambush.” Casimir’s expression hardened, his gaze shifting slightly as it landed on Leia a few steps away.
“How many minutes do we have?” He asked.
“Twenty at most before they arrive. My men have eyes on them,” Lucien answered.
“Get everyone moving now. Let Alpha Damien’s men stay behind and escort the women out first. Have one of your strongest men escort Luna; we will follow closely,” Casimir ordered. Lucien remained silent, only speaking when Casimir met his gaze questioningly.
“Everyone is ready to move, but no, Alpha. You have to go with Luna. If our facts are accurate, it’s Franklin’s men, and his fight is with you. As long as you are absent, they won’t be able to cause trouble. I will follow as soon as I can,” he said, and Casimir knew he was right. He was always the target in every war, attack, or rebellion, and without him, they would be safer. Besides, every one of their men was important. As much as he wanted to wipe out Franklin’s men, he didn’t have a choice this time.
“Fine. Don’t take a stupid decision, and leave as soon as you can. We will deal with Franklin later,” Casimir ordered.
“Yes, Alpha,” Lucien replied, lowering his head in submission.
Leia, who had noticed something was wrong, got out of bed and stared at Casimir by the door, pondering what the problem could be.
When Casimir shut the door and turned to face the room, she asked, “Are we in trouble?” Her brow raised in curiosity.
“We are leaving now. You don’t have to pack anything. I will have everything replaced when we arrive,” he instructed, ignoring her question as he walked to the desk and grabbed his phone.
“Why? What’s wrong? Is everyone okay?” She asked, following him, restlessness settling in. Was there ever a day without trouble for them? Why did it seem Casimir had enemies everywhere? Then again, given his conquering sprees, who wouldn’t hate a man like him? He was rumored to dominate packs and subject them to cruel rule. Those packs were probably tired of bowing and wanted out from under him.
“I will explain later, but we are short on time,” he said, walking up to her and scooping her into his arms in one swift motion that made her gasp.
“Later, Leia. Later. Yell at me later,” he added, already anticipating her reaction. The pleading look in his eyes made her feel guilty, her face reddening in embarrassment. Was it really that frustrating to listen to her? Suddenly feeling like a burden, she lowered her gaze and let him carry her.
As they made their way to the ground floor, Leia suddenly remembered her friend and asked, “What about Aria?”
“In one of the cars. We are the only ones left,” he answered, causing her to breathe a sigh of relief.
They soon reached the hotel entrance, and just as Casimir had said, everyone was stationed and ready to move. Her eyes darted around until she spotted Aria in one of the cars, easing the tension in her chest.
“Move out!” Casimir barked, and they sprang into action, engines starting, feet pounding.
Casimir walked up to a car still at rest and helped Leia inside before getting in after her.
As they drove off, Leia kept stealing glances at him, worry furrowing her face. Since they left the hotel, his attention had been glued to his phone, never leaving it for a second.
She kept wondering what the problem was and whether they were still in danger when a thought struck her. “What about Lucien?” She asked.
“He’s back at the hotel,” Casimir replied.
“What? Why?” Her eyes widened as she stared at him in disbelief. Why would Casimir leave his beta to handle the danger alone?
“He stayed to distract them. He will clear our trail while we move farther away,” he explained. Though it answered her question, it did little to ease her concern.
“Is he going to be safe?” She asked, finally earning his full attention. His gaze held something else entirely. Confused, she frowned, trying to read it until it clicked. Was he jealous?
“Are you worried about him?” Casimir asked, his tone emotionless, the aura he gave off making her lean back slightly.
“Shouldn’t I be? He stayed to protect us. Who wouldn’t be worried in this situation?” She shot back, looking at him like he was being unreasonable.
“I only asked. I didn’t say anything,” he replied.
She scoffed and turned away, staring out the window in irritation.
Casimir’s phone rang, and though Leia didn’t want to look at him, her gaze shifted to him anyway.
“Okay. Find a shortcut and meet us at the Mazer’s hotel,” Casimir ordered before ending the call.
“He’s safe and should be with us soon,” he added when he met her eyes, his cold tone only fueling her frustration. She couldn’t believe he was acting this way out of jealousy over his beta. Did he expect her to be indifferent toward his men too? What a hypocrite. How dare he be jealous after marrying Violet? No, she wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of explaining herself. He made his choices without explanation, she would do the same.
Without another word, she simply nodded and looked away, fixing her gaze on the passing scenery.
Casimir continued watching her, regret settling in. Since the invaders incident, this was the closest they had come to a proper conversation, and he had ruined it with his possessiveness. He knew she didn’t like Lucien…at least, not yet. The problem was Lucien liked Leia and it made him insecure. If it ever came to that, he would choose his beta’s happiness. Still, he wanted to be selfish. It had taken him years to reunite with her, he wasn’t ready to push her into another man’s arms again. Even if Leia hadn’t noticed Lucien’s feelings, it was only a matter of time.
That was what he feared most.
‘What will it be, Leia?’
