Chapter 91 Misuse power
Chapter 91 Misuse power
“Just because he is not faithful does not mean you have to hate him. You are Luna, why not try using your power instead? Violet won’t sit and watch you be Luna for long. And if she finds out you both are not on good terms, she will use it to her advantage,” Aria advised, but Leia was no longer interested in anything she wanted to say.
“I do not care and do not want to be Luna. She can come have the position,” she answered and angrily walked away.
“Leia!” Aria called after her, meeting her pace as both friends fought while walking back.
…
Tomorrow came, and everyone in the packhouse was busy preparing to send the Alpha and his entourage off. Maids ran helter-skelter as they prepared everything they would need for the journey. The packhouse was full of noise and chaos, everyone doing their duties.
Just outside the packhouse stood many people. Men and women carrying loads over their shoulders stood outside, saying their farewells to families and loved ones.
“What is this? It’s not like we are not going to come back. Why are there so many tears?” Aria said, unable to understand the reason for the commotion.
“The North is a place southerners like them avoid because of the harsh weather and soil. They are afraid their loved ones would not be able to survive the weather, while some are afraid they would die fighting another pack’s war,” Leia explained, earning an understanding look from Aria.
“That’s why he allowed them to say goodbye to their families?” She pointed out, understanding the situation clearly.
“These ones don’t look like they care about dying,” Aria said, dropping her gaze on a few men standing away from the commotion. They all stood upright, staring into the distance like they were ready for war anytime, any day.
“Those are your father-in-law’s men. They are from the North and have no reason to fear,” Rhea suddenly appeared and explained. Leia seemed to understand Casimir at that moment, realizing why he married Violet. Looking at those men, even if they were short on help, they would easily make it through with them. From their hardened faces, one could tell they were the North themselves.
“At least she is not entirely useless,” Aria commented, earning a scolding look from Leia.
“What? I am only telling the truth,” she shrugged, answering, and left Leia’s side before she could hear more scolding.
Suddenly, the trumpet blew, and the families of the men and women began distancing themselves.
“It is time to leave,” Rhea told Leia, who nodded and followed after her.
Opening the backseat door, Rhea urged Leia to enter, but as Leia moved to get in, Violet suddenly maneuvered forward and entered the car, sitting where Leia was supposed to sit.
With a questioning look, Leia stared at her, demanding an explanation.
“I just got married to the Alpha. I do not want to be separated from him even for a moment. I hope you do understand how intense it is between lovers in the honeymoon stage,” Violet said, intentionally trying to make her jealous, earning a scoff from Leia.
Rhea waited, eager to see how Leia would handle the matter before stepping in.
“Why don’t you go tell him yourself how desperate you are to be with him? I am sure he would gladly provide a ride for you both,” Leia mocked, faking a smile at Violet, who got angry and stepped down from the car.
“I didn’t say I was desperate. Why are you changing my words? But then again, you wouldn’t understand since you have never been loved by him. You are just a useless, pathetic Luna who would soon be replaced by me,” she insulted.
Slap
Everything blurred as a slap landed across Violet’s face. Rhea was shocked and gasped in amusement, not expecting such a move from Leia.
Casimir, who stood just a few steps behind them, smiled, staring at Leia like a proud father.
“Shouldn’t we intervene?” Lucien asked, and Casimir raised his hand, stopping him from moving.
“She does not need our help,” he answered.
Taking a step closer to Violet, cornering her between the door and the entrance, Leia warned, “And this useless Luna is powerful enough to have you executed right now. So until you finally replace me, don’t anger me. I know how to misuse my power,” smiling at her as she took a step back.
Holding her face, Violet steamed, unable to do anything but stare back at Leia with so much hatred and ill intention. Leia was not the same innocent-looking girl she first met when she arrived.
“Rhea. Since our second wife is so desperate to ride with the Alpha, let’s not disturb them. Get me another car to ride in,” she ordered, moving away from the door, instantly receiving a nod from Rhea, who led her to another car.
Once she left, Casimir approached, and Violet suddenly burst into laughter, whining, “Alpha, Luna just slapped me for no reason,” and lied, playing the victim.
“Is that truly what happened, Lady Violet?” Lucien questioned, causing her gaze to waver as she grew nervous.
“Are you accusing me of lying against that bitch!” She shouted, her gaze dropping to Casimir, making her gulp, her heart skipping a beat at the death glare thrown her way.
Lowering her gaze, she said, “Luna. I meant Luna,” quickly correcting herself.
“Since Luna has decided to give you this car, I won’t disturb you either,” Casimir said, then ordered, “Let’s go,” earning a nod from Lucien as they both walked past her.
“But…” she breathed, swallowing her words as she realized she had lost the fight. She hit her leg against the floor, heaving as she stared after him hatefully. She was a queen in her father’s house, cherished by all; she was not going to let them bully her here.
“You just wait and see.” She muttered.
…
Now seated in another car, Leia breathed a sigh of relief, dropping her hands to her chest as she tried to regulate her breathing. She had only managed to compose herself back there; inwardly, she was angry and wished she had done more than just slap Violet across the face. This was her first time putting someone in their place, and surprisingly, it felt good. If only she had been courageous enough to do this years ago, perhaps she would have gotten her rightful place. But then, she was a bastard in that pack, was there ever a rightful place for her there?
The door on the other side flung open, jolting her out of her thoughts. Thinking it was Aria, she turned, her smile dropping when she saw it was Casimir.
The moment her gaze met his, her heart skipped a beat. This was the first time she was seeing his eyes properly since that night, and she felt her heart stir.
She looked away, turning toward the window as she tried to steady her heartbeat. Just when she had managed to calm it, there he was, stirring it awake again. And why was he here instead of with Violet?
“You got the wrong car. Your car is just two cars behind this,” she said, speaking with her back to him.
“I drive in the car I want. I don’t think I have to answer you,” he replied, and she smirked inwardly, knowing he was right.
“True. I completely forgot my place. Forgive me, Alpha,” she answered, and the atmosphere fell silent.
