Chapter 52

Chapter 52
I have to say, I was caught off guard when Brant wrapped his arms around me, tilting my head so I had no choice but to look straight into those gorgeous hazel eyes—the ones that always manage to pull me in, make me forget what I was even thinking, and lose myself.

I came here to tell him how I feel. I’d rehearsed it over and over in my head, but with his arms around me like this, my mind went blank. The words I’d prepared scattered like leaves in the wind. My heart was thudding, my palms damp. What do I even tell him? What if he doesn’t feel the same way? And yet… What if he does?

Before I could say anything, he let me go.
"Get in."

"What?… Where?" I asked.

He just motioned toward his car with his eyes. I hesitated for a second, then walked over, opened the door, and slid inside. He did the same, settling in beside me on the driver’s side.

"What are you doing here?" he asked, turning to face me.

"I… have no idea," I admitted. Fuck, why couldn’t I just say it? What was I so afraid of? He was right here, right in front of me, and we were alone in his car, no one around, no one to overhear us.

"Are you afraid of my car?" he asked with a soft chuckle, rubbing his jaw. "You drove it last time, didn’t you? And you beat Lucas."

"It wasn’t me who beat Lucas—it was Selene," I said.

"Your wolf?"

I nodded.

"So you deliberately wanted me to lose the race…?"

I cut him off. "What do you expect? You kidnapped me, and your crazy bitch used a damn dildo on me."

He smirked faintly. "Does she even know you’re here?"

"No. I snuck in," I said truthfully. If Leslie had seen me, she would’ve thrown me out without a second thought. I was just glad I hadn’t run into her on my way here.

My body moved on its own as I shoved him back into his seat and climbed onto his lap, my knees straddling his thighs. The faint scent of his cologne wrapped around me, my heartbeat pounding in my ears.

I swear, it wasn’t me. It was Selene.

Brant’s eyes widened in shock as he stared up at me. "What the hell are you doing?"

I held his gaze, and I could tell by the shift in his expression that he realized it wasn’t really me in control. I saw it in his eyes as they began to change. Then his lips crashed into mine, hot, forceful, claiming. His mouth was warm, moving with an urgency that made my head spin, sending a shiver straight down my spine.

'What the hell, Selene? What are you doing?' I demanded inside my head.

His hands slipped into the back of my jeans, cupping my ass. My hips rose instinctively as he smacked me, the sound sharp in the quiet car.

"Gorgeous ass," Ghost murmured.

"All yours," Selene purred through me, nipping at Brant’s jaw and trailing teeth and lips down to his throat. A soft moan escaped her—our—mouth.

He groaned low in his chest, his hand leaving my ass to slip under my shirt. His palm was warm against my stomach as it circled my navel, sliding higher until it reached my breast. His fingers pushed under my bra, teasing the sensitive peak until I moaned into his mouth, our lips meeting again, tongues tangling in a heated rhythm.

My hands went to his trousers, fumbling with his belt, fighting the buckle.

'Selene, stop it! I won’t let my first time with Brant be in a fucking car!'

'Who cares where it is? A car is sexier anyway,' she replied with a laugh.

Suddenly, strong hands gripped my shoulders and pushed me back. It wasn’t Ghost—it was Brant. My fingers stilled on his belt as the haze lifted, and just like that… It was me again.

I stared at him, breathless, feeling his hands slowly release my shoulders.

I slid back into my seat, gulping hard. My cheeks burned with embarrassment, but I couldn’t deny the truth—every nerve in my body was still humming, and the heat between us had been… insane.

I burst into laughter, and Brant joined in. When I looked at him, my breath hitched—he looked so damn hot, especially when he rolled his tongue over his lips.

"What the hell just happened?" he asked.

"I know, right? It’s crazy," I replied.

"I have to say… I love it," he said.

That sent me into another fit of laughter.

"I’ve met danger before, but it’s never kissed back like you do," he added, his voice low, edged with something darker.

I smiled and chuckled, heat still curling in my chest, as he started the car. The engine purred to life, headlights cutting through the shadows as the sun dipped lower. He shifted gears smoothly, one hand on the wheel with casual dominance while the other drummed lazily against his leg.

We headed toward the parking area near Lucas’s spot. But standing there, arms folded, was Leslie.

As Brant parked and we stepped out, her eyes locked on me, sharp with anger.

Then she turned to Brant. "What the fuck is she doing here?"

"Leslie… let it go," he said, walking toward her.

This woman had to be demented. She wasn’t his anymore, but she was acting like she still was. Even when she had been with him, she had no right to be jealous. Brant was never hers and he never would be.

She turned back to me. "What are you doing in my club? You should be ashamed of yourself—you’re his brother’s girlfriend, but here you are, following him around."

So Brant must have told her. But why?

I walked up to her, unflinching. She’d once tried to drown me. She’d scarred Marirose’s face and planted fear in her heart. But me? I wasn’t afraid of her then, and I sure as hell wasn’t afraid of her now.

"Listen, I’m not afraid of you. And Brant is not yours to demand," I said coldly.

She raised her hand toward my face, but I caught her wrist midair. "Don’t you dare," I warned, shoving her hand down hard.

"Enough," Brant cut in.

"Why don’t we do this," I said, stepping closer, nearly closing the space between us. "Let’s play cards. If I win, you leave me alone. If you win, I’ll stay out of your way and never set foot in this club again."

Maybe I’m no expert, but Asher taught me a thing or two, and I’m so damn tired of her. I was done with her crap. This was for me… and for Marirose.

"Sable…" Brant started.

"I know what I’m doing, unless you’re afraid for her," I said.

"Agreed," Leslie replied with a cold smile, though I could sense the flicker of fear.

Good. I was going to teach her a lesson she wouldn’t forget before I headed back to the mansion tonight. And when I was done, the whole damn club would know she could be beaten.

And she’d think twice before crossing me again.
