Ava's POV
The next day, I woke up early and only looked out the window, wondering when I was going to be discharged.
“Is that how strong the effect the mate bond desire had on me?” I said under my breath and sighed.
I grabbed the water bottle that was on my bedside desk and shook it only to find out it was empty.
“Goodness. Not when no one is right here with me.” I complained in a frustrated manner.
Just then, the ward door slid open, and my heart jumped in excitement, wondering who was coming in. It could be either Jake or Jack; they'll be able to get me water if I tell them I need some.
But to my shock, it was Prince Asher, and he was with a white polythene bag in which I could see a bottle of water and a pack of juice.
“Hey. How are you feeling?” He asked as he walked in with the polythene bag in his hand.
“Uhm... I'm okay.” I replied and sat up properly.
Then he dropped the items on my bedside desk and also pulled a chair out to sit before me.
“In case you're tense regarding the answer I want from you, don't be. Take your time.”
I smiled awkwardly at that. If anything, I didn't expect that he would give me a choice and not try to force me to accept what he desires.
“So, uh… I bought these for you so you have something nice to drink and munch on when starving or a little bored. It's because I don't know how long you'll be here; that's why I didn't buy many things. You should be getting better by now, so I believe that soon, you'll be discharged.”
“Thanks.” I appreciated him.
Things were seeming more and more awkward because he was being nice, which wasn't what I knew of him before. Is this how he is with people of higher status and value? I don't even want to be blinded by this kindness, or I might just regret it, especially if he isn't true with all that he is displaying.
“You’re welcome. By the way, I'll be leaving today. In fact, after seeing you, I'll be on my way back to the palace. So I just wanted to say goodbye before leaving.” He informed me, and I nodded my head like I actually cared.
Him leaving is going to give me nothing but a breathing space and the feeling of freedom. That's the best feeling ever.
“I have a few things to do back at the palace, so that's why I've got to be on my way. But at least I know where you are.” He said with a smile and rose to his feet.
Yes. You can leave. I'm the happiest girl on earth right now. I'm not going to miss your absence too.
“I wish you a safe journey back to the palace.” I spoke and pursed my lips.
That was the best I could do, and I didn't think anything more was expected of me to do. Prince Asher smiled at me again, then turned to leave.
As he walked out of the ward, I let out muffled squeals in excitement that he was leaving and I didn't have to worry about anything for a while.
Not long after he left, the nurse came in and checked my vitals again, noted it down, and nodded her head.
“Alright, miss. You'll be discharged today, so once your people are here, you can leave.” She informed me, and I smiled and giggled.
“Thanks so much. Finally.” I voiced out in so much joy that filled my heart and soul.
If I were on my feet right now, I would twirl around in joy and dance happily. The nurse also smiled and left the ward. Now, all I had to do was wait for either Jake or Jack to come see me.
Fortunately for me, about thirty minutes later, Jake and Jack came together, and I was all so excited.
“Wow. You look so happy today.” Jake said with a smile.
“Yes. And it's surprising seeing both of you today together.”
“Well, I wanted him to come over. Besides, I heard that you can now leave, so it'll be best if he takes you back to the dorm.” Jake suggested and folded his arms, looking happy and satisfied.
It was nice to see that he was gradually trusting him with me, and that's what I needed. I didn't need anything that would make me feel like I was beginning to build enemies and having to choose between two people that I care about.
“Well, thanks. I'm ready to leave. Can't seem to stay any second more in here.” I uttered and giggled happily.
They began to pack my things, and I got up on my feet too.
“Who got this for you?” Jake asked, out of curiosity.
“It's Prince Asher. He came here about an hour ago and brought me these things. But you don't need to worry too much; he has left the school already, back to the palace for some important things.” I informed him, and he let out a sigh.
“Alright, we can forget about him for a while. For now, you should go back to your dorm to rest,” he urged me, and Jack held my hands, and we began to walk out of the ward.
Soon, it was Jack and I heading to the dorm.
“But don't you think staying with the triplets could bring your health back to the way it was because of the prince? The bond could make things difficult for you.” Jack suggested, and I thought deeply about it.
“You're right. But we can't tell them to move out.”
“You can stay with me. I don't have roommates. We just need to ask for the professor's approval. I'm sure he'll understand.” Jack assured me and I nodded.
It was going to be wortha try, but then, I haven't imagined how it's going to be, living in the same room with Jack.
