Chapter 21 21

Chapter 21 21

Lucien's pov

"Sir...sir, the key please"
Still under the influence of rage and bloodlust watching those two, I almost forgot the man at the counter.

"I still need to ask a few more questions before I let you go Mr Donovan", He said squinting his pale eyes and trying to adjust his glasses as he stared at me.

"What do you mean by questions...I've already told you I'm Mr Donovan..."

The aggravating feeling within me almost slipped through my tone as I queried. It got extremely difficult to contain my impatience as the keys sunk tightly into my grip, I knew It was necessary not to blow my cover but I just felt the suppressing urge to end the conversation with him in a pool of his own blood.

"Hey mister, don't act smart with me...I see your kind almost every time here...you think you can fool me with your "playing dumb attitude"?. Now....give me the keys"
His voice grew louder and harsher flinging forth his hand stretched towards me with his palm spread out wide waiting to receive the key.

It couldn't look more pathetic and disdainful to any eyes than how I perceived the scenery. A Lycan being talked down on by this commoner?....I could kill him mercilessly within the seconds he used to stretch forth his hand.

I gazed down at his hand for a brief moment then let out a wry smirk. It was noticeable that our little dialogue was capable of gaining some unexpected audience which wasn't good at all.

I had to act smart......and fast.

"Let's get things straight now" I moved closer to the counter positioning my stature in a frightening manner as I towered over the man.

"It's not my fault that you have a failing memory of your costumers but I have the proof of booking a room here." I said hovering the keys over his face with my eyes still striking his face a cold death stare.

His hands once firm and rigid began to tremble as he caught sight of my razor sharp canine while I spoke. His stance grew weak and extremely difficult as I noticed him going out breath to speak.

I succeeded in making him vulnerable to my decadent aura of intimidation . "Either I get my room..or."

"Or...w-what...?" The feeling of intimidation induced on him was very visible in his facial expression.

"Trust me..."
Inclining my huge upper body over the counter to reach closer to him got out a petrified looking man trying to fearfully adjust farther from me while he struggled to maintain eye contact.

"It'll be a whole lot darker and disturbing...for you."

"Sorry for the inconveniences Mister-r..."

"Donovan...Mr. Donovan" I interrupted striking him a devious smirk

You can go now....sir" he said Immediately breaking eye contact and making a hand gesture indicating my room's direction.
"Good choice". Slowly backing out to my normal standing position, I leave the counter to my room.

"Where did that little bastard run of too?" Still wandering through the inn, I tried surveying for a little while for the hopes of finding Elliot and his little Latisha dancer. It was a solid opportunity to get at the head alphas for trying to kick me out. I couldn't take any chances with knowing that Elliot was here in the inn.

The ongoing party downstairs was overthrowing the entire inn. Serenading music boomed through multiple speakers filling the atmosphere with excitement.

Hearty cheers and chatters from a multitude were quite audible as it was in sync with the overwhelming music, one could barely hear there self while engulfed in the music and noise birthed from the merry gathering.

"What're you doing up here....the party's down there" bellowed from behind me was a young fellow still fresh in his youth was beaming with excitement over the party occurring as he hurriedly slid through my side and dashed down the flight of stairs.

The room corridors were almost vacant with locked doors on every rows while it's occupants were in the 'moment' downstairs.

"There's no hope of finding him here." After a deliberate scan of the area, looking for him up here was futile.

It made more sense to check the party going on down. There was a higher possibility of finding him there than here.

Taking in a deep breath, I let out a wearisome sigh and continue downstairs on my search.

The closer I approached the party hall downstairs the louder and more pathetic the noise got. Taking a few steps down the last flight of stairs I could only behold the awfully lamentable scenery.
It was already getting dark outside but it was a totally different atmosphere inside. Party lights hit through every corner with a lot of inviting sounds of glasses clanking and joyful chatter with a lot of gleaming faces standing out

It was terrible....

Cacophonies of varying music sounds engaged a vast amount of serenaded people while a fraction of them sat in distinguished lounges and had a paid view of pole strippers dancing passionately as they viewers filled their bellies with more and more bottles of beer and plagued the lounge with their laughter.

Every side of the party had its own feature of madness. Nevertheless my sights were on Elliot and nothing else.

The jovial mood and ecstacy in the hall wasn't contagious to me whilst I calmly darted through the cluster of people extending my neck upwards still in search for him.

I was totally unfazed by the influence of the party.

"Finally." After a successful graze through, I paused to rearrange my shirt after getting it smudged by the 'uncultured individuals'. Stretching out my arms one at a time to adjust my sleeves, I continued on my quest.

Still focusing on my sleeves while walking. I didn't put in my spatial awareness. In a brief moment, I felt my body jar against a stranger

"Excuse you.." I tilted my body quickly to avoid another impact of the collision with the stranger who crossed my walking path. Unbothered to check who I hit, something else hit me...it wasn't fists but his words.

"Maybe if you'd pay attention more you slug...keep walking shitface"

I was brewing with shock, not bothered about the degratory comments by the stranger, but the manner and tone at which he said it. There was something about it that was familiar.

The words drew my attention to the stranger causing me to swiftly change course an turn around to meet my suspicion.

My eyes widened at the sight of the "familiar" braids belonging to the stranger as he continued walking not minding the previous encounter

It was Elliot...

"It can't be.." brimming with agitation...I quickened my pace towards Elliot as he subtly let out his claws to attack him while it was lonely.

Acting within a split second after I engaged my wolf, a wave of rational thinking hit me causing me to realise a very crucial detail.

"I didn't catch his scent.."
In a flash before I advanced any further, I paused for a moment and tried to keep my calm.

I considered it unwise to set out on an attack on him now that a dangerous uncertainty has been exposed.
"How can it be...I should be able to get home scent...even from a distance."

Placing my hand on my chin with repetitive stroking ,I watched as Elliot kept on walking till he reached the main party lounge. I tried studying his actions and movements to get a clue on how to attack.

Then it dawned on me, he was alone. He wasn't with his Latisha bride.

"I have to find her." Without wasting any time I walked down to the party.

Vanessa, the Latisha bride earlier with Elliot was now found in an obscure section of the party with her back on the wall where she squiggled a stick of used cigarette while she let out a puff.

"I need you to do something for me....in exchange of anything....are you up for it?"
She had a dazzling look for a random Latisha dancer, moderately endowed but a tad bit smaller than the other ladies in the room.

Her eyes beamed with pale green complementing her cream white hair engulfing her shoulders. Her gaze was mystical....but not like Lena's.

"Fine...but you'll have to promise to get me out this inn about of this business."
"You have my word....I need you to lace Elliotts drink...no questions asked." I looked at her expecting a shift in her emotions but all she did was give a blank nod of affirmation as she pulled out another rizzler stick from the packet she was holding.

"You'll know the jobs done if you see another lady with Elliot clothes..and then, your side of the deal will be left."

"It's a deal."

I walk pass her acting like we didn't have any form of conversation and stood in a distance where I could observe Elliot meeting her and lifting her with his hands carrying her up to his room.

I had no other choice but to wait for the deed to be done. Shuffling back into the ongoing party, I made myself to the bar lounge to drink and observe for the signal.

It could take forever before I got what I wanted. I sat on the large sofa softly tapping my shoe sole repeatedly on the floor as I mustered patience.

"A word sir...if you may." I could sense it was Donovan. His face partially enclosed with the scarf covering couldn't hide the scent or the voice from me.

"What the hell are you doing in here?" I said dropping my drink and standing to address him.
"I told you to watch the horses did i not?"

"Yes your majesty but...."

I grew more impatient But what Donovan?"

Donovan's countenance slowly changed to a fearful one

"The horses sir...someone broke their legs.. they can't run. I think someone got to them first."
