Chapter 175
Chapter 175
Madelyn’s POV
After a solid two-day trip on the road, the cars finally pulled into the kingdom, nd I sighed in relief. I was already so tired, and I almost couldn’t feel my legs from being in one place.
The doors opened, and I stepped out. The whole place was exactly as I remembered it; nothing seemed to have changed. I took in the fresh air. I wasn’t really settled when the palace doors opened and Nyx stepped out, panting heavily, like someone who had gone on a marathon race.
My lips curved into a smile as my eyes landed on the love of my life. I threw caution to the wind as I ran towards him and jumped on him, tears pooling in my eyes. I had missed him so badly.
He caught me, and we stayed that way as I nuzzled my face into his neck, sniffing in that scent that I had been starved of.
“Maddie,” he muttered gently, as we broke the hug, “Why didn’t you tell me you were coming?”
“Shhhhhhh,” I placed a finger on his lips, to shut him up for the meantime, as I slammed my lips on his, with a hunger and paasion so fierce, I feared I would swallow his lips, he responded with the same pace, his hands grabbing my ass, as he pulled mr closer, covering every space, between us.
We broke the kiss, only when we were both out of breath, and panting heavily, our lips were swollen and red.
“I missed you,” he whispered into my ear.
“I know,” I placed my head on his chest.
“Ehm, ehm,” someone cleared their throat, and I turned back to meet Crter standing there, his arms wide open. I pulled away from Nyx, and Carter pulled me into a hug.
“How’ve you been?” he asked softly, as he took my appearance in. I had lost a significant amount of weight; that much was obvious.
“I’ve been alive, Carter, thank you. I trust you’ve been good?” I euyed him, and he nodded with a smile.
“Of course, Madelyn,”
“Come on,” Nyx pulled my hand gently, “You need to frehen up,”
“No,” I shook my head slowly, “First things first, I need to see my bundle of joy,”
He furrowed his brows at me, “ I thought I was your bundle of joy.”
“Stop being a kid, Nyx,” I waved my hand dismissively, and he chuckled and swept me off my feet.
“Put me down, you brute,” I hit his chest playfully, and he burst out laughing.
He dropped me at the door of the nursery, and the guards at the door bowed their heads immediately, though I could see that they were secretly beaming with smiles. I pushed the door, and it creaked open as I stepped in.
Zimora sprang up to her feet immediately, “Your highness,” she squealed, and engulfed me in a tight embrace. I patted her back gently, then pulled back to assess her appearance.
“You look good,” I complimented, and I could swear I heard something like a snort from Nyx, who was beside me.
I arched my brows at him but didn’t say a word as I approached the cot, and there he was, my prince, my baby, my joy.
He was still asleep, but I picked him up regardless. He had added a lot of weight, and his cheeks were now so chubby.
It made me wonder what exactly it was Zimora was feeding my baby. I placed a kiss on his forehead, as tears trickled down my cheeks.
“I’ve missed you,” I spoke softly, and hugged him to my chest.
“Alright, let the poor boy sleep now,” Nyx snorted, and I rolled my eyes at him.
I placed Elio back in his cot, and before I could say Jack, Nyx grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the nursery.
<
I stared at my reflection in the mirror, and was amazed by the young lady that stared back at me. In just two days, the change was evident, my cheeks had become rosy once again, and I no longer felt as light as I did back at Ravenclaw pack. Truly, there was no place like home.
Nyx had me locked up in the room with him, we spent most of the hours cuddling nd talking, while he stuffed me with food. He had complained bitterly about how skinny I was.
I didn’t even get to meet Usurla, whom I was so anxious to meet.
It was the third day since I returned, and it was Elio’s birthday and crowning ceremony tonight; honestly, I couldn’t be more excited.
I was bubbling inside me; I was scared I might end up exploding. I adjusted the high-slit red velvet gown that clung to my body tightly like a second skin, making all my curves more prominent.
My hair was pulled up into a messy bun, and my jewelry was all silver, with matching shoes and a clutch purse.
Nyx had outdone himself this time around, as he single-handedly picked out everything I was putting on.
“You look beautiful,” he complimented, as he stepped out of the bathroom..
“Thank you,” I smiled and kissed his lips lightly. I took one last glance at the mirror to make sure my makeup was well done.
“I’ll go see to it that Elio is ready for his big day,” I muttered and walked out of the room.
I opened the door of the nursery, and it was empty. Zimora was nowhere to be found. I approached the cot, and my baby wasn’t there either.
“Zimora,” I sent a mindlink, “Come to the nursery now.”
“Yes, your highness, “ she responded almost immediately. The door opened a few minutes later, and she stepped in a beautiful black dress, but with no Elio.
“Where’s my son?”
She arched her brows at me, and my heart skipped a beat, “I came in this morning and Elio wasn’t here, I thought he was with you or something.” She spoke slowly, and my heart beat accelerated, as realization dawned on me. My hands started trembling on their own, as my palm became sweaty.
“Elio wasn’t with me, Zi.”
I whispered, barely audible, and her eyes widened. She rushed out of the room and returned later, shaking her head.
I guessed she went to ask the guards.
I crashed on the floor, and ran my hand through my hair, as tears flowed down my cheek, ruining my makeup, but I really couldn’t care less at this point.
The door opened, and Nyx rushed in almost immediately, as the guards had already informed.
His eyes darted from me to Zimora and back. My chest tightened, and I couldn’t even breathe freely.
“Babe,” he called calmly, and pulled me up into his arms.
“Nyx,” I sobbed into his chest, as he held me in his arms, “Elio is missing.” My face was flooded with tears.
