Hunter's type
“What is the relationship between Hunter and Melody?”
Rebecca choked on her food and went into a coughing fit, “thanks” she wheezed out when Morgan handed her a glass of cold water. "Shit” Rebecca cursed as she slapped her hand against her chest after taking the water and then proceeded to start eating without replying to his question.
“You still haven't answered my question”
Rebecca looked up and blinked innocently, “what question?” She asked.
Morgan's lips curl up with a tiny smirk, “don't think I haven't noticed it”
Rebecca blinked again, “noticed what?”
Morgan frowned at her but went on to explain," I have seen the way Hunter looks at Melody. I didn't notice at first because I thought she was maybe a family friend or something. I first began to notice that Hunter might like her way more than just a family friend when I saw the both of them in the kitchen. The way he looks at her, the way he tries to get into her space while also trying hard not to, the way he wants to touch her but ends up cleaning his fists at the end. She is exactly his type of woman. Blonde with green eyes, exactly like Eleanor. He looks at her exactly the way Harrison looks at you, like Melody is his mate”
Rebecca went cold at his last word about Melody being Hunter's mate. Though, it won't be a bad thing if Morgan knew, but Hunter was not ready to release the news and Melody was also not ready for any form of relationship.
“But when I thought about it,” Morgan continued," I figured out that maybe he just likes her very much. She can't be his mate because she is human, and he is holding back because he knows that he can't be with a human. A human cannot be his Luna. I went to check the last time a werewolf was mated to a human, and I couldn't find any books about a werewolf having a human as mate”
Rebecca's shoulders sagged in relief, but Morgan's was long gone in his explanation to notice. She thanked the moon goddess that he did not have the right books about humans and Werewolves being mated at his disposal. Morgan was her best friend and among all her friends, he was the closest one, and she hated lying to him, but she couldn't tell him about Hunter and Melody. It wasn't in her place to do so, especially as Melody had no idea about it.
“Why would you even think that Melody is his mate?” She wanted to know. Maybe she would tell Hunter about it so that he would mind the way he behaves around Melody when other people were around.
Morgan gave a careless shrug, “because of the way he looks at her, takes care of her and constantly tries to talk to her. Melody is the shy type, but I can also see that she likes Hunter. Ask yourself why I haven't made any moves on Melody”
“ Why?” She found herself asking, even if she already had her answer.
“Because she likes Hunter, but I don't think they can be together”
Rebecca sighed and used her hand to rub her forehead. She had never noticed the way Melody looked at Hunter, but an outsider had. Maybe she could get away with taking Melody to the club. All she has to do is tell Hunter about Melody having a huge crush on him, and possibly his mind will be off her for a while and eventually, he will forget. She doubted it would work, but it was worth the try.
“Does Melody have a family?”
Rebecca rolled her eyes at him but tensed up at the same time, “why are you suddenly interested in Melody's business?”
Morgan gave a careless shrug," I have always been interested but never asked. I have not seen anyone come around to look for her or ever heard her talking about her family, and I sense that there is something more that's wrong with her”
Rebecca tensed up all the more. She has forgotten how much of her observant person Morgan was. She should have minded the way she brought Melody around him.
“I feel like she doesn't like people close to her because I have seen her flinch countless times and move away from people when she thinks no one is watching. I feel like she has been through something that made her like that. She is traumatized and has had bad experiences before. Maybe she has been maltreated by someone before”
'Oh shit' Rebecca cursed inside her head.
“ Well,” she started, “I haven't noticed such before” she denied and because she knew that Morgan knew her well enough to know when she was lying, she refused to meet his eyes, indirectly giving herself away.
Morgan said nothing after that. He drummed his finger on the table instead as she watched her, making Rebecca squirm uncomfortably in her seat.
“Stop looking at me like that” Rebecca huffed in irritation when she got tired of Morgan's stare, “can we talk about something else that doesn't have to do with Melody?”
Morgan shrugged as he relaxed back on his chair, "Okay"
“Who the hell is that?” Rebecca grumbled under her breath as she reached for her ringing phone. She prepared herself for the news of who drugged Melody when she saw the caller's name, “hello? What did you find?”
“Nothing”
Rebecca's breath caught in her throat as she sat up on her seat," what do you mean by nothing?”
“I could not find anything because the CCTV has been hacker and everything was wiped off from it”
" Oh shit” Rebecca gripped the phone tightly as she met Morgan's curious eyes, “was it wiped today or is it that the camera was not working”
“ It was wiped out today, just before you called me. I think whoever drugged this friend of yours did it. They don't want to be found out. I think they know you are onto them”
