Chapter 32 Betrayal Unveiled

Chapter 32 Betrayal Unveiled
As Sharon retreated from the shaman's bloody room, her heart raced. She felt cold as she saw the word "TRAITOR" carved on the wall. The letter, the shaman's murder, and the enigmatic stranger that had disappeared into the night were all things she needed to inform Rever about.

As she rushed down the hallway with the letter in her shaking hands, the packhouse was unnaturally silent. She was about to round the corner when she heard a voice she recognized.

Lasmay, you assured me of outcomes. I've granted you all of your requests.

Sharon's blood turned to ice as she froze. Pier's voice was heard. However, it was coming from the opposite side of the wall and he wasn't present. She strained to hear, pressing herself against the cold stone.

A furious reply came from another voice: "You'll get your results." Lasmay. However, you must exercise patience. Sharon is already doubting her history. She will guide us to our destination.

Sharon's breathing became labored. Lasmay? Her best friend? Betrayal was like fire in her chest. She tightened her fists, resisting the want to barge in and face her at that very moment.

Pier remarked icily, "Lasmay, the prophecy doesn't wait." "Rever has more time to find the truth the longer we waste time. She is essential to me. alive. Remember that.

Lasmay yelled, "I've taken care of everything so far." But Rever is beginning to suspect something. You'll have to deal with him if you want me to keep giving you information.

"Give that to me," Pier said gloomily. "All you have to do is make sure Sharon remains hidden long enough so I can take her."

Suddenly the talk came to an end, and Sharon heard footsteps coming. As Lasmay went by with a cold, calculating gaze, she slipped into a nearby nook, her heart pounding. Sharon's head spinning, she ran in the opposite direction as soon as the hallway was clear. Not only did Lasmay's betrayal damage her trust, but it also directly endangered her life.

"Lasmay? Collaborating with Pier? As Sharon repeated what she had heard, Rever's voice was low and lethal. Now they were in his office, with guards outside and the door bolted.

Sharon's hands were still shaking as she nodded. "Everything was heard by me. She has been giving him information about the prophecy and about me. She has been deceiving us all along, Rever.

Rever's fists clenched at his sides as his gaze darkened. "This will be paid for by her."

Sharon's voice faltered as she replied, "We can't just confront her without proof." "She will deny it, and we will lose our only opportunity to stop Pier if he is indeed planning something."

Rever's fury was evident as he paced the room like a wolf in a cage. Then we see her doing it. We set up a trap.

Sharon felt a knot in her stomach. She felt ill at the idea of confronting Lasmay after realizing what she had done. However, there was no alternative. "What am I supposed to do?"

Rever's gait slowed as he turned to face her, his face softening. Keep out of sight. She'll go directly to Pier if she thinks you know anything. Let me take care of this.

With firmness, Sharon declared, "I'm not hiding." "Rever, this is about me. I am entitled to defend myself.

With a groan, he combed through his hair. "All right. But keep your distance. I can't let you go.

As night fell, the anxiety in the packhouse was palpable. As Rever planned the trap, Sharon remained at his side. Lasmay was called into the war room to discuss Pier's most recent action. To make sure she couldn't escape, Rever had placed guards at each exit.

Her face was composed, almost arrogant, as Lasmay walked in. "Alpha, you wanted to see me?"

Rever's gaze grew strained. "Lasmay, I've been hearing things. Things pertaining to your... allegiances

Pretending to be innocent, she arched an eyebrow. "I have no idea what you're discussing."

Sharon moved closer, rage vibrating in her voice. "Stop lying. I overheard you conversing with Pier. I am aware of your actions.

Although Lasmay's gaze wavered, she remained composed. "You've gone through a lot, Sharon. Perhaps you didn't understand—

"Don't," yelled Sharon. "Don't act as though you are interested in me. You have been betraying me to the adversary.

With a steely voice, Rever stepped forward. "Why, Lasmay? Why would you betray us after everything this pack has done for you?

At last, Lasmay's façade broke. A sour smirk curved her lips. "Don't you think you're so morally upright? Always the hero, always in charge. However, you have no idea what it's like to have nothing and to be helpless.

"So you took Pier's side?" The reverend demanded. "For what purpose? Strength? "Retaliation?"

"Survival," spit out Lasmay. "Pier gave me an escape route. A method to be more than your submissive little soldier. And I'm willing to sacrifice one female in order to save myself.

Sharon became enraged. "You're repulsive. You believe that you would become stronger if you betray everyone who trusted you? It simply turns you into a coward.

Lasmay's enraged eyes flared. "Little girl, you don't know anything about me. You are merely a pawn in a game that is beyond your comprehension.

With his hand closing around Lasmay's throat, Rever lunged. "This is over now."

Lasmay, however, was quicker than she appeared. She pulled a hidden sword from her belt and spun away from him. The two clashed, their moves a blur of precision and rage, and the room exploded into mayhem.

Sharon's heart was in her throat as she stared in horror. Despite Rever's strength, Lasmay battled as if he had nothing left to lose. It appeared for a second that she might win.

"Watch out, Rever!" As Lasmay aimed a slash to his side, Sharon yelled. He swerved barely in time, twisting his arm viciously to disarm her. Lasmay continued even after the blade clattered to the ground. He staggered back as she kicked him in the chest.

Lasmay ran for the closest escape before Rever could recover. Lasmay snarled and pushed Sharon away as she tried to block her progress.

She growled, her eyes meeting Sharon's, "This isn't over." "Pier is an expert in everything. He is aware of your identity. He will also come get you.

She then vanished into the darkness, leaving a trail of mayhem in her wake.

With a worried expression on his face, Rever dragged Sharon to her feet. "Are you in pain?"

Her whole body was shaking, but she shook her head. She is no longer there. Pier is now aware of everything.

Rever's mouth clenched. "We'll handle him. I promise not to let him kidnap you, Sharon.

But Sharon could see the uncertainty in his eyes even as he spoke. The stakes had never been higher, and the fight was far from done.
