Chapter 151 Chapter 151
WHEN SHE COMES
TIANA’S POV
“Tiana!”
My mother’s voice echoed from the hallway, alongside her footsteps, interrupting our quite conversation.
Before I could even respond, the door flung open with a force that made my heart skipped a beat.
Mother walked in with a stern face, holding a parchment tightly in her hand. Her eyes scanned the room, landing on me, Constance, and Seraphina, before returning to me again.
My stomach twisted instantly. My mother rarely looked this serious unless something was very wrong.
“Mother,” I said softly, trying to keep my voice steady despite the rising panic. “What’s going on?”
She walked straight to me and held out the parchment. “Seraphina brought this to me a few minutes ago. She said she found it near the garden and thought I should see it immediately.”
I glanced at Seraphina who stood quietly near the window, with a calm and concerned expression, but something in her eyes made my skin prickle. She had given the letter to my mother?
What could be the content?
I took the parchment with trembling hands and opened it. Surprisingly, the handwriting was the same as the one I had received the day before. And the content was the same warning.
"The mark is not from the brothers. Someone close to you is hiding the truth. Be careful who you trust. The danger is already inside the palace.”
My heart sank instantly when I finished reading. I quickly folded the letter, and turned my gaze toward my mother.
“Mother, I…” I started, but the words stuck in my throat.
My mother frowned as she watched my expression. "That part about the mark..." she said slowly.
"What does it mean?"
I tightened my fingers around the parchment, and forced a laugh that sounded unconvincing even to my own ears.
"I... I don't really know. Whoever keeps sending these letters has been writing strange things for days now. Maybe they're simply trying to frighten me."
My mother's expression didn't soften as I expected. "You truly don't know what they're referring to?"
I shook my head. "No... Mother."
My mother stepped closer and gently touched my arm, her warmth a stark contrast to the chill spreading through me.
"Tiana, talk to me. As your mother and as Luna, I need to know what is happening. You’ve been distant lately. And your brothers have been acting strangely protective. And now this letter… Is someone threatening you? Is there something you’re not telling me?”
Her voice was full of love and worry. It made my eyes sting with tears. I wanted nothing more than to tell her everything at that moment, but the stranger’s warning echoed in my head again, stopping me abruptly.
Telling them now could definitely make things worse.
I turned my gaze to Seraphina. She was watching me with soft, caring eyes, but I could not shake the growing suspicion. Why had she given this letter to my mother? Was she trying to help… or was she part of whatever was happening?
“Mother, I’m fine,” I said, forcing the words out. “There have been some… strange things, but my brothers are protecting me. I don’t want you to worry.”
My mother cupped my face with both hands, her eyes searching mine.
“You are my only daughter. I carried you for months, I raised you through every trial. I know when you are hiding pain, when fear lingers behind your smiles. If someone is threatening you, if someone has done something to harm you, you must tell me. I am Luna. I have power and allies too. I can protect you.”
Tears slipped down my cheeks when my mother finished speaking. The weight of everything was weighing down on me.
“I’m scared, Mother,” I whispered. “I don’t know who to trust completely right now. But I’m trying to figure it out. Please… give me a little time.”
She pulled me into a tight hug, holding me like she used to when I was a child. “I love you, Tiana. No matter what happens, I am your mother. I will always stand by you. But promise me you will not face this danger alone.”
“I promise,” I muttered.
When my mother finally pulled away, she wiped the tears from my cheeks with her thumbs, gave me one last searching look, and nodded reluctantly.
"And there's something else." She glanced toward the door, and lowered her voice. "Those three boys adore you."
Heat immediately rushed to my face as I blurted. "Mother..."
"No, listen to me." Her tone became gentle. "Affection is one thing. Losing control is another."
"If any one of them ever tries to become... more intimate with you than he should..." she said carefully, "...I want you to tell me immediately."
"But mother..."
"I'm serious, Tiana." She interrupted with a stern face. "Don't ever feel pressured because they're Alpha heirs. Don't let any of them touch you in ways that make you uncomfortable. And certainly don't allow any of them to mark you."
I couldn't say a word anymore, I just kept staring at her.
Mother sighed and continued. "I am the Luna of this pack, and I'm bonded with their father. I don't want anything that would ruin this relationship. I hope you understand."
"Yes, mother." I replied, but my voice was more like a whisper.
“I’ll give you time, but not forever. I’m here when you’re ready.” With that, she turned and left the chamber.
The moment the door closed, I spun around, fire surging in my veins. “Seraphina, we need to talk—”
But the room was emptier than I expected. Seraphina was nowhere in sight.
I turned to Constance, my heart pounding. “Where did she go? I was going to confront her right here.”
Constance blinked, looking slightly surprised by my sudden outburst.
“She slipped out while you were hugging your mother. She said she’d be back soon, something about checking on a few things in the garden where she found the letter. Why? Is everything okay, Tiana?”
I clenched my fist tightly as different thoughts entered my mind instantly. What the hell was Seraphina trying to do? Shouldn't she have given the letter to me after finding it?
Without a second thought, I sprung up from the chair and stormed out of my chamber, slamming the heavy door behind me.
