SERAPHINA’S POV

I sat quietly in my chamber, staring blankly at the wall. I had not stepped out since the rogues were caught.

My body felt heavy. My mind would not rest. Everything had gone wrong, and I could not find the strength to face anyone.

Since that night, I had refused to meet anyone. I had refused to eat.

The only person I wanted to see right now was my friend Lila. She was the only one who understood the plan. The only one who knew how much I had sacrificed to bring Tiana down.

Everything was ruined.

All the plans we made had failed.

Why was Tiana so lucky? Why didn’t things ever go my way?

I kept thinking about the rogues. If they opened their mouths and confessed that I was behind the attack, then my life was finished.

Ethan and his brothers would never forgive me.

The pack would turn against me. Alpha Gabriel would punish me without mercy. I would lose everything I had worked so hard to build.

A soft knock sounded on the door.

“I don’t want to see anyone!” I yelled. “Leave me alone!”

“It’s me, Lila,” a calm voice said from the other side. “Open up.”

I sprang up from the chair and hurried to the door. I opened it quickly. Lila stood there with her usual calm face.

I dragged her inside and shut the door immediately.

“I’m sure you heard what happened,” I said, my voice shaking with anger. “Are you happy now?”

Lila touched my arm gently, trying to calm me down. “Whatever happened doesn’t matter. What’s more important is that we got the video.”

She brought out her phone and showed it to me. I looked at the screen.

The video showed the rogues touching Tiana, their hands on her body, her dress torn open. For a second, I felt a rush of joy. But then I watched more carefully, and what I saw next made my heart twist in anger again.

Lila was definitely testing my patience, and I was losing my mind.

“What am I supposed to do with this?” I asked, glaring at her.

“Isn’t this what we wanted?” Lila said, showing the video again. “Look at the way they’re touching her.”

“Don’t tell me you’re blind, Lila,” I snapped. “Can’t you see what I’m seeing? She is fighting them off! She is supposed to submit to them. She is supposed to let them have her. But take a look again. What does this prove? If this video goes out there, people will only pity her. And that is not what I want!”

Lila took a look again, then gulped down and pressed her lips tightly together. She must have understood what I meant.

“I’m sorry,” she finally said.

However, sorry was the last thing I wanted to hear at this moment. I turned to her sharply.

“Sorry won’t fix this, Lila. Right now, I am on the edge of getting exposed.”

Lila shook her head. “Tiana was only rescued. She doesn’t know anything about the attack.”

“What are you saying?” I asked in shock. “Do you even know what is going on here?”

“What is going on? Tiana was rescued, and...”

“The rogues were arrested,” I concluded, cutting her off.

Lila’s eyes widened in shock. “What?”

“You heard me!” I yelled. “In fact, I don’t even think there is any point talking to you. I need to know what is going on out there. But how?”

I sat down on the nearest chair and began to think about it for a moment. Then suddenly, an idea came into my head, softening my anger for a while.

I remembered the guards’ uniforms we had sewn for the rogues a few days ago. It was what they used to get entry into the hall without anyone suspecting them.

Now I could use one and disguise myself. I could go out there and get information. I needed to know where I stood.

Without a second thought, I hurried to the place where the uniforms were kept. I picked one, dressed up quickly, and looked at myself in the mirror.

I looked like a palace guard, simple, unnoticed, and safe.

When I returned to the living room, I found Lila sitting motionless on the chair, staring blankly at the wall.

I ignored her and headed toward the door. As soon as I opened it, my heart sank instantly.

In front me was none other than Ezekiel, standing in the hall away and with Alpha Lucas.

I froze in shock.

I had never met Lucas in the hall last night. I have been wanting to meet him, and that's more reason why I wanted to see Lila.

What were they talking about? Did they know something? Were they already connecting me to the plan?

My hands began to shake violently as I took a step back into my chamber
