Chapter 27 Chapter 9.3
I'm already outside the company, waiting for the driver to take me home. I looked at Desmond's car that stopped in front of me. His window went down, so I peeked at him.
"Get in, let's go home together." I raised an eyebrow at what he said. I looked around. There were still many employees who were just going home, what if someone saw the two of us?
"You go home first, I'm still waiting for your mom's driver." I answered him.
"He's not coming anymore because I told him I'll take you home. Get in if you don't want anyone to see you." My teeth gritted in annoyance at him. I looked around once more. When I made sure that no one was watching me, I entered the car.
Desmond's smile was teasing, so I rolled my eyes at him.
"Shouldn't you be proud to tell them that I'm your husband?" I raised an eyebrow at him. What reason do I have to be proud that he's my husband?
"Maybe if I was one of the women who likes you, I might have shouted to the whole world that you're my husband, but I'm not. I have no intention of telling them about our relationship. We're just together for our future child." I said sarcastically, but Desmond was just smiling at me. Don't smile. I said don't smile! I averted my gaze because in the days that Desmond has been taking care of me, my heart has been going wild.
While we were on our way home, Desmond handed me two plane tickets. I looked at him in wonder.
"I booked a plane ticket to South Korea, for Macie and me, but I'll just take you. I've already paid for everything, and they don't have refund rules. Can you come with me? I want to get to know you, Heaven. I want to make up for what I did to you. I'm the father of our future child, and I've decided to give him a complete family. I won't force you to love me. Don't worry, and I won't force myself to love you either. I want to correct my mistakes. Can we start over?" he said seriously and sincerely. I looked at the plane ticket.
What should I do? I didn't want us to get close because I knew who he would still choose in the end.
I looked at Desmond's hand when he held one of my hands.
"I hope you agree, let's start over. Let's do this for our future child. All I want is for us to get along for our future child." I thought about it. It's important for the two of us to get along so we won't always be fighting in front of the child. I sighed and then nodded. There's probably nothing wrong if we try to make our relationship better, not because we love each other, but for the child.
"Okay, if that's what you want." I answered.
Before the day of our flight came, we went shopping first because it's snow season in South Korea. He was the one who chose the thick jackets, he even put them on me to make sure they fit me. I was secretly smiling while he was busy choosing. I was just sitting on the sofa because he didn't want me to get tired.
In the past few days, Desmond has been caring for me because he wants to take care of our future child. I should also know my place because he's only doing this for our future child.
When we finished shopping, we went home. When we got home, he cooked our dinner again. I was just watching him while he was cooking. I understand now why many people like Desmond now. What woman wouldn't fall for him?
I don't have time for relationships because I'm focused on my family. From high school to college, I didn't have a relationship because my goal was to graduate and give my family a good life. I closed my heart and didn't let any men into my life. What if Desmond slowly opens my heart? How will I stop myself?
I averted my gaze from Desmond when he looked at me. He was holding a ladle and then approached me.
"Taste it if it's okay for your taste." I looked at him, he was trying to put the spoon with soup in my mouth, but I took it from him. I tasted what he cooked, when the taste was okay for me, I nodded at him.
"Is the taste okay? Should I add more sourness and saltiness?" he asked.
"No, the taste is okay for me." I answered. He turned off the gas stove and then served the food. He often cooks sour dishes because that's what my stomach accepts.
I smiled when we started eating. It seems my baby likes everything his dad cooks.
When we finished eating, we went into our rooms. I fell asleep immediately because I ate a lot. When midnight came, I felt hungry, so I went downstairs. I looked for fruit in the fridge, but what I wanted wasn't there.
Where will I get spanish plum at this hour? I don't think it's the season for it to bear fruit yet. I just sighed and then closed the fridge again.
"Do you want to eat something?" I looked back in surprise. I saw Desmond, who was still sleepy, looking at me.
"Why are you still awake?" I asked him. I heard you open the door, so I followed you. Are you hungry again?" he asked hoarsely. I shook my head. He won't find spanish plum now because it's not its season.
"I was just looking for something I can eat, but I don't want what's in the fridge."
"What are you looking for? I'll try to find it." I shook my head because he won't find anything at this hour. The supermarkets are also closed.
"It's nothing, it's not its season to bear fruit now."
"Just tell me what food is that."
"Go back to your room, you won't find anything now." I said and was about to pass him when he asked me again.
"I won't sleep until you tell me what you want. I'll try to find it." I just rolled my eyes because he's so persistent.
"Spanish plum, do you know that?" he frowned as if he had just heard of it. People like him who are rich are not familiar with those kinds of fruits. He took out his cellphone and seemed to be searching for it.
"Is this it?" he asked when he saw what it looked like on google. I just nodded. "Wait for me, I'll try to find it." He left quickly. I was about to stop him because it was early morning, but he quickly went out.
Will he still find an open supermarket now?
