Chapter 25 Chapter 9.1
I find Desmond’s behavior unusual, I’m not used to him speaking to me in such a gentle tone. I don't want to be a rebound, I'm not a heart healer to help him forget.
He's calling me again, but I'm not going. He's too hasty in making decisions. He wants to forget his girlfriend, but it's not that easy to forget. I can't help but get annoyed.
"Miss Rosales," I frowned when I heard his voice. Don't tell me he came here to me? I didn't look at him, I pretended I didn't hear him. How many times do I have to tell him not to talk to me and approach me when many people see us?
"Heaven Rosales, can't you hear me?" he called me again. My grip on my mouse tightened.
"Heaven, Sir Desmond is calling you." My seatmate also said to me, but I still didn't look at him. I was just surprised when someone held my hand. I looked at Desmond, who was frowning at me.
"Can't you hear me?" he asked. I closed my eyes tightly.
"Are you calling me?" I said pretending. His jaw tightened.
"Follow me, or I'll transfer you to another working station." He threatened. I smirked, wouldn't it be more favorable for me if I moved away from his office? He brought his mouth closer to my ear. "I'll transfer you to my office so I don't have to call you every day." He added, which widened my eyes. Was he serious?
Before I could speak, he pulled me away. I just followed because I didn't want to make a scene in front of his employees. When we got to his office, I removed his hand from me.
"What's your problem? You already have two secretaries, why do you still need to call me?" I said annoyedly to him.
"Can't I call my wife?"
"Your wife?! We're just married on paper, Mr. Velasquez. Don't force yourself to forget your girlfriend because it's not that easy to forget! Don't turn your attention to me because forgetting someone you loved so much isn't magic! I don't have magic or the power to erase the woman you love from your heart, so can you?! Don't bother me, don't talk to me as if you love me. It's annoying, you know that?!" I shouted at him. He became silent again. His face became serious again, as if he had woken up from his sleep.
"Is that what you feel?"
"What else do you think?! Don't force yourself to forget her, and don't ever teach yourself to love me just to forget her! Don't make me a replacement for her. Let your heart and mind forget her on their own. Don't ever play with my heart, Desmond. Yes, I willingly gave myself to you last night because I felt so sorry for you, because I didn't know what to do to calm you down. For many years, you've only loved Macie. If you want to forget her, do it alone. Don't try to turn your love for her to another woman. Let your heart heal on its own. Because if you force yourself to be with me, if you force yourself to turn your attention to me, I might be the one you hurt." I said to him at length. He sighed and then nodded.
"I'm sorry, Heaven. Don't worry, I'll remember what you said." He answered gently. I let out a deep sigh.
"What do you need?" I changed the subject because he's been calling me since earlier.
He scratched the back of his neck as if he was embarrassed. Does he know how to be embarrassed? That's not in his vocabulary.
"I just want your coffee." He answered.
"Wait, I'll make it." I answered and was about to leave when he spoke again.
"You don't need to go out, I already bought the things here." He said, so I looked at him. He pointed to his small pantry. I approached there to make his coffee. He also has cookies and bread here.
When I finished making it, I gave it to him.
"Do you need anything else?" I asked.
"Nothing," he answered. "By the way, eat lunch here. I bought food for us." I raised an eyebrow at him.
"No, I'll just eat in the canteen." I answered. When someone knocked on the door, we both looked there. Mommy Shiermy was looking at us in surprise.
"Heaven, you're here." She said as if she wasn't used to seeing me with Desmond.
"I'm trying to get her to eat lunch here in my office, but she's refusing." Desmond complained, so I looked at him in disbelief. Why did he need to complain?
I looked at Mommy Shiermy, and she was already smiling at us. There she goes again, thinking that his son and I are getting along.
"Is your supervisor giving you a lot of work so you can't eat lunch? Should I call and talk to her?" I quickly shook my head.
"She's not making it hard for me, Mom. You know, Mom, that Desmond and I don't like each other, and I have no intention of getting along with him. It's better if we're clear about that here."
"That's why I am trying my best to get to know her, Mom." Desmond interjected, so I looked at him annoyedly. He just shrugged. His mommy was smiling at us.
"Why don't you get to know him, Heaven?" I raised an eyebrow at what Mommy Shiemry said. Why would I? Do they want me to heal their son's wounded heart? Mommy Shiermy approached me. She held my hand and then pulled me away from Desmond.
"Heaven, dear, it seems Desmond is trying to take care of you and your future child. When he asks you to eat together, can you please give him a chance? We don't know, maybe this is the way for you to get to know each other. It seems he wants to take responsibility for you and your future child. I know you don't like my son, but please help him forget Macie." My lips parted at Mommy Shiermy's plea. Was she serious?
"If ever your relationship doesn't work out, don't worry. I'll help you when you want to separate from my son. For now, try to have a good relationship, and if nothing happens, then I'll just accept it." She added. Was she making me feel guilty? I just nodded because she was the one who said that she would help me file for divorce if it didn't work out.
