Chapter 122 Chapter 41.2

Chapter 122 Chapter 41.2
For the past several days, Desmond had been coming home with us, he was sleeping at the house too, but Daryl still didn't want to sleep beside him, so I stayed in the middle, with Desmond on one side and Daryl on the other.
When we got home, I set Daryl down in his play area. Desmond followed him. Every time we came home, Desmond devoted all his time to playing with Daryl. He wanted so badly to carry our son. We were also teaching Daryl to call Desmond Daddy, but Daryl still refused.
I knew the day would come when he would finally adjust, so we never forced him.
I went upstairs to change in our bedroom while Desmond only took off his suit before heading straight to play with Daryl. After changing, I simply sat on the sofa, watching the two of them.
"Daddy," Daryl softly said. I immediately sat up straight when I heard him. Desmond looked at me too, the expression on his face was as if he had just won the lottery.
"Did you hear that? I heard him correctly, didn't I? I'm not hallucinating, right? He just called me Daddy?" The excitement and happiness in Desmond's voice were obvious. I couldn't help smiling at him too.
"Daddy, give me that," our son said, pointing at one of his toys that was closer to Desmond. Desmond laughed out loud in pure happiness.
"Can you say that again, son? Were you calling me Daddy?" Desmond was so overwhelmed with joy that it looked like his heart was about to burst.
"Yes, Daddy," our son repeated. Out of sheer happiness, Desmond picked up our son, raising him high into the air with both hands while holding him. Daryl laughed happily as he was lifted up. I stood up as well, smiling as I watched the two of them.
"That's right, my son. I'm your daddy. You have no idea how happy Daddy is. Finally, you called me Daddy." He said before hugging our son. Daryl didn't cry, which probably meant he finally recognized his daddy.
"I'm so happy," Desmond said to me, his eyes already filling with tears. I walked over to them and hugged Desmond too. He couldn't stop himself from crying. I gently rubbed his back to calm him down. He took a deep breath.
"I'm so happy. It feels like my heart is being tickled. Damn," he said between sobs. I pulled away from the hug and wiped the tears from his face.
"Daddy, why are you crying?" our son asked innocently. Desmond shook his head before kissing our son's forehead.
"I'm just happy, son, because you finally know me as your daddy. I'm happy because I finally heard the word I've been waiting so long for you to call me. Daddy is just so happy, son," Desmond answered. Daryl's brows furrowed slightly.
"But if you're happy, shouldn't you be laughing instead of crying?" he asked innocently, making both Desmond and me laugh.
"He's right," I said to Desmond, making him laugh even harder.
"You're right, he is," Desmond agreed. He took a deep breath before hugging our son again. "Come here," he called to me, so I joined their embrace once more.
My heart was overflowing with happiness too. It felt like I had finally found the missing puzzle piece that completed who I was. If there was one thing I wished for, it was for our son to stay healthy and never get sick again.
We happily went up to our bedroom after dinner. Daryl was now lying between us because Desmond also wanted our son beside him. Daryl was already sleeping soundly, but Desmond and I were still awake.
He gently stroked our son's hair.
"I'm so happy today, love. It still feels like a dream, like my mind still hasn't fully processed everything that happened today. My heart is so full. You're here with me, our son is here with me, and I'm so happy that our son has finally accepted me into his life. You know, love, I'm slowly realizing that wealth, power, and material things only bring temporary happiness. Nothing can ever compare to having your own family. Only you and Daryl have ever made me this happy. Thank you so much for coming into my life. If I hurt you before, if I said so many terrible things, please forgive me." I simply smiled at him.
"Let's not think about those things anymore because I understand why you said all those hurtful words to me. I wasn't the one you loved back then, so I understand. You don't have to apologize to me. I'm the one who should apologize to you because I left, I took our son away from you, and I hid him from you. Thank you so much for not letting your love for me disappear over the past two years. Thank you for not replacing me in your heart. Because if you had forgotten me during those two years and found someone else, our son would never have had the chance to grow up with a complete family. I thought my love for you had disappeared, but it turned out it had only been buried deep inside my heart," I said in a long heartfelt confession.
He slightly lifted himself from the bed so he could reach my forehead. He kissed it, making me close my eyes.
"I love you so much, and I love our son just as much," he said sincerely, making me smile. He captured my lips one more time before the two of us finally fell asleep.
I went to sleep with a smile on my face.
The next morning, I felt incredibly light. It was as if I had finally gotten a full night's sleep. So this was what it felt like when you had no worries and no stress weighing you down. I only hoped everything would continue this way.
Daryl and I went downstairs because Desmond had already gone to the kitchen earlier. I hadn't even reached the bottom of the stairs yet when I could already smell the delicious aroma of food cooking in the kitchen.
"Our breakfast smells amazing today. What are we having?" I asked as I walked into the kitchen. I saw Desmond wearing an apron.
"You cooked?" I asked him. He smiled.
"Of course. I wanted to cook for the woman I love most in the world." I laughed at what he said. I seated Daryl beside me. Desmond took off his apron and sat across from us.
"I'll serve your food," he said before taking my plate and filling it with food.
"These recipes are Dad's specialties. Did he teach you how to cook them?" I asked. It suddenly made me miss all of Dad's cooking.
"Of course. They're the ones who know you best, so I asked them what your favorite dishes were. I also learned how to cook them so you wouldn't have to go back to your parents' house every time you craved Dad's cooking." I laughed at him. I truly appreciated all the effort he was making for me.
Everything he did made me fall even deeper in love with him, as though I were a teenager all over again.
