Chapter 69 069
Chapter 69 069
Mrs. Donovan’s family made her marry a man from the same village after she left the Hunt Family. She soon gave birth to a son.
Maybe because Mrs. Donovan’s husband was thrilled to welcome a kid, he started drinking, gambling, and even hurting his wife.
Mrs. Donovan had to work in the city all year round and send money back to raise her son to keep her husband from tormenting her. But she didn't know what her husband had taught her son. Her son didn't just not like her; he detested her and was even addicted to drugs.
"When I got home today, he saw I had money and came to take it from me...I planned to travel to the hospital to look for a job as a nursing assistant, but he took all my money.” Mrs. Donovan couldn't help but cry.
Mona could only sigh deeply when she saw Mrs. Donovan like way. "I have an apartment and need someone to take care of it right now. I wonder if you are willing.”
Mrs. Donovan was shocked, and after a while, she accepted with red eyes. "How can I not want to? Of course I will.”
Mona told her the address of the apartment and the password, and then she asked her to clean it every day.
Mrs. Donovan could also look for other occupations during this time. She said yes right away. She suddenly asked, "I heard you have two kids. Do they also live in the same apartment?”
Mona was a little shocked and shook her head. "They have other homes and don't usually live there."
Mrs. Donovan only felt better after that. She nodded, thanked Mona over and over, and then walked away with a limp.
Mona stayed where she was and watched Mrs. Donovan go. Then she swiftly went back to the ward. It didn't take long for the news about Leo to get to her. He told her the results of the investigation at night.
The individual who called Helen used a virtual number from another country. That person was exceedingly careful and didn't leave any information that could help identify him. No one could figure out who he was except for Helen.
Mona went to see Helen again for this reason. But this time, Helen was much wilder than before. She couldn't talk normally.
Mona replied to Officer Ty, "Let Helen go. She's mentally ill."
Officer Ty was shocked and knew right away what Mona meant. He thought about it for a moment before nodding and said, "You are right. We will apply for it on Helen’s behalf.”
Mona observed Leo’s car sitting outside the police station when she left. She looked at Leo without any interest. She turned her head to get in her car. But Leo was in her way.
"What do you want to do?" She turned to gaze at Leo while holding the key.
Leo moved up to her. "We still haven't come to an agreement about the kids."
Mona was already sad. "I've always said the kids are mine," she added with a sneer. “They don't have anything to do with you.”
Leo held the door of her car open with one hand and kept her in front of him. He said in a mocking tone, "Your kids have half of my genes. How can they not have anything to do with me?”
She grinned in a way that was not nice. "Why do you always think about my kids now that you have a lovely wife? I'm not like Sydney. I don't want to be misinterpreted or become a mistress.”
Leo’s face got black when he heard Sydney’s name.
Mona thought he didn't want her to talk badly of Sydney, which made her feel even more angry. So, she pushed with her heel and "accidentally" stomped on Leo’s shoes.
She climbed inside the car and slammed the driver's door shut while Leo backed away in anguish.
Mr. Jenner called just as Mona was ready to leave. "Someone who says they are the kids' grandpa came to the hospital gate with guards and gifts, maybe..."
Mona felt like she couldn't do anything. She thought Grandpa would move more slowly.
"Okay, I'll be there soon." She opened the window and glanced at Leo. "Grandpa is in the hospital to see the kids.”
Leo grimaced a little and looked at her. "Mona, you can't stay hidden forever."
"So, can I go now?"
One after the other, they drove to the hospital. As soon as they got close to the ward door, they heard Rue laughing inside. "Great grandpa, what happened after that?"
Mona stopped and looked through the door. Grandpa was reading the two kids a story while he played with them. Luke and Rue glanced at Grandpa with wide eyes and paid close attention.
"It looks like Grandpa manage to win their heart this short time, unlike you…” Mona stated it with a smile, but Leo looked sad.
Leo remembers how Luke and Rue looked at him every time they saw him. He had never liked kids, but when he saw these two small lads that looked alike, he couldn't help but be more accepting of them.
"If you hadn't told them those things since they were young..."
"I've never said anything bad about you to the kids." Mona cut him off quickly.
"Everything they know about you is on the Internet."
Leo scowled as he thought about what he had seen on the Internet about him, Mona , and Sydney. So he picked up his phone and contacted Nate. He said, "Cancel all the rumors about Sydney and me on the Internet. I don't want to read any more bad news about me.”
Nate couldn't believe it. Leo had always ignored this chatter, so why did he suddenly start paying attention to it?
Nate agreed right away and took care of it fast.
Luke also saw Mona standing at the entrance at this point. As soon as he smiled, he saw Leo standing close Mona, therefore he ran to Mona with his round eyes right away.
Luke didn't say anything, but what he did was enough to show that he didn't want to be with Leo.
Grandpa looked over and said with a sneer, "Sure enough, kids are the smartest people in the world. They know who the best is.” Then he waved his hand, as if to show Rue how strong he was.
Leo squinted his eyes. He bent down and lifted Luke up high. Luke was a little terrified, but he still looked Leo in the eye.
Leo appeared to envision himself as a child as he looked at the defiant Luke. He stated in a quiet voice, "I am your father. Don't forget to say hello to me in the future.”
Luke snorted. "No. You made Mom upset. I won't say hi to you.”
Mona’s heart felt so soft. She instantly moved forward and took Luke down. "His injury is still not healed. Don't meddle with it.”
Leo looked at them for a while and said, "I don't want to fight with you for custody, but I do want to see them at least four times a week."
