Chapter 93 SACRIFICIAL LOVE

Chapter 93 SACRIFICIAL LOVE
"...Do you still want to know everything that happened? I know our family owes the Vasiles a great debt, but your father was just a pawn—he had to follow orders to protect his wife and their unborn child."

"I want to know," she said firmly. "Please tell me everything."

Once, Isabella had been content not knowing who her real parents were, why she’d been separated from them, or why she carried no memories of her early years. But now that someone could finally give her answers, a deep longing to understand and connect with her roots surged in her heart.

"Your father had no choice but to do as our father commanded. Your grandfather resented the Vasile family for their legacy—he wanted to cut short their line of Prime Ministers and replace them with our own name. He planned to put your father forward as a candidate while plotting to bring the Vasiles down. Your father had no way out; he had two lives to protect. He obeyed every demand without question. When chaos erupted in Romania’s government, our father seized the chance to destroy the Vasiles completely. After framing Cedric Vasile as a murderer, they kidnapped his only son—the man you love now."

Selena’s voice wavered as she spoke, and Isabella’s chest tightened at the mention of Spade.

"D-Did your father hurt Spade when he was a child?"

"Father tried to throw Spade Vasile from the roof of a tall building…"

Isabella’s hand flew to her mouth in horror as Tristan quickly covered young Alina’s ears.

"Alina and I will step out for a while," Tristan said gently. "She shouldn’t hear any of this." He lifted the little girl into his arms as she looked up at him with wide eyes.

"Where are we going?" Alina asked, and Tristan smiled warmly.

"We’re going to get ice cream," he promised. "I’ll buy you anything you want." He glanced back at Isabella, who sat frozen in shock, then carried Alina out of the office.

Left alone, Selena moved to sit beside Isabella on the sofa.

"Do you still want to hear more?" she asked softly. Isabella nodded slowly.

"To break Cedric Vasile completely, Father planned to let Spade fall from that building. We tried to stop him, but he was determined. Then your father intervened. He begged Father not to harm Cedric’s son, but pride blinded our patriarch—and your father was forced to act. He snatched Spade from Father’s grasp, set him free, and when he saw police officers aiming at our father, he stepped in front. The bullets meant for Grandfather hit him instead. Your father didn’t die saving the Vasile heir—he died saving our father, your grandfather. But Grandfather blamed the Vasiles for his eldest son’s death. Even after our family’s crimes were proven and we were exiled to the Philippines, his rage only grew. That was when you and Amara vanished from our care. We searched everywhere, but we had no idea where to find you. I tried… even Grandfather tried, because you’re all that’s left of my brother’s memory."

Selena’s words poured out, and Isabella’s tears finally broke free.

She’d never imagined the depth of the feud between their families. Now she understood why Spade held such hatred for her bloodline.

"Father still seethes with anger toward the Vasiles—and learning about your relationship with Cedric’s son has only made it worse. But I believe this conflict can end if you’ll talk to him, if you’ll ask him to stop seeking revenge. Come home with me to the Moldovan mansion."

Isabella’s mind raced. She didn’t know what face she would show Spade after learning how deeply her family had wronged his.

"I’ll come with you," she said, her voice thick with tears. "If returning to the Moldovans is what it takes to keep Don Tudor or my grandfather from hurting the Vasiles again… then I’ll go."

Selena pulled her close, her hand resting on Isabella’s cheek.

"May I hug you, my niece?"

Isabella nodded, and Selena wrapped her in a warm embrace.

Isabella knew she was making the right choice. She would not let her family bring more pain to Spade’s.

"Your grandfather has waited so long to have you home, Soreah…"

Isabella didn’t correct the name.

Selena pulled back to wipe her tears away.

"Does Spade Vasile know about your decision?"

"He doesn’t need to," Isabella said quietly. "I’m already forgotten in his mind, and now that he knows I’m a Moldovan, he’ll only feel anger toward me. It’s better this way—better that he knows nothing at all."

As she spoke, a knock sounded at the door.

"Ms. Selena, Mr. Spade Vasile is here to see Ms. Isabella," Selena’s secretary announced.

Isabella stood abruptly, her gaze fixed on the door as it swung open and Spade stepped inside.

His dark eyes settled on her, and he slid his hands into his pockets as he approached.

"S-Spade…"

"So you’re going back to your real family? Those monsters?" His voice was sharp, cold.

Isabella clenched her hands at her sides.

"Y-Yes. Moldovan blood runs through my veins. I know you’ll question my choice—"

"Why would I? It’s your decision. My father told me where to find you, and my mother asked me to come see you. But don’t worry—I won’t stop you. As you said, their blood is in you. It’s a good thing I can’t remember you… because I’m sure I’d feel betrayed. My parents say I loved you once."

Isabella fought to hold back her sobs, her heart aching as she tried to understand his pain.

"Maybe it’s better you don’t remember," she said, forcing a small smile. "You’d only hate me for what my family has done. But Spade… I love you. That hasn’t changed. It hurts that I’m the only one who remembers us, but perhaps this is how it was meant to be. I promise you—the Moldovans won’t bother your family again."

Spade looked away, his jaw tight as he let out a slow breath.

"I don’t trust your words—I know what the Moldovans are capable of."

Without another word, he turned and walked out the door.

"Isabella, I know how much this hurts you. You love him so deeply."

Isabella turned to Selena, her tears finally streaming down her face.

"Yes," she whispered. "I love him, but there’s no future for us if I’m not even in his thoughts. We’d only hurt each other more. Maybe us being torn apart—his memories gone—is a sign that even though we met, we were never meant to be together. Aunt Selena… take me to my grandfather. I need to make peace with him."

Selena stroked her cheek gently.

"If you believe this is right, then let’s go. Your grandfather has waited long enough for you."

She pulled Isabella into another hug, knowing the young woman’s heart was breaking with every step away from the man she loved.

And Selena was certain of one thing: even without his memories, Spade’s eyes had held a flicker of something familiar as he looked at Isabella. A spark of the love that once burned between them. If his memories ever returned—and if it would bring Isabella happiness—Selena would help her find her way back to him, even if it meant facing her father’s wrath.

Perhaps fate still had plans to bring them together once more.
