Chapter 105 Sparks of the Earth
Lucifer’s garden stretched across the back of his Earth mansion black roses blooming beneath a sky that never chose between night and day. The air around him pulsed with heat, responding to the temper he didn’t bother to hide. Flames curled lazily at the tips of his fingers as he stood in the middle of the garden, the storm behind his eyes thick enough to choke the wind.
He felt her before he heard her her presence rolling in like a shift in the seasons.
“Sister,” he growled without looking back. His voice shook the petals on the roses. “You walk into my domain bold as ever.”
Dorcas Queen of Nature entered as though the entire garden had been handcrafted for her arrival. Roots trembled beneath the soil, stretching closer. Vines climbed up the stone walls, blooming instantly. Even the air sweetened. The earth itself seemed to breathe her name.
She approached Lucifer with the quiet confidence of someone who never feared the darkness. Her long green robes brushed lightly against the grass, and every blade bowed to her in return. When she reached him, she sat beside him with a gentle smile as if unaware, or uncaring, of the fire burning behind his eyes.
“I see what you did,” Lucifer said, each word clipped, sharp. The muscles in his jaw clenched hard enough to crack stone. “Tell me why you betrayed your own brother.”
Dorcas didn’t flinch. She tilted her head, a soft amusement dancing across her face. “Betray? Is that what you think this is?”
Lucifer turned to face her fully, his dark wings flickering into view for a heartbeat, a sign of how close he was to losing control. “Don’t play innocent with me,” he said, voice low and dangerous. “You know exactly what you did.”
The grass around her shifted, forming a cushioned seat under her as she crossed her legs with effortless grace. Flowers leaned in as though hoping to catch her scent. She plucked a fallen petal and let it drift through her fingers.
“Which offense are we talking about?” she asked lightly. “Visiting her dream? Or letting that human girl recognize Selena?” A slow smirk shaped her lips.
Lucifer’s eyes snapped bright molten gold edged with red. A warning. “We are supposed to stand together,” he hissed. “Yet you let her recall her memories.”
She looked at him as a mother looks at a stubborn child patient, steady, almost pitying.
“Brother,” she said with quiet strength, “this is my planet.” The wind stirred at her words, lifting her hair and brushing past Lucifer like a reprimand. “Father placed each of us where we belong. I am Nature. I rule over Earth. I allow all our siblings to meddle as they please… but that girl needed guidance.” She lifted her hand, and a tiny vine climbed her wrist, circling her fingers as if clinging to its queen. “I didn’t give her everything. Only fragments. Only the happy pieces. The memories that would not shatter her.”
Lucifer stepped forward, the ground beneath his feet scorching black. Disbelief cracked through his voice. “Then why did you visit Selena without my permission?”
Dorcas rose slowly.
The world reacted.
Leaves quivered. Flowers opened. Dust lifted off the stones. A wind formed out of nowhere, swirling around her body, carrying the scent of rain-soaked earth. Her hair lifted, floating as if gravity no longer applied. The garden leaned into her every root, every tremor, every breath of wind.
She didn’t answer yet. Instead, she allowed her power to fill the air, thick and wild, until even Lucifer’s flames dimmed in its presence.
Then she looked at him.
And the Earth itself seemed to quiet.
Dorcas didn’t blink when she spoke the words she simply let them fall into the air, quiet and heavy.
“She is the sacrifice.”
Lucifer stilled. Even the flames dancing under his skin froze mid-flicker. “Who is the sacrifice?”
Dorcas met his stare without hesitation. “Lilith.”
The name struck him like a blade to the gut. His breath hitched. The shadows around him thickened, responding to the sudden spike of emotion. A rose near his feet withered instantly, its petals turning to ash.
Dorcas continued walking, slow and measured, her fingers brushing the tops of the flowers. Wherever she passed, stems straightened and leaves turned toward her, reaching, worshipping.
“She is the piece Selena needs,” she said. “Her staff. Her source. The spark that will wake her power completely.”
Lucifer’s jaw tightened. “Speak plainly,” he demanded. “No riddles.”
Dorcas’s soft laugh floated through the garden like wind chimes. “Father speaks in riddles.”
“And you are not Father,” Lucifer snapped, frustration cracking through his composure. “Talk to me.”
She faced him fully now. The glow in her eyes deepened ancient, earthy, older than the soil beneath their feet. The breeze thickened around her, spinning leaves in tight little circles.
“I feel it,” she said, voice low. “Her power is awake. Selena is pushing through every barrier holding her down. The Earth trembles with it. The prophecy is already shifting into place. She is moving toward it.”
Lucifer surged to his feet.
His wings massive and dark with veins of fire unfurled slightly behind him, the flames casting long shadows across the garden. Rage boiled under his skin, but beneath it… fear. A fear he would never admit out loud.
“I won’t let the prophecy happen,” he said, each word trembling with heat. “Not now. Not when there is still so much unfinished. And I will not let anyone harm her.”
Dorcas softened, sadness flickering in her expression. “Brother… prophecy cannot be stopped. It existed before us. Before creation.”
Lucifer stepped closer, towering over her. The air shimmered from the heat pouring off him. The roses closest to him began to smoke.
“Have you forgotten who I am?” he said, voice dropping into a deep, dangerous calm. “Lucifer Morningstar. King of Hell. Lord of all Dark Realms. I stop what I choose to stop.”
Dorcas exhaled slowly steady, unafraid. “And how,” she asked, “will you stop something that has already awakened?”
A cold smile pulled at Lucifer's lips. The flames behind his eyes steadied, focused.
“Leave that to me,” he said. “There are things on Earth I haven’t handled yet.”
Dorcas lifted a brow, curiosity slipping into her smile.
“Things like what, brother?”
