Chapter 43 Jace
Chapter 43 Jace
Chapter 43
Jace pov
Mia drew in a deep breath. “It’s fine.” Came her swift response, and the rolling of her eyes.
“I’m not joking.” I snarled.
Lips flat, she shrugged her shoulders before nodding her head.
“I’ve never been hapless and rejected in life not until I met you, Jace.” Thick silence hung in the air at her last words. She eased herself in her chair, and smoothened her hair. “I just hope one day I did find someone who will find me worthy of their unending love, who will be so obsessed with me.”She puffed out some air.
My fingers tapped on the table, as I nodded. “I’m sure you gonna find it one day but definitely not me. I sucked at loving and being obsessed.”
Her eyes widened at me, a small chuckle and twisting of her heart shaped lips. Mia lips parted as if she was going to utter some words, but threw her hands in the air unable to form the words.
“You okay?” I raised my brow at her.
“Sure!” she nodded and heightened her shoulders.
I checked her out, patiently waiting for her to utter those words. Mia had invited me here to tell me something about my mother.
The urge not to ask her was little. Not that I was scared. I would have asked her but Mia think I'm being desperate.
I’m convinced she wanted me nagging her for the content, but I aint doing that.
I’ll keep playing along with her.
“Madam Jessica was attacked with the same poison which was used on your mother. There was a great fallout between Hagai and Jayden, but I doubt if the fallout would last long.” She swirled her neck, and her danced beautifully to her left. “I bet Jayden would be so frustrated at the moment and might do anything to get the antidote since the assassins who might have mentioned the name of the poison and antidote was killed. On the other hand, since Hagai is close to Jessica and always scheme with her he might know where the assassin hideout are, or the inventor of the poison is. We might as well deploy someone to watch after him.”
I nodded with a thoughtful expression being etched in my face.
“We wouldn't attack at first while he go hunt for their hideout but, when he finally get his hands on the antidote we will snatch it from him.” she lifted her gaze to stare at me. “What do you think?” Mia questioned and I answered.
“Sounds perfect. What about Jayden? Shouldn't we be more concern about him?”
“He’s being under my control and watch. It might be delayed but whatsoever mischievous he's up to, we would definitely be updated.”
I would have shut up but I ended up saying it anyway. “How did you know do much?”
“You think everyone would want to be wasted like you?” was her response, and her words almost hurt me but I smiled at her.
“Oops! That hurt!” I smiled at her. “Thanks for everything. I would also repeat this. I know you're helping me but please don't do things or involve yourself in activity which makes me to detest you.” I nudged at her shoulders.
Her eyes blinked and I wasn't sure if it was a flicker of blush or dolor which had swept across her face.
“And I'm patiently waiting for the days you will open up to me.”
“Whether you detest me or not when you find out. I would have fulfill my part in what I'm supposed to do.”
“What were you supposed to do?” I interjected.
She fired back. “Protecting my love one.”

I was going to throw a mocking questions about her family to her, but I realize that would break her spirit, besides I'm grown past those stage where id be uttering words that would irk her.
“Why didn't you protect your parent? Your family?” she said, so confidently. “Isnt that what you were about to say? Weren't you going to rub my past mistake on my face? Why? Why did you decide not to say it?”
Chuckling, she covered the steps between us. “Were you afraid to say it because you think I might not want to help you anymore? Nah! Im not that heartless. I love you. I love you Jace! I might have not been able to protect my family back then. But now?” she licked her lips, tears threatening to fall from the rim of her eyes. “Youre my only family and i’ll do anything to protect you.”
“Can you now read mind?” I asked amidst all her talk.
She rolled her eyes in shock at me. ‘Really?’
“I might be a princess turned slave but my father was an alpha and so naturally the alpha blood ran in my vein. I can do anything that An alpha can do.”
“Who else know that you possess your alpha skills?” I asked.
“Why asking?”
“Youre not suppose to possess your alpha skills, I'm afraid if someone knows about this, they might tell on you or use it against you.”
“Dont be work up on me. You should worry more about yourself, you're not suppose to possess magic but it ran in your veins. If someone else find it, they might tell on you or use it against you.”
In a blink I lunged for her but she was quick to dodge. I swirled to grab her hair or any part of her but she was quick to dodge every of my moves.
She was fast and defensive.
I stopped and she laughed.
“Watch out I might be having this fun with you every time.” She smiled.
“How did you find out?” I asked, peering into her soul.
“How I find out?” She snorted. “I’ll be taking it to my grave. Just stick to the plan.”
I gulped hard then walked out of the room, to outside already being suspicious of Mia.
Why is my instinct telling me that she and my mother were playing games with me?
If my mother was truly poisoned and was not responding to treatment then how come she’s still alive?
Should I ask Mia, she might become suspicious and change her games.
I think the one person I would ask would be the physician. Even if it would involve me kidnapping him while shielding my face.
