Chapter 7 Don't act nice

Chapter 7 Don't act nice

Diego was busy checking out some things on the file in his hand while he waited for Jameson in the car.

He stopped for a moment and looked up, his face hard and cold as he recalled last night's incident. He had warned her not to pass out, and she did. He wasn't even satisfied.

Jameson sensed the cold aura when he entered the car.

"Is something wrong?" he asked.

"Did you find the bastard?" Diego asked, and Jameson sighed.

"He hasn't been home for three days. That punk messed with the wrong person," Jameson muttered.

"Let's head back then. I'll get him myself before sunrise," Diego stated, and Jameson started the car.

A few minutes passed, and the car suddenly stopped.

"What?" Diego asked from behind.

"Isn't that Mrs. Candy?" Jameson asked, staring at the lady who had just come out of the grocery store with a bright smile.

Diego also looked at her, his expression impossible to fathom.

A woman and a man suddenly appeared, and Candy seemed shocked. She was slapped across the face by the woman and was dragged towards the car.

"Oh no, did you see that?"

"Head back to the company," Diego ordered, returning his gaze to the file.

"Are you crazy? That is your wife, Diego. She must be in trouble!" Jameson yelled worriedly. He didn't know about Candy's stepmother yet.

"She left the house herself. She should deal with it."

"She was just coming out of the grocery store. I'm sure she is planning to prepare a meal for you before you come back, just like the wife she is," Jameson explained to the man whose heart was probably made of stone.

"C'mon Diego, they are leaving," Jameson said as the car drove past them.

"Fine, follow them," he ordered.

Jameson stepped on the accelerator and quickly turned to follow the car. He managed to overtake Natalie's car and watched Diego save Candy.

Diego's brow slowly knitted in anger, and he cleared his throat when Candy didn't stop hugging him.

Candy, realizing what she had just done, quickly broke the hug. His cold glare made her shudder. What was she thinking, hugging him like that?

Diego turned his head to Natalie, who was speechless about what was going on. So many questions about this man flooded her mind.

Jameson got down from the car too and took a deep breath. When Natalie saw him, she knew Jameson seemed familiar. The man who just saved Candy wasn't ordinary.

Who is he? And how did he know Candy?

She watched them enter their car and drive off.

"Mrs. Candy, are you alright?" Jameson asked, staring at her through the rearview mirror as he drove.

"I'm..." Candy paused, realizing something. "You knew?"

"Uh, yeah, I knew from the very start I found you, but don't worry, I'm glad you married this cold lion."

"The same lion is going to cut off your tongue," Diego warned, and Jameson scoffed.

"I'm sorry I lied," Candy apologized.

"I'm glad you did," Jameson gave her a smile through the mirror.

"Focus on the damn road!" Diego snapped.

"I am focusing on the damn road, Mr. President," Jameson glared at him.

"Gosh, I feel like killing you."

"You say that all the time."

"They must be so close," Candy thought. Her face dropped, and she bit her lips knowing she had offended this man twice.

Getting back to the mansion, Diego stopped and turned to look at Candy, anger evident in his gaze.

"I only went to get some groceries since there was no food in the fridge, and I got a phone too," her voice barely above a whisper as she explained before the man could ask.

"It's hasn't been a week, and you're already on my nerves. I should have let her take you away."

Candy looked up at him. His eyes showed no pity.

"What the fuck am I going to do with you? First, you passed out last night, and then you went out without my permission with the aim of acting nice because of what?" he asked in a stern voice.

"I'm sorry..."

"Don't fucking apologize. If you know what's good for you, don't try to act nice before me just because you're my wife. It sucks." With this, he walked past her.

Candy stood in her place as his words repeated over and over in her head. She shouldn't feel hurt by his words, but she did.

Reaching his room, Diego pulled out his phone and made a short call.

Candy was still seated in the living room when the doorbell rang. She found a middle-aged woman who brought in many food supplies.

Candy was stunned by this. She had thought she would sleep on an empty stomach, but she was wrong.

In the cold evening, Jameson waited outside a restaurant. His calm gaze was on a beautiful lady seated with a man as they chatted inside.

Pulling out his phone, Jameson dialed a number. The lady inside answered.

"What?" her voice sounded through Jameson's phone speaker.

"Where are you?" he asked.

"Oh... uh. I'm at home right now. I'm just a bit tired from work, you know," she shrugged.

Hearing her answer, Jameson ended the call and marched his way into the restaurant.

"Huh? Why did he end the call like that?" Yazmine muttered as she stared at her phone.

"Who was that?" the man before her asked.

"Oh, it was my brother..."

"Brother?" the man's eyes flew open.

"Calm down, Nick. I told him I was at home," Yazmine said lightly.

"And you think I'd believe you?" Jameson stated behind her, and Yazmine's face slowly dropped. The man before her swallowed.

"Fuck," Yazmine cursed under his breath.

"Mr. James, I... can explain..." the man stuttered.

"Explain what? How many times do I have to tell you I don't want to see you with my sister? Did you remember what I promised to do to you whenever I see you with her?" Jameson asked in a stern voice. "I'll cut that straw in between your fucking legs. And now you just earned that, except if you run and never show your face again."

Immediately he heard this, the man ran out of the restaurant, leaving one of his shoes behind.

Yazmine, whose eyes were closed the whole time, opened them with anger burning in them.

She stood, hitting her hands on the table, and faced Jameson.

"What do you think you're doing?" she asked.

"I should be the one asking you that question. I told you this man is a fucking gold digger!"

"Why do you care?"

"Because you're my sister."

"Can't you be considerate for once? I'm 30, James, 30! And I still don't have a man in my life because you keep chasing them with threats. When am I going to get a companion, huh? When I get old and start having some fucking white hairs?" she almost yelled.

"I can't watch you go astray. These men you keep dating aren't right. It's either you go with a criminal, a drug dealer, or someone who wants to use you"

"This is my decision, James! Mine! And you should stay out of it, or I'm going to disappear. I'm tired of your bullshit!" Yazmine snapped. Grabbing her bag she left the restaurant.

"Fuck!" Jameson cursed, sweeping his hair backwards.
