Chapter 69 Get pregnant now

Chapter 69 Get pregnant now
Zara was surprised to see Adrian, and most importantly he cried because of her .

For a moment, her heart froze. This was the man who had always carried the world with stone-like calmness, who never showed weakness no matter how deep the pain. The same man who once seemed to resent her for every scar her presence left on his life… yet here he was, breaking for her.

She couldn’t look away.

Adrian’s tears fell quietly, each one burning through her chest.

When he finally realized what he had done, he wiped them away quickly, straightening up like nothing had happened. “Let’s get you back inside,” he said, his voice firm, almost too calm.

“Whoa, speaking like you weren’t crying just now,” she teased weakly, trying to lighten the mood.

Adrian sighed deeply, shaking his head. “Oh God, you’re going to use this against me for the rest of my life, aren’t you?”

“Maybe,” Zara said with a faint smile.

He took the handles of her wheelchair, steering her gently through the hospital corridors. The scent of antiseptic filled the air, the hum of machines echoing softly. When they entered her room, two nurses and a doctor were already waiting.

“Mrs. Zara,” the doctor said kindly, “it’s time for your injection.”

Zara’s face fell instantly. Her heartbeat jumped. “Oh no… not again.”

Before she could protest further, Adrisn knelt beside her. “Hey, it’s okay,” he said gently. Without a second thought, he lifted her from the chair, her legs hanging loosely as he supported her weight, resting her lightly against him.

She clung to him instinctively, her face pressed against his shoulder as the doctor prepared the syringe.

“Don’t worry,” Adrisn murmured, his voice low, steady. “It’s not going to hurt.”

Zara let out a small cry when the needle went in, and he instinctively patted her back. “See? Done already.”

The doctor smiled. “All good now.”

Adrisn laid her carefully back on the bed, brushing a strand of hair off her face. “Told you. You’re tougher than you think.”

She rolled her eyes but smiled. “Yeah, right.”

A few minutes later, Adrisn unpacked a tray of food and set it on the small table beside her. “Okay, Mrs. Patient, no spicy food for now.”

“Nooo,” she groaned dramatically. “That’s all I want!”

“You’re not supposed to,” he warned, giving her a look.

“Fine,” she said, pretending to surrender then quickly stole the spiciest piece of chicken from the plate and popped it into her mouth.

“Zara!”

She grinned mischievously, cheeks full. “Oops.”

He shook his head, trying not to smile, and muttered, “You’re impossible.”

From the corner of the room, Isabella snorted. “Lovebirds,” she said under her

That night, the air in the room was quieter. Machines beeped softly. Zara was half-lying against her pillows when she turned toward Adrian, who sat beside her, scrolling through his phone.

“Adrian,” she said softly.

“Hmm?”

“I want to go home. I’m tired of this place.”

He looked up immediately. “No, Zara. You’re staying here until you fully heal.”

“I’m serious,” she insisted, pouting. “I think I feel better. We can take a nurse with us. Please?”

He frowned, torn between worry and the warmth in her pleading eyes. “Let me confirm with the doctor first. If it’s safe… we’ll talk.”

“Promise?”

He sighed but smiled. “Promise.”

A few minutes later, he came back with a nod. “Yes, we can go. The hospital will assign a nurse to stay with us at home.”

Zara’s entire face lit up. “Really?”

“Really. But we’ll leave tomorrow morning.”

“Okay,” she said, satisfied.

He adjusted her blanket, tucking it around her shoulders like she was made of glass. “Now sleep, Mrs. Stubborn.”

She giggled softly. “Goodnight, Mr. Worried.”

As she drifted into sleep, Adrian  sat quietly beside her, watching her chest rise and fall. The tension that had held him captive for days finally began to fade. For the first time since that night, he smiled a real, peaceful smile , he was relieved the person who risked her life to save his was doing okay .

The next morning, sunlight streamed gently through the hospital curtains. Zara sat up, already dressed, ready to leave. But as they prepared to check out, a cold, familiar voice echoed from the doorway.

It was her stepmother.

“Zara,” the woman said smoothly, her tone controlled as always. “I heard you got shot. I was… busy with work, so your father represented me.”

Zara’s eyes lowered. Of course. No surprise there she muttered to herself.

“Well,” her stepmother continued, arms crossed, “good thing you’re okay. You should use this time while your father still cares to get pregnant, like I told you before.”

Zara blinked, disbelief flashing across her face. “You came all the way here… to talk about that?”

The woman smirked slightly. Do as I say if you don’t want to get in trouble with me !

Zara’s heart sank. She had spent years wishing for affection from this woman.

“Thank you for your… concern,” Zara said coldly but timidly .

Her stepmother tilted her chin, unimpressed. “Just think about what I said.” Then she turned and walked out without another word.

Zara sat silently, staring at the door long after she was gone. The room felt smaller somehow.

When Adrian  returned, he noticed the sadness in her eyes. “Hey,” he said softly. “What happened?”

“Nothing,” she lied. “Let’s just go home.”

He studied her for a long moment, then nodded. “Alright.”
