Chapter 37: Kiss Me Once
Chapter 37: Kiss Me Once
Landing this contract with Kyle would mean he could pocket at least twenty percent of the profits.
Plus, he could use this contract to claim credit in front of Charles, which would secure his position as general manager for a few more years.
Losing this contract would put him in a really bad spot.
He begged Kyle humbly.
"Mr. Patterson, let's talk this through. Our cooperation is between us - what does he have to do with it?"
"Besides, I've put in so much work to land your contract. We can't just stop working together because of an outsider, right?"
"Mr. Patterson?"
Hearing Billy's words, Kyle was almost amused by Billy's stupidity.
He had to correct this fool.
Kyle looked at Billy's stupid face and said, "Mr. Brooks, I need to remind you - he's my friend. If he tells me to sign this contract, I sign. If he tells me not to, I don't."
"Also, my relationship with him is way better than my relationship with you. To me, you're the outsider."
"I don't want to hear such stupid words again. Otherwise, next time you might lose something else."
After saying this, Kyle patted Billy's face a few times, not too hard, not too soft.
Billy was stunned.
Kyle didn't bother talking to him anymore and turned to leave.
As he walked away, he complained to his assistant.
"Damn, did I run into idiots today or what? Actually daring to offend William?"
"That's really something you don't see every day."
After Kyle left, Billy was so angry he wanted to explode.
But facing the empty private room, he didn't even know which chair to take it out on.
How could he be so unlucky today? Losing such a big contract.
If Charles found out, he would definitely question his work ability.
He was the general manager of Maplewood Hotel, after all.
He needed to find a scapegoat.
With this thought, Billy decided to be the bad guy.
He took out his phone and called Charles.
"Mr. Hughes, something happened. The contract I was about to sign fell through."
"It was Victoria. She came and messed things up, wouldn't let them work with me. That's why the contract couldn't be signed."
"You really need to teach her a lesson."
...
At that moment, in another private room, William had arranged for servers to prepare food.
Victoria, sitting at the table, was racking her brain trying to figure out how to tell William that Maplewood Hotel really wanted that contract.
Seeing Victoria's distracted state, William instantly understood what she was thinking.
He started teasing Victoria.
"Victoria, what are you thinking about?"
Facing William's initiative to talk, Victoria tried to look less purposeful.
Victoria took a deep breath and started pleading for Billy.
"Nothing much, just thinking that Mr. Brooks shouldn't have gotten such a harsh punishment earlier."
"He just made a small mistake, worried that I would mess up the contract signing."
"After all, I just started working at Maplewood Hotel."
William didn't care who signed the contract, as long as the deal went to Maplewood Hotel.
That Billy guy could disrespect him, William, but daring to push Victoria - that was a huge mistake.
Even though he and Victoria didn't have deep feelings yet, he needed to be able to protect his wife from being bullied.
He blinked his innocent eyes and asked Victoria, "So what are you trying to say?"
Victoria took the opportunity to make her request.
"What I mean is, even if Mr. Brooks did something wrong, that was his personal behavior. It has nothing to do with Maplewood Hotel."
"How about you talk to that Mr. Patterson and have the contract signed with Maplewood Hotel anyway? Would that work?"
Victoria looked at William expectantly, the light in her big eyes and her sweet expression made William unable to bear refusing her.
He was so lucky.
How did he end up marrying such an attractive woman by chance?
William continued teasing Victoria. He reached out his slender fingers and touched his nose.
Then he said seriously, "Actually, this contract could go to Maplewood Hotel."
"Then give it to them!" Victoria said, her voice full of excitement.
She sat close to William, her excited expression and the faint orchid-like fragrance from her body made William, who was usually calm around women, suddenly flustered.
At that moment, he really wanted to lean down and kiss Victoria's nose, to swallow all her playfulness and cuteness.
But he wasn't in a hurry - he was afraid of scaring Victoria.
He added, "But you have to give me something in return."
Victoria was puzzled and couldn't understand what William was thinking at all.
"What do you want? A commission? Or profit sharing?"
Hearing this, William almost laughed. How little did Victoria know about his wealth?
Did he need the commission and profit sharing she mentioned?
He suppressed his laughter and reminded Victoria, "I don't want commission or profit sharing. How about you give me a kiss?"
Faced with William's request, Victoria's face turned red instantly.
She would never have imagined that William would make such a request.
Wasn't he gay?
Didn't he like men?
So why was he asking her to kiss him like this?
Could it be that he wanted to deny being gay in front of his friends?
If that was the case, Victoria could kind of understand what he meant.
At that moment, Kyle arrived at the door of this private room with his assistant. Through the slightly open door, he clearly heard the conversation between William and Victoria.
Was William seriously in heat or something?
He was actually taking the initiative to ask Victoria to kiss him?
"Smooth move! Looks like William's fallen for Victoria."
Kyle whispered to his assistant beside him.
The assistant looked at Kyle blankly and asked, "Mr. Patterson, should we go in?"
Kyle put his finger to his lips, making a shushing gesture.
He added, "No, let's watch the show. I want to see if William can get what he wants."
Inside the room, Victoria's face stayed red, while William sat calmly beside her.
Victoria was torn. Being asked to kiss a gay man while completely sober was a huge test for her .
But for Maplewood Hotel, she was willing to make that sacrifice.
After thinking it over several times, Victoria finally made her decision!
