Chapter 11 A Meeting With Darius.
Delilah.
He actually acted like he cared about me. The woman he married. Sexed me like it, too.
Today was that day, and I could not hold my excitement back as I called Darius Andrews.
He wanted a bargain. He'd get one. He'd done just fine in giving me my dreams and fulfilling all of my fantasies.
I hated Aria too. There was no reason for me not to.
She'd ruined things for me. She was the reason Jess just wouldn't love me.
I wish I'd met Jess sooner. A lot of these things wouldn't have happened. Aria wouldn't have taken my place in his life. She wouldn't have taken everything from me.
But well, now was my chance to redeem myself.
I was going to get my pound of flesh, and I was going to get it back tenfold. She'd learn what to do near another woman's man next time, and she'd never come close to Jess again.
“Hello?” I asked on the phone, the dial tone finally going off.
“Delilah,” He started, drawing out my name. “It’s been a while. To what do I owe the honor?”
“I'm fine, Darius. Thank you for asking. I've been meaning to talk to you for quite a while. I'm glad I was able to get you on call today.” I was quick to get to the point. There was no time to waste.
He'd always desired me. It was just a sad thing that I didn't want him as much as he wanted me.
She crossed my mind again. A bitter taste filled my mouth.
I was just so bitter. I just wanted to hurt that girl genuinely. Take her out of the game permanently, so I could run my cards in peace and use my men as I pleased.
“All right then, so what do you want to talk about? I hope this is not another plea deal. You don't need any funding for anything else this time?” Of course he'd bring back the debt. There was always something to owe Darius. That's why I didn't call him often.
“Yes, I'm here to talk about a certain female. I want you to take care of her for me. I'll be giving you details shortly. Can you do that?” I was smiling now. I relished the idea of her death.
“Of course I can.” His confidence was clear. I knew he was the right man for the job. “There's nothing stopping me, is there? Does she have any strongholds that I should know of? Any particularly damning thing for me or my crew?” He was checking for loopholes. Reasons he shouldn't go through with it. But luckily enough, he had none.
Aria was useless. Just like everyone else around her.
“No, there's none. You've got nothing to worry about. You can do your research yourself once you get her details.”
“Alright. Anything else?” I heaved a sigh of relief.
“Well, no, honestly. That's really all I wanted to talk to you about. Me and my husband would like to meet you privately. We need you in person so we can plan this accordingly.”
If I could assess him in person, I could be double sure.
I didn't believe in coincidences.
“That's fine. It depends on what time we're talking, though.” He said, the smile very evident on his face. He thought this was another hookup session. My husband was a joke to him, especially since I was actively feeding his sexual urges while being married.
At least there was something I could do. At least there was somebody who wanted me. Somebody who gasped at the sight of me. I didn't get that from my husband. I had to find it elsewhere.
“Tonight. The Old Farmhouse. How's that?”
“That's okay. That's good, even. Good enough for me.” I smiled. The plan was definitely coming together now.
I turned to Jess, smiling at him.
“That went well. We have a meeting with him in a couple minutes, so I think we should be getting dressed now.” We both got up, moving towards our different closets to pick out something to wear.
In a few minutes, we were in the car, driving to the Old Farmhouse in a deserted part of the city.
This was a place everyone knew but never went to as there was nothing nice about it and it had been abandoned for a very, very long time. Long enough to become a tourist attraction, but not having enough pizzaz to get there.
It was the perfect place.
We could be sure of nobody coming here. It was more than perfect. It was confident, and that was what we needed.
We rode up to the large building, parking a few yards away from it, so that we weren't seen around the premises, even if somebody did happen to come by.
I didn't believe in coincidences. I didn't believe in trusting fate.
Nothing was ever a given, so being careful was our best bet.
We got down from the car, Jess coming around to take my hand as we strode into the farmhouse. At least now he had a reason to hold my hand. Now he had a reason to be proud of me.
We walked into the farmhouse, standing at the entrance and calling out, but getting no response. Darius wasn't there, the perpetual late comer. I smiled.
I knew him all too well. He wanted to be fashionably late, but he never quite succeeded at that, considering his poor fashion style.
I looked around. We stood at the entrance, waiting for Darius, the orchestra of howls and hoots from owls renting the air. We enjoyed the cool evening breeze and the lit surroundings from the full moon. Beautiful night, it was.
I breathed in just as the car arrived, parking with a screech and Darius coming down with a flourish. He slammed the car shut and walked down to us from a distance.
Walking up to me, I smiled. He deserved it. Better make him feel good immediately, or it would be very dire.
He reached us, standing right in front of me in a too-close-for-comfort manner, and smiled. His eyes were lingering. Perfect.
“Hello, Delilah.” That voice was all the assurance I needed.
