I believe you
Rhea's POV
I forced open the door of Kayden's library without knocking.
The place was so dark, I found it difficult to maneuver my way. I had never been in here before, so I really didn't expect it to be this big.
I really thought it was just a small room, but it was a full library with shelves that were twice my height.
I guess he wasn't joking when he said he loved to read.
At a dark corner of the room, where the light couldn't reach, I could see a male figure comfortably seated, although he was backing me.
I could easily pick up Kayden's scent at this point. I have been so close to him, that I'm very sure I would be able to perceive him from miles away.
"How did you know I'm here?" He asked me, turning around slowly.
"Just a wild guess" I shrugged.
"Alysia must have told you that I came here right? She saw me entering earlier" he shook his head, using a remote control to illuminate the whole place.
"If you knew the answer, then why did you ask me?" I shrugged.
"You're not meant to be here" he ignored my question.
"Neither are you, but here we are," I responded.
"I'm not messing around with you Rhea. Please leave, no one is allowed in here" he grabbed me by the elbow.
"I don't want to leave. I am not just anyone"I refused, forcefully pushing him away.
He stumbled backwards, but managed to prevent himself from falling.
"Were you drinking?" I asked him, looking behind him to see so many bottles of alcohol on the table.
"It's none of your business " he flipped.
"Of course it is. I don't want to be a widow at such a young age "I furrowed my eyebrows.
"You'll be a divorcee soon. Remember you're only my wife for two years, don't get too ahead of yourself" he reminded me.
"It doesn't matter if I am your wife, for just two hours. I am your wife now, and that is all that matters" I told him.
He took one glance at me, and returned to sit back on the chair taking a bottle of alcohol in his hand. He didn't even have a cup, he just drank straight from the bottle like some kind of lunatic.
"Suit yourself, stay here if you want. But, don't touch my stuff. I don't want you putting things out of place for me" he instructed
I ignored him, going to snatch the bottle right from his hand.
"You can't be drinking like this. It's not good for your health" I told him..
"Give me back my bottle" he ordered.
"No!" I refused, standing firm.
He angrily got up, smashing one of the bottles to the ground, towering over me, and giving me a dead stare.
I stood firm, knowing fully well that he wouldn't even try to harm me.
"You can scare everyone else but me" I told him, and I noticed a relaxation in his eye muscles.
I threw away the bottle I had in my hand.
"Kayden, this isn't you please" I cupped his face in my palm.
"I didn't do anything. Why can't you all believe me? I didn't do it!"he murmured.
"All you ever do is judge me, castigate me and paint me out to be the bad guy. And I know you are here to do the same. Just say what you want to say to my face already, and leave" he clenched his gist, forcefully grabbing my hands.
He tried to peel my hands off his face, but I refused.
"I am not here to judge you Kayden. I know you didn't do anything" I whispered softly
I just needed him to calm down.
"You are just saying that because I am angry. The way you looked at me earlier today, like I was some kind of monster. I know I am a monster, I will never deny that fact so please leave" he tried to push me out again.
But, if he wasn't going to give up, then I won't do that either.
"You are not a monster Kayden" I cupped his face in my palm again, this time digging my fingers into his skin.
"Please look at me. Don't look away from me" I begged him.
I wanted him to let go of his pain.
Not just the pain he was feeling at the moment, but the one he had been bottling up all these while.
"No one loves me, no one believes me. I didn't r*pe that girl, I can never r*pe a child that little or any other woman. Yes, I love sex but not to that extent. I can't go so low" he sniffed..
I could see clouds in his eyes, like a storm waiting to be released but I couldn't see any tears.
It was so obvious that all he wanted to do was cry, and release all of his agony but something was holding him back and making it impossible for him to express himself.
"I care about you alot Kayden, don't say that. We will look for a way to prove your innocence to the world, I promise you" I made a promise I didn't know if I could keep.
I don't know how I would prove such a video as fake, but I was determined.
And if Alysia could change my impression about Kayden in a few minutes then I will surely prove Kayden innocent in a few days.
"Look at me please" I begged him, when I noticed he had averted his gaze.
I wanted him to focus all his attention on me.
