You're a suspect

Larina's POV

I drove into the packhouse, entering when I collided with Kayden.

I guess I was too late.

"Where are you coming from?" He lifted an eyebrow, walking towards me.

Why is he staring at me like that? Does he think that I had something to do with Rhea's attack?

I shouldn't think about it. This man is a f-cking mind reader. I won't have to tell him anything before he gets the truth out if me.

"I went to see a friend," I said boldly.

"Since when do you have friends?" He asked.

"I've always had friends, Kayden. Why so many questions?" I responded.

"It doesn't matter how many questions I ask you, you must answer. You don't really have a choice." He was quick to reprimand me.

"Alright. But, I can't stand here all day, "I told him.

I wanted to sound like I didn't care. I didn't want him to see the worry and fear on my face, it would ruin me completely.

"Larina, where were you yesterday?" He asked me.

"I was here in the packhouse, " I replied to him boldly. He glared at me, obviously not believing a single word that came out of my mouth.

"You can ask the guards and maids if you don't believe me," I told him

"I believe you." He nodded, and I felt a form of relief.

"I know you must have heard by now that Rhea was attacked yesterday on her way to the packhouse," he said.

"I hadn't heard until you told me. I hope she is gone" I scuffed.

I didn't want to show too much care for Rhea, because Kayden was already aware that I didn't like her. In fact he knew that the mere sight of her, burns my skin.

"Did you have anything to do with it?" He asked me.

"No, why would you even think that?" I acted disgusted by his behavior.

"Oh please, save your act for someone else, maybe someone who doesn't know you as much as I do." He responded quickly.

"I didn't do anything to Rhea" I was firm.

"I hope you didn't, because if I eventually find out that you have a hand in what happened to Rhea.." he was talking, before he paused..

He walked closer to me, and placed the palm at the back of my neck, bringing my face closer to his.

"I will cut you into tiny pieces and then feed your remains to the vultures. Do you understand?" He growled.

"Yes" I squeaked.

"Now, that's a good wh-re" He caressed the back of my neck.

What kind of being was he? Why was I experiencing two feelings at the same time?

He was threatening me, telling me terrible things he would do to me, yet my body was craving to be beneath him. I was craving to have him hold me and caress me like my life depended on it.

"Kayden please let me go" I cried out, when I noticed that the grip he had on the back of my neck had begun to tighten.

"Really? You want me to let go? You don't always have to be a sl-t" he tightened his grip on me, and pushed me away.

"Be careful with me Larina. I have my eyes on you. And you would not like it, when I find a reason to lay my hands on you" he told me, and I fell silent.

I watched him walk away, as I ran to my room.

My eyes had become heavy with tears, and at this point, I was losing my mind.

Why doesn't Rhea want to die? Who does she think she is to always escape my attacks? Or was Luke right about her. Did she really have a force that was protecting her?

Why is Kayden always there to save her.

He saved her when I tried to poison her the first time she came into the packhouse. He saved her when I had poisoned her necklace too, and now he saved her from this.

It doesn't matter how many times you save her Kayden, I will kill her. Because if Rhea doesn't die then you will never consider marrying me. I will never be the next Luna as long as she is alife.

"Larina" I heard a deep male voice call out to me.

I turned around, my heart sinking to my stomach, and my palm pinned to my chest

I felt a mixture of relief and anger when I saw Lucas locking the door behind him.

"I am not in the mood, Lucas," I complained , shaking my head, and hoping that he would leave.

"Neither am I," he responded.

"Then why are you here!" I asked him.

He looked me dead in the eye, before he responded.

"Why didn't you tell me you had plans to kill Rhea?" He asked.

"What?" I acted confused.

"Oh please . I know that you are solely responsible for whatever happened to Rhea. She has no other enemies apart from you and I…" he spoke, and I lifted an eyebrow.

"Fine, maybe Imogen too. But, we know she is neither that smart nor brave enough to pull that move. So, tell me why you decided to keep me in the dark?" He asked me, and I bit down on my lower lip.

"It happened fast, " I responded.

There was really no need denying, because Lucas will just keep pushing me to answer.

"Nothing happened fast, you just refused to plan. And I am very sure that Kayden knows that you lunged that attack. He just doesn't have proof to use against you and validate his point " he pointed out reality.

Lucas was right, Kayden wasn't a fool.

If lucas with a daft brain could figure out that I am responsible, then Kayden must already know.

Then why hasn't he done anything?

"Are you listening?" Lucas snapped his fingers in my face, dragging me back to reality. I had been so lost in my thoughts that I had become too unaware of my surroundings, and got completely zoned out from whatever it was Lucas was telling me.
